If the sceptics’ conspiracy was real, why fake the evidence?
The problem with the great international conspiracy of climate sceptics is that it’s so small and innocent that a disappointed warmist who steals documents from the Heartland Institute finds they must fake the main one to get media attention.
Sounds a bit like their tree-ring research.

"The highest ethical and professional standards while performing outstanding work"

It will be interesting to see how this plays out, for DeSmogBlog has proven not only credible over the past six years, but adept at rolling out its message – something that the scientific community has generally failed to do.

"Perhaps most interesting is the revelation that an anonymous donor gave the institute $4.6 million in 2008, $1.6 million in 2010 and nearly $1 million in 2011.
This donor's contributions bring into question Heartland's purported 'diverse funding base.'
According to the documents, the donor has promised to give even more in 2012."
Ob Helmut Kohl den anonymen Spender kennt?

"Heartland Institute spokesman Jim Lakely confirmed both emails were real."
"On Thursday, Mother Jones also reported that Bast sent another email to donors stating that the group had reported the identity theft and computer fraud to the police and FBI."
"Ross Rice, an FBI special agent in the Chicago field office, said Thursday that "nothing has been reported to our office" from the Heartland Institute.
After reviewing some of the media reports, Rice added, "It would appear that the items were given to outsiders under false pretenses as opposed to a breach of their IT system or theft."
"As such, there would be no legal basis for us to investigate," Rice said."
