Aber Was ist nun so toll an US Gold Corp??

Letter to Shareholders from new Chairman & CEO Rob McEwen

      Dear Investor,

Thank you for being a US Gold owner! As an investor in this company I wanted to write you for a number of reasons. First, to introduce myself as the new Chairman and CEO of US Gold and secondly, I wanted to discuss the plans I have for the company.

On July 29, 2005 it was announced that I had purchased 33% of the shares of the company, becoming the largest shareholder of US Gold. Shortly thereafter, I assumed the position of Chairman and CEO. I feel it’s important for any CEO of a publicly traded company to have a large vested interest and to have his or her interest directly aligned with the shareholders. My interest is the same as yours: Increasing shareholder value!

Before assuming my recent position with the company I was Chairman and CEO of Goldcorp Inc. (NYSE: GG TSX: G). Prior to my stepping down as Goldcorp’s CEO, Goldcorp merged with Wheaton River Minerals in what I believe was one of the most successful combinations in the gold sector. During the past 18 years, Goldcorp’s market capitalization has increased from $50 million to over $6.8 billion. Today Goldcorp is the lowest cost, million ounce gold producer in the world and I remain the largest individual shareholder of that company. If you wish to find out more about me, I encourage you to visit my website at www.robmcewen.com

When I looked at US Gold I saw a very unique and interesting opportunity! A small company with one of the largest land packages, in the Cortez Trend. If you look at our property on the map provided, it is surrounded by opportunity. Just to the north sits Placer Dome’s Cortez Hills discovery, which has been reported to contain 5.6 million ounces of gold and was recently approved for production. This discovery changed the outlook for the Cortez Trend, because it suggests the same style of deposit is present, which resides in the Carlin Trend.

The Carlin Trend is adjacent and parallel to the Cortez Trend. To date the Carlin Trend has mined over 60 million ounces of gold. Within the Carlin Trend, gold deposits seem to be strung together in clusters, almost running into each other. Early indications suggest a similar pattern may exist on the Cortez Trend.

Our Tonkin Springs property has undergone several exploration programs throughout the past 20 years. However, most of the drilling centered on few select areas, leaving the large majority of the property untested. In addition, the drilling was close to surface. So why is this important? It indicates that exploration was not focused on finding a Carlin style deposit similar to Cortez Hills, which is found deeper in the ground, located in what is referred to as the Lower Plate. This Lower Plate has never been hit on our property. Nevada Pacific Gold, which holds small blocks of land within Tonkin Springs, announced the discovery of Lower Plate rock on its property. This is a very intriguing development in our quest for the next Cortez Hills.

The next steps for US Gold will be to seek a listing on a major American exchange, continue building the management team, along with the board of directors and, lastly, start aggressive drilling on the property!
When I stepped down from Goldcorp earlier this year I felt my skills would be better aligned with the needs of a smaller company. I enjoy leading and investing in small exploration companies because a discovery can transform the outlook for an organization overnight. I view exploration as our research and development and to achieve our goals we are going to have to think differently than our competition. To lead the pack we are going to have to take an innovative approach and speed up the game!

On a final note I wanted to tell you about the new US Gold website at www.usgold.com where you can signup to receive the latest news on the company.

Remember US Gold…Right Time, Right Place, Right Trend!

Ich bin der Meinung dass USD Gold Corp äusserst aussichtsreich ist. Hier das Profil von Yahoo

U.S. Gold Corporation engages in the precious metals and base metals mining business in western U.S. states and Mexico. Its activities include exploration, land acquisition, geological evaluation, and feasibility studies of properties; development and construction of mining and processing facilities; and mining, processing, and the sale of gold and other metals, and by-products. As of June 30, 2004, the company owned 45% interest in the Tonkin Springs gold property in Eureka County, Nevada, and approximately 36.5% equity interest in Gold Resource Corporation, which is exploring the ‘El Aguila’ gold/silver property in Oaxaca, Mexico. The company was organized in 1979 under the name Silver State Mining Corporation and changed its name to U.S. Gold Corporation in 1988. U.S. Gold is based in Lakewood, Colorado.

Hier ein interessantes Interview mit robMcEwen in der FinancialPost von letzter Woche (13. Oktober)

      McEwen still digging for gold

Former Goldcorp chief has his eye on Nevada

      Lori McLeod
      Financial Post

      October 13, 2005

Former Goldcorp Inc. chief executive Rob McEwen was a fixture in the Canadian gold industry for years. But he left Goldcorp earlier this year after he fended off a bid from Glamis Gold Ltd. and steered his company to a merger with Wheaton River Minerals Ltd.

