Mon Jun 12 08:01:00 EDT 2000
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Jun 12, 2000 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Nuance (Nasdaq:
NUAN), the leader in voice interface software, today announced that it has
signed deals with BT Syncordia Solutions, Deutsche Telekom and NTT Software to
deliver a broad range of products and services based on Nuance`s market-leading
speech recognition and voice browsing software. Together with Nuance, these
companies will extend access to the Voice Web -- a growing network of
voice-enabled content and commerce sites, and telecommunications services --
through the United Kingdom, Europe and Japan. The agreements were announced
today at V-World, Nuance`s annual speech conference taking place this week in
Scottsdale, Ariz.
"Nuance is creating the infrastructure and enabling an ecosystem for the Voice
Web," said Ronald Croen, president and CEO of Nuance. "We are excited to be
working with these key telecommunications infrastructure providers to realize
the enormous potential of the Voice Web."
BT Syncordia Solutions, Deutsche Telekom and NTT Software will work with Nuance
on a variety of solutions and products for the Voice Web, including those that
address the businesses and consumer markets. BT Syncordia Solutions will pursue
voice offerings in the United Kingdom, and adapt Nuance`s Voyager(TM) voice
browser for use in Europe. T-Mobil, the cellular business group of Deutsche
Telekom will focus on the creation and deployment of voice-enabled services for
its mobile consumers in Germany. And NTT Software will use Nuance`s core speech
recognition and voice authentication software to deliver a broad range of
natural language speech applications in Japan.
"With Voyager, people can place phone calls and reach speech applications or
`voice sites` on the Voice Web. This is a groundbreaking concept that will have
significant impact in the industry," said Jeremy Stafford, general manager of
the eCRM Solutions Division within BT Syncordia Solutions. "It fits with BT`s
vision of providing broad access to the Internet, and can become the basis for
providing information services through natural language speech technology. We
will be working closely with Nuance in the months ahead, developing, testing and
deploying Voyager-based solutions for customers who are looking for a means of
competitive differentiation in e-commerce applications."
