Focus Minerals has a major interest in a consolidated package of tenements covering a major portion of the Coolgardie Archean Greenstone Belt in Western Australia.
The package previously included established holdings of approximately 92km2 of tenements south of Coolgardie and 10km2 of tenements near Widgiemooltha. Acquisition of the adjoining Coolgardie Gold Project holdings added a further 95 mineral tenements and tenement applications with an area of approximately 120km2 and in addition, a 1.2 million tonne per annum gold processing plant.
The tenements are prospective for gold mineralisation and contain a number of historic mine workings.
JORC compliant resources containing 1.4 million ounces of gold have been defined on these holdings through drilling programmes.*

Archean Greenstone belts represent a significant source of the world's gold production. It is not uncommon for them to produce million-ounce-plus gold ore bodies to depths in excess of one kilometre.
The Coolgardie Greenstone belt contains approximately a further one million ounces of defined resources in addition to numerous identified gold targets and outstanding exploration potential. There are few projects within the consolidated package where drilling has exceeded depths of 150 metres and mineralisation remains open to depth in most areas.
The combined package is the largest contiguous block of land ever to be held by a single operator in the Coolgardie area. Through a joint venture agreement the Company has secured adequate funding and technical input to do justice to the exploration potential of the project.
The consolidation of tenements and Joint Venture partnership will enable a coherent regional exploration program to be implemented over an area that has historically suffered from fragmented ownership. They provide a significant commercial advantage over previous owners, who often lacked capital.
Further, the existing Three Mile Hill treatment plant and associated infrastructure will allow for a "turn key" project start up once reserves and resources to sustain a five year mine plan have been identified.

The Mount Project is located 3km west of Widgiemooltha and consists of a granted mining lease and several prospecting licences totalling 10.2km2 in area (Figure 6).
Historical production from 1921 to 1987 was 35,958 tonnes at 8.82g/t Au. Recent mining, prior to the purchase of the project by Focus Minerals in 2003, produced 20,791 tonnes of ore from shallow underground mining at an average grade of 8.18g/t Au, and 19,699 tonnes at 3.58g/t Au from a small open pit in the northern part of the mining lease.
Gold occurs within a series of sub-vertical, parallel, quartz, tourmaline, chalcopyrite veins hosted in mafic/ultramafic rocks in the core of a regional north plunging synform. The veins average 2 metres in thickness, are typically 10-25 metres apart and have strike lengths of up to 600 metres.
Linking structures between the veins are sometimes associated with wide zones of quartz breccia and high gold grades. Although limited in physical extent they represent potential "bonanza" zones which have returned intercepts from drilling of 11m at 21.7g/t, 20m at 12.8g/t, 19m at 14.0g/t, 12m at 6.3g/t and 4m at 37.9g/t.
An inferred resource of 2,090,000 tonnes at 5.5g/t Au containing 369,500 ounces of gold has been estimated to an average depth of 200m. The resource is defined by RC and diamond drilling on a 40mx20m pattern.
Mineralisation is open to depth with an intercept of 2m at 24g/t at 315m below surface demonstrating the potential to increase the resource. Structures hosting mineralisation continue along strike both north and south where further work is planned.
In addition, surface geochemistry and EM surveys have identified a number of regional coincident gold and base metal anomalies which will be followed up in the near future.
