ersteinmal herzlichen glückwunsch für das schätzchen auf das du uns hier aufmerksam gemacht hast. gutes näschen gehabt so denke ich .
mein kursziel [eigentlich mehr eine einschätzung der marktpsychologie] lautet:

danach werden sicherlich viele aussteigen und kasse machen.der wert könnte danach wieder kräftig fallen . weiteres wird sich aufgrund der unternehmensmeldungen ergeben

Wie bist du eigentlich auf das Teil gekommen ?

Ziel: wie mein Vorredner - schätze wir können den 1 $ sehen, innerhalb der nächsten 2 -3 Wochen.

Wenn ich mir allerdings bifs anschaue, als der push auf ca. 2,5 $ kam und die Marktkapetalizierung
(zugegeben nur für 1-2 Stunden bei bifs) auf DNAP umrechne, komme ich auf ca 3,5 - 4 $ Ziel
für DNAP !!!!!!!!!!! (ist natürlich alles nur Psychologie und Äpfel mit Birnen vergleichen - ich weiss, aber
viele von den bifs steigen anscheinend in DNAP ein - also, warum nicht ?)

Auf DNAP bin ich zufällig gestoßen! Irgendwo bin ich auf eine Nachricht gestoßen, das CYLC sich in DNAP umbenennt! Dann hab ich verfolgt um was es bei dem ganzen Deal geht. Und sieheda, es war außerordentlich interessant!

Ich persönlich warte jetzt ab bis 1$. Danach werde ich mich weiter entscheiden!

Quotes bis jetzt 0.14 - 0.156, bei wieder sattem Volumen, im Moment 3.4M , aktuell 0.153, hab nocheinmal bei 0.15 nachgelegt.

Nimmt jetzt schon einen schönen Teil im Portfolio ein, kann aber nicht anders LOL...

Vielleicht werden wir die nächsten Tage keine sprunghaften Steigerungen sehen, schaut im Moment nach einem steady rise aus, so 1-2 cents am Tag, später mehr...

Zum Kursziel nur soviel: Unter einem Dollar fang ich nichteinmal zu Überlegen an, ob das jetzt im Oktober ist oder in zwei Wochen.

Ich müßte aber zugeben, daß ich, wenns einen irrealen Hype geben sollte, versuchen würde, die Spitze zu erwischen, bei 3 Dollar würde ich vielleicht weich werden, wiewohl ich nachwievor der Meinung bin, das DNAprint Genomics in 2stellige Dollarranges vorstoßen wird, auf lange Sicht!

Das wirklich große Geld macht man nur LONG!!

Ich überlegs mir, wenns soweit ist!

Die WKN von DNAP ist 940906, aber wie ich im anderen Thread gelesen habe, ist es aber zB bei Comdirect nicht möglich DNAP zu kaufen, bei Consors schon.

Wahrscheinlich wird das erst dann bei allen BAnken möglich sein, wenn DNAP an der OTC BB gehandelt werden kann, nur so eine Vermutung von mir.

mögen diese guten Zukunftsaussichten für DNAP doch wahr werden, das kann ich uns allen nur wünschen. Auch wenn es noch etwas länger als ein paar Wochen dauern sollte. Also ich werde langfristig investiert bleiben und abwarten. Mal sehen was hier noch alles kommt.

SARASOTA, Fla., Aug 22, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- DNAPrint genomics (Pink
SheetsNAP) announced today the addition of the 2,000th candidate SNP to its
Phenome(SM) database. The Phenome(SM) database contains a high-density map of
SNP and haplotypes candidates for certain human genes of pharmacogenomic and
cancer genetics value. This is believed to be one of the highest resolution SNP
maps for genes of critical import to these two fields, and will be used by the
company in conjunction with the public SNP database, as a platform upon which
the companies work will be performed. The milestone of having made the 2,000th
addition to this database allows the company the opportunity to share with its
shareholders the value of the database and to highlight the DNAPrint genomics
approach.

The SNP consortium is slated to add a large collection of SNPs and corresponding
sub-population allele frequencies to the public database. The value of this
database is its widespread coverage of the human genome and its accessibility
free of charge to researchers all over the world. The genome wide coverage of
the public SNP database make it well suited for genome-wide linkage studies
which will require a SNP, on average, every 3Kb of the human genome. These types
of systematic studies will allow workers to identify important linkage
disequilibria, or "physical relationships" between SNPs and disease/trait genes.

