Wie soll dieses Geschäft jemals positiv werden??
Die Aktie ist maßlos überbewertet für das was das Unternehmen in der Realität abliefert.

Enphase Acquires Next Phase Solar, Gains 400 MW of O&M Assets

      Meg Cichon, Associate Editor, RenewableEnergyWorld.com

Massachusetts, USA -- Microinverter manufacturer Enphase announced today that it is significantly expanding its energy services arm with the acquisition of California-based O&M provider Next Phase Solar. Enphase Energy Services’ (EES) gained more than 400 MW of solar assets with the deal. With the new assets, the Enphase solar portfolio is now more than 450 MW.

Enphase has been slowly inching its way into the solar service business on both a residential and commercial scale, and may even tap utility-scale projects in the near future, according to Marty Rogers, Enphase’s vice president of worldwide customer service and support. Last year Enphase announced a partnership with solar crowdfunding platform Mosaic to offer O&M services to residential solar loan customers. More recently, it announced a commercial O&M offering that combines its C250 commercial microinverter technology with services that assist the design, installation and maintenance of solar projects, including cloud-based monitoring and a dedicated service team.

Next Phase Solar adds both residential and commercial projects to Enphase’s portfolio — about 70 percent of those are commercial installations, and the remaining 30 percent residential with a small amount of utility-scale.

“This is a repeatable business and it will be interesting moving forward since the market is really based on both the increase and age of installations,” said Rogers. “We don't see anyone else grabbing this market sector, so we decided it was a great move for us to go after it.”

With services that encompass project needs from start to finish, Enphase claims that its system will reduce financial uncertainty and capital costs while enhancing system performance and ultimately the return on investment (ROI). It’s sort of like commercial office space, explained Rogers. If an owner maintains office space with the highest levels of efficiency, the asset will stay strong and valuable. However, if the owner leaves the asset alone, it will decrease in value over time. “What we’re saying is: Let’s create asset value over a longer period of time, and include documentation to prove that it has been maintained — this will prolong the life and value of the system.”

Enphase also revealed a new Energy Management System at the 2014 Solar Power International (SPI) conference, which is set to hit the market in the third quarter of 2015. The system combines its microinverters, storage and monitoring technology and aims to satisfy the growing commercial and residential storage-plus-solar market that is set to reach 318 MW by 2018.

“The energy storage business requires service, and it will be important to have the right teams in the right places to maintain systems,” said Rogers. “This will be huge for those trying to dive into residential storage, and I can’t think of one company that has a residential fleet for service — but you have got to have this.”

Enphase Energy: Taking Advantage Of The Residential Solar Boom
Jan. 2, 2015 9:16 AM ET | 3 comments | About: Enphase Energy Inc. (ENPH)

Disclosure: The author has no positions in any stocks mentioned, and no plans to initiate any positions within the next 72 hours. (More...)
      Summary

The booming residential solar environment will be extremely conducive to Enphase's continued growth.
Enphase Energy's smart microinverters perfectly complement distributed residential solar.
While Enphase dominates the microinverter market, the industry is still extremely young, with competition steadily increasing.
The company continues to produce record breaking growth numbers, and has not shown any signs of slowing down.

The residential solar sector has been heating up in recent years. While utility-scale solar has traditionally dominated the solar space, distributed solar generation is becoming increasingly important. In fact, residential solar has been growing at a CAGR of 40%-50% for the past decade or so. There is no longer denying that residential solar has a place in the solar generation, and may one day even come to dominate it.

While solar panels have traditionally been the face of solar power, there are in fact many other essential components that make up a solar system. Enphase Energy (NASDAQ:ENPH) provides one of these components in the form of microinverters, which convert direct currents from a single panel to alternating currents for home use or grid use.

Enphase's prospects go hand in hand with that of residential solar's. As I have written about before, it is very possible that distributed solar generation will displace utility-scale generation in the future. This implies massive potential for the current residential solar market as the residential solar market only accounts for a fraction of a percent of total energy output in the United States. As the residential solar market continues to grow at its breakneck pace, Enphase will stand to gain immensely.
Advantages of Microinverters over Traditional Inverters

Traditional inverters connect multiple solar panels into a single inverter, which means that just one faulty panel could affect the entire solar array and cause reduced to no electricity production. This means that system owners would constantly have to be on watch for each and every one of their panels to ensure maximal energy output.

On the other hand, microinverters (debuted by Enphase in 2008) have the ability to connect to individual panels on a micro-level, which essentially allows each single panel to act as a separate entity. This means if one panel stops producing energy for some reason, none of the output from the other panels in the system would be affected. For instance, if debris were to fall on one panel, the entire solar array would not suffer a disproportionate amount of reduced energy output, but rather just that one specific panel. This is obviously a huge advantage as entire system production is not constantly interrupted by the problem of just one or a few panels.
Market Leadership in a Booming Industry

Enphase has pioneered the microinverter industry, taking a massive amount of marketshare in the process. The company has consistently grown at an incredible rate since its inception, and currently dominates the microinverter market. In 2011, the company had shipped 1 million units of its microinverters. Fast forward 3 years to 2014, and the company has shipped approximately 6.4 million units, which represents over 1 GW. In other words, the company's shipments have almost doubled in size every year since 2011.

The company also offers smart home services, including solar panel energy management through its smart software. The microinverter itself is also a smart device capable of capturing energy data from solar arrays. The smart home market will be instrumental in the transition from utility generation to distributed generation, where home energy management becomes much more important. Enphase has proven itself to be a market leader in more ways than one, even successfully integrating smart energy technologies into its microinverters.
      Risks

Although Enphase is currently dominating the microinverter space, this market is still extremely young, with new entrants constantly flooding the market. In fact, prices for microinverters have been consistently falling over the past few years, with an 11% price drop in 2013 alone. Despite this, the market has been stabilizing in recent quarters, and Enphase should be able to benefit greatly from this.
      Financials

Enphase continues to grow at an incredible rate with record breaking numbers. In quarter 3, the company recorded a revenue of $99.1M, which is up 60% YoY. The company also recorded a huge gross margin of 33.0%, which is a 470 bps improvement YoY. In addition, the company recorded a solid cash flow from operations of $11.2M. It is clear that Enphase is continuing its fast-paced growth, which has been aided by the incredible growth of residential solar.

Enphase's stock has nearly tripled in the last year alone, which is not a surprise given the company's fantastic numbers. Despite the huge growth in valuation over the past year, the company is still undervalued at a market capitalization of $623M. With its consistently record breaking revenues and solid gross margins, Enphase still has incredible upside. On top of this, the residential solar markets in which Enphase is so intricately tied are still woefully under-penetrated, which implies continued breakneck growth for the foreseeable future.
      Conclusion

Enphase has done a wonderful job in developing a niche market that could very well go mainstream in the near-term future. With the explosion of residential solar and smart home technologies, Enphase's products and services will be needed more than ever. The explosive growth of distributed solar is poised to change the landscape of the energy industry, and Enphase is in prime position to take advantage of this trend.