Now this gold bug is throwing his considerable wealth and reputation behind exploration of the Cortez gold trend in north central Nevada. Mr. McEwen spoke with the Post`s Lori McLeod about how a deep drilling approach could lead to paydirt in one of the world`s hottest mining regions.

      Q. After taking a big stake in U.S. Gold Corp. (USGL/OTC BB) you recently took the helm there. Is this your new Goldcorp?

      A. I think it has a lot of potential. It`s in a great district and has a lot of exploration upside. Sitting 10 miles away is Placer Dome`s Cortez Hills discovery, which basically changed the future of this trend, which is called the Battle Mountain/Cortez trend. Placer`s discovery basically said within the trend is Carlin-style mineralization, which is a new revelation. Carlin, which is 20 miles away, is another trend that hosts about 180 million ounces of gold of which about 60 million has been produced so far.

      Q. When did you actually become interested in this property?

      A. I became interested in the Cortez trend several years ago. We were looking to buy an interest in a producing mine there. And I went, "Wow, this is a remarkable part of the world." And that deal didn`t come to pass, and so Goldcorp, through my direction, invested some money in a company called White Knight [Resources Ltd.] (WKR/TSX-V). When I stepped down as CEO [after the merger], the new management group had a preference for buying advanced exploration plays and properties already in production, so the decision was made to sell [the junior exploration portfolio]. I stuck up my hand and said "I`ll buy some of these things you`re selling."

      Q. And these are your own personal investments?

      A. That`s right. I bought a 10% interest in White Knight, which I subsequently increased to 17%. And I`m looking at the claim map which shows this district. At the top of the district you have Newmont [Gold Corp.] and Placer [Dome Inc.] with big land positions ... at the bottom end of the trend you have Newmont [Mining Corp.], Placer and Barrick [Gold Corp.] If you were to think of it as a sandwich, the majors are the two pieces of bread, and in between are a number of small, junior explorers that have a good size chunk of the trend. But they`re underfinanced, and they`ve sold off parts of their properties to majors. But U.S. Gold`s property is still 100% owned, and its very strategically located, it hasn`t been explored at depth ... and White Knight has property on three sides of it.

      Q. What`s the appeal for investors?

      A. You`re in the right country from a standpoint of foreign exchange, you`re in the right state from a standpoint of discoveries, and you`re in the hottest trend in that state. If you could create a vehicle where investors could appreciate the magnitude of discoveries that have been made down there [along with] the possibility of making others, they would say what type of stock do I want to play? Do I want a senior, where I`ll get a move but not much, or do I want to play a junior that has a chance of tripling or more?

      Q. Your involvement has obviously renewed interest in U.S. Gold`s stock.

      A. Everybody who`s joint ventured or run it before has wanted to put the surface resources into production. To me, you don`t want to do that. This is an exploration play, not a small production play.

      Q. How expensive is this kind of exploration and how much cash do you need to raise?

      A. I would like to be sitting on sufficient funds to be able to run for 18 months to two years exploration. So it`s probably about US$10-million. We have to raise that much, probably through an equity investment

      Q. Do you expect an investment from one of the majors on this trend?

      A. No, investors, whether retail or institutional.

Q Tell me about NovaGold Resources Inc. (it has been buying up U.S. Gold shares at the same time as Mr. McEwen).

      A. They own about 16% of the company. They were buying it to do exploration on it. We`ve had discussions because they`re our second largest shareholder and we`d like to keep the door open. Just discussions right now.

Q Are you going to fight if they try to make a run at the company? (He once donned boxing gloves for the photographers in the defence against the Glamis gold bid.)

      A. No, no. They`re good exploration guys.

      Q. What about your other investments?

      A. I have a 12% stake in Guyana Goldfields [Inc.] (GUY/TSX) ... I have about a 50% interest in [oil and gas junior] Lexam [Explorations Inc.] (LEXh/TSX-V). In the early 90s we were drilling for gold on the property and we hit oil. We drilled 42 or 43 holes and 27 of them hit oil and two of them flowed to surface. It was one of these stories that takes your eyebrows and pushes them above your forehead pretty quickly ... It`s a large property package that has some interesting characteristics to it, and it`s the only deep basin in Colorado that hasn`t been drilled.

