Kann mir mal bitte jemand erklären warum I3 MOBILE INC gestern knapp 130 % gemacht haben!?!?!?

Ist ja eigentlich nicht so viel besonderes bei, aber bei dem Umsatz??!?

I3 Mobile stock climbs, reasons unclear

STAMFORD, Conn.—Stock in failed wireless data company I3 Mobile Inc. was up more than 100 percent in trading today—or up about 58 cents to $1.14 per share—but the reason for the massive jump was decidedly unclear.

Stock watchers wondered whether the rise was due to pending news from the company. Indeed, I3 Mobile in March said it was in negotiations for a potential alliance, joint venture, sale or acquisition, but provided no details. Others wondered if the massive stock activity—I3 Mobile’s trading volume was up to 10 million compared with the company’s average of 120,000—was due to stock trader maneuvering.

I3 Mobile did not immediately return calls for comment. The company’s Web site was not operational.

In March, I3 Mobile announced it shut down its Pronto voice-activated information and content service and that it would continue to search for a potential strategic alliance, joint venture, merger or acquisition, or possible sale of the company.

The company for months has been struggling to stay afloat. The company recently cut its work force and hired investment-banking firm Kaufman Bros. L.P. to assist in looking for strategic alliances. The company warned that if no deals go through it will pursue other alternatives, such as the liquidation of its assets.

I3 Mobile in late 2001 introduced its Pronto services in the Hartford/New Haven, Conn., area. Using the company`s Pronto service, i3 Mobile customers were able to ask questions—“When does the movie start?” or “What will the weather be like tomorrow?”—and receive text or audio answers. The company described the service as a flat menu, not one users had to click through to get information. It was initially priced at $15 per month.

In its first quarter I3 Mobile reported a net loss of $6.2 million and cash on hand of $15 million.