      Q. Would you sell Lexam to fund your gold exploration plans?

      A. I`d personally like to drill it. It`s a big property. I like large targets.

      Q. What is your outlook for the gold price?

      A. It hasn`t changed. Five years out, US$850 per ounce. I believe we`re now in the second phase of the gold market. The first phase involved gold moving higher against the U.S. dollar. The second phase, which started this year, is gold moving up against all currencies. And the third phase will kick in with public participation and it will start increasing as we start going through US$500 and US$600 per ounce. And it will start running away. But right now gold is not on the radar screen for most people, for most investors.

      Warum US Gold kaufen?
RIGHT TREND, RIGHT PLACE, RIGHT TIME

      Right Trend?

Nevada is the world`s third largest producer of gold, behind South Africa and Australia. The state is home to many of the largest gold deposits on earth, with the most significant discoveries occurring in the Carlin Trend. About 60 million ounces of gold have been produced from the Carlin Trend, with over 120 million still in the ground. This is the result of over 40 gold deposits being discovered in this one trend!

Gold in Nevada is not visible to the naked eye. It is widely dispersed, and is normally found in what is referred to as the "Upper Plate" and "Lower Plates". The upper plate typically hosts low grade gold deposits whereas, the large, multi-million ounce deposits are found within the lower plate. It is the latter that has been the cause of Nevada`s gold rush and U.S. Gold`s interest in Tonkin Springs property.

In 1961, Newmont ventured into the Carlin Trend, a move which turned out to be a very profitable, creating the foundation for the company to become the largest gold producer in the world. By 1963, Newmont`s explorations team had identified a three-million ounce deposit, sufficient to justify a mine even at the then-prevailing gold price of $35 an ounce. Newmont`s first open pit mine and mill began production in 1965.

The heart of the Carlin Trend is about two miles wide and eighteen miles long. The discoveries in this area are so numerous that open pit mines stand side by side, forming a string of gold deposits, not unlike chain of pearls. The elephant deposits (as the huge gold discoveries are called) include Barrick`s 39 million ounce open-pit Betze-Post mine and its 10 million ounce underground Meikle Mine. As well, it includes Newmont`s prolific Carlin Mine. Outside the core area, the Carlin Trend also includes Newmont`s large Gold Quarry Mine to the south and the Midas Mine to the north.

Is the Cortez Trend the next Carlin?
The first major phase of the current Cortez Trend started in 1991 when Placer Dome discovered the Pipeline deposit. Placer Dome had been testing the area to ensure there was no gold beneath surface in order to start construction for a subsequent deposit. Later that year South Pipeline was discovered by the Placer Dome exploration team. Placer Dome made its Cortez Pediment Deposit discovery in 1998, followed by its South Pipeline Extension Deposit Extension discovery in 2000. Many thought the Cortez Trend had the potential to produce other mines, but few believed it could host Carlin type deposits. However, the world of gold mining and the prospects of the Cortez Trend dramatically changed when Placer Dome announced the discovery of Cortez Hills in 2003.

Placer Dome reported the discovery of Cortez Hills in April 2003, with an initial resource of 2.1 million ounces in measured and indicated resource plus an additional 932,000 ounces in inferred resource. Shortly after, measured and indicated resources more than doubled to 4.5 million ounces. By June 30, 2004, the Cortez Hills deposit was estimated to contain 7.5 million ounces of proven and probable reserves, 0.2 million ounces of measured and indicated resources plus an inferred resource of .3 million ounces gold.

In the Cortez Hills deposit, geologists are seeing similarities between it and the discoveries that make up the Carlin Trend. It is noted that the Cortez Pipeline and Cortez Hills deposits share in common with Newmont and Barrick`s Carlin properties such geological characteristics as intrusive proximity, deep rooted fault, sediment host rocks, Carlin-type geochemistry, low silver to gold ratio, and micron-sized gold in Arsenian Pyrite.

Placer Dome`s states in their 2004 Technical Report that their Cortez Joint Venture contained reserves of 15.04 million as of 30 June 2004. The area also has a resource of 8.15 million ounces of gold.

The combined amount of gold comes to a staggering 23.2 million ounces! This total does not include the "ET Blue" discovery, as Placer Dome has not published any information to date.

      Right Place?

The Tonkin Springs property is located on 36 square miles in Nevada`s politically safe, prolific Cortez Trend, a structure which is close to, and parallel with the Carlin Trend, both of which host some of the world`s largest gold deposits. The two trends comprise the largest gold producing region in the United States and third in the world, behind South Africa and Australia!

Today, many parts of the world are proving to be difficult for miners to operate and explore, but Nevada remains one of the most unencumbered places on earth. Miners that are operating in foreign districts have to concern themselves with:

      1. Difficult and tiresome bureaucracy

      2. Political instability

      3. Civilian protests

      4. Foreign exchange fluctuations

      5. Environmental issues

      6. Regulatory hurdles

      7. Nationalization of assets

So why is Nevada the right state for a discovery?

First, Nevada has been home to mining for almost 150 years, starting with the Comstock Lode discovery. Today, Nevada is the world`s third largest gold producer after South Africa and Australia. In a 2004 Survey of Mining Companies carried out by The Fraser Institute, Canada`s economic think tank, Nevada ranked highest in the world for overall mining investment attractiveness. Nevada ranked either first or second in the following categories:

Second, as expenses are paid in U.S. dollars, operations in the Nevada do not have risks of currency fluctuations. This has been a major concern for the gold sector over the past four years as it has completely eliminated excess profits companies were expecting to realize from a higher price of gold.

A perfect example of the effects of currency fluctuations has been in South Africa, where the South African Rand has appreciated in value more than gold when priced in U.S. dollars. This has driven up operating costs faster than revenues and squeezed these miners` profit margins, despite the higher price of gold.

U.S. Gold`s, Tonkin Springs property also benefits from the well developed infrastructure and skilled personnel located within Nevada. These features are becoming much more important as new discoveries are being found in very remote locations.

      Right Time?

Nothing here yet. But there will be a Category

      History of Tonkin Springs

Exploration activities have taken place on the Tonkin Springs property dating back to the 1950`s and 1960`s. Between 1966 and 1980, a considerable amount of exploration was conducted in the area that now hosts one of the known deposits on the property. Companies which conducted exploration during that time, included Homestake Mining, American Selco, Chevron Resources, Placer Amex, Earth Resources and Freeport Exploration. These companies discovered gold mineralization but, at the time, it was generally considered to be too low-grade, too spotty to be of economic interest.

From 1981 to 1985, Energy Reserves Group and Mineral Ventures continued to explore the property until their mining leases were terminated. In January, 1986 U.S. Gold Corporation leased the property and has controlled it ever since.

Exploration in the area that hosts the sulphide deposits began in 1979. At this time, Mineral Ventures conducted sampling program searching for Carlin-type gold deposits. In 1981, Mineral Ventures conducted a drilling program that encountered potentially economic mineralization at what later became known as the TSP-1 deposit. The company continued exploration drilling and, in 1985, U.S. Gold entered into a joint venture on the property with Mineral Ventures. In 1987, U.S. Gold bought control of the company.

The considerable amount of drilling completed by U.S. Gold from the mid to late 1980`s delineated several more small deposits. Mining activities took place that produced over 30,000 ounces of gold, mostly from oxide ores. During the work, many roads were constructed and heap leach pad was built and operated. From 1998 to 1990, in excess of $30 million was spent constructing an on site mill. Many more claims were added to the property position and several exploration targets were found.

From 1991 to 2001, U.S. Gold teamed up with several mining companies to explore the property. Some of the companies included Homestake Mining, Gold Capital, Globex Mining and Agnico-Eagle. Each of these companies conducted an exploration program which laid out different goals.

Homestake drilled 86 reverse circulation and core holes. Though several interesting showings were encountered in this drilling, Homestake determined it had not discovered a deposit that met its corporate objectives and, in 1992, it withdrew from the joint venture.
In 1993, Gold Capital attempted to modify the existing heap leach pad but ran short of financial resources. In February, 1999 it sold its interest to Agnico-Eagle. From 1993 to 1999, little exploration took place on the property.

Agnico-Eagle drilled 107 reverse circulation holes and confirmed the mineral resource at Tonkin Springs. It also extended the known mineralization at various deposits on the property and discovered new gold mineralized zone at the north end of the property. Aginco-Eagle did not find enough economic mineralization to justify its goals and, in October, 2001, also withdrew from the joint venture.

In 2003, BacTech acquired a 55% interest in the property from U.S. Gold. However, BacTech was unable to fulfill the requirements setout in the agreement, giving U.S. Gold 100% ownership over Tonkin Springs.

In July 2005, it was announced that Rob McEwen had purchased 33% of U.S. Gold through a private placement with the company. With the purchase Rob also assumed the position of Chairman and CEO. Over the past twelve years Rob turned Goldcorp Inc. (NYSE: GG; TSX: G) from an investment company with a market capitalization of $50 million into a mining company with a market value of $5.4 billion today.