Targeted Scanning is an alternative to systematic genome wide scanning, and
focuses on surveying smaller number of genes in greater detail. The value of
this approach can be appreciated from the decades of research that have
contributed to our understanding of human disease. Studies of drug metabolism
and cancer have shown a relatively small collection of genes, and gene types, to
be responsible for a vast majority of problems. Pharmacogenetic studies have
shown that polymorphism in xenobiotic metabolism proteins such as cytochrome
p450 genes and N-acetyltransferases, among others to be associated with aberrant
drug metabolism, resulting in some cases in hepatocellular toxicity or other
"side-effects". Work in the field of cancer has shown that mutations in genes
normally involved in these genes, as well as other basic tasks such as cell
cycle regulation and DNA repair play important roles for this disease. Thus,
certain phenotypic traits such as drug metabolism or cancer, are well suited for
a targeted scanning study design.

Notwithstanding its tremendous value, the pan-genome coverage of the public
database comes at the expense of individual gene resolution. Since the public
SNP database will contain relatively few SNPs for most human genes, there is and
will remain a need for higher resolution SNP maps for many of the most
"important" genes of clinical value. The public resources will contain no
information on genetic haplotypes, or phase coupled genotype sets, which have
considerable power for discovering genotype-phenotype associations. Further, the
public SNP database will not be available publicly for some time. Lastly, most
of the public SNP database will have come from healthy donors used for the human
genome project and related efforts and therefore may biased against SNPs which
play a role in human pathologies.

Because of these anticipated deficiencies, DNAPrint genomics has been building
its own candidate SNP and Haplotype database, called the Phenome(SM) database.
The database focuses on many of the most "important" human drug metabolism and
disease genes whose function is compromised in certain individuals who show drug
side-effects or neoplastic disease. The database serves as a foundation for
virtually any pharmacogenomic or cancer genetic study and is derived from two
main sources: the application of a proprietary and automated set of data mining
algorithms to the public (NCBI) EST/mRNA and Gene database, and through a
process called "re-sequencing" where the large regions of the genes are actually
sequenced from target patient groups. Resequencing involves obtaining long read
sequences in contrast to single base, high-throughput SNP scoring which relies
on the existence of an accurate SNP map such as the Phenome(SM) or public
database. Candidate SNPs are accompanied by extensive annotation and 200bp of
flanking DNA sequence that facilitates SNP scoring study design. SNPs for over
100 "important" human genes have been discovered, and approximately 20
high-quality candidate SNPs have been identified for each of these genes. The
density of high quality SNP candidates within these genes is higher than the
frequency of SNPs expected in the human genome from work by others
(approximately 1 per 1000 base pairs). Further, the average gene in the
Phenome(SM) database contains over 10 times the number of candidate SNPs that
are currently available in the public database. SNPs for many of these genes
have been discovered to be part of major population Haplotypes. The company will
use this proprietary database as a foundation for its first SNP/Haplotype
association and linkage disequilibrium studies for Pharmacogenomics and breast
cancer. In addition to providing a proprietary database resource platform not
available through the public SNP database, it enables the company to conduct
detailed and high-resolution studies well in advance of those organizations
awaiting the completion of the public database.

The Phenome(SM) database recently recorded its 2000th entry, and is scheduled to
add its 5,000th entry later this year. To the companies knowledge, it is one of
the first databases of its kind to focus on resolution within "important" genes
rather than across the entire genome, and will offer the company a decided
advantage in its high-throughput SNP/Haplotype scoring studies. The company
intends to copyright the database, and patent its components discovered to be
associated with clinical pathologies as "diagnomics" products.

Diese message ist grad einmal eine Woche alt, ich denke es hat sich nichts geändert:

Today I talked to Craig Hall [phone], He informed me that there was great concern on this matter throughout CLYC and DNAP talks on Reverse Split because of the 269 million outstanding shares. They came to a final decision not to have a reverse split at this time, because of the extreme bullish beleif in the genomics feild. This industry will change medical boundaries and thus push shares prices upward. But if in the event that in the next 18 months the stock is not above $4 to list DNAP on NASDAQ, it would consider a Reverse Split to move DNAP to the next stage. But for the next 18 months they don`t see a Reverse Split.

genetic profile for enhanced efficacy and safety.


DNA was only discovered a few short decades ago. Today, it is the basis of present and future medical progress. The last
decade has witnessed the “genomics era” – a term used to describe the staggering advancement of human genetic knowledge.
During this time, man has produced the first ever genetic map for the human race, and the first draft of the genetic sequence that
makes up a human being has to date been catalogued away. But it is more than just information that is being produced – it is
power. Power to reduce suffering and illness. The medical revolution brought about by the genomics era will forever change the
lives of normal people like you and me. How? By changing the way medicine of the future is practiced; by enabling a
personalization of medicine.
Personalized medicine relies on creating a partial map of the genetic makeup of a person on a tiny microchip and using that map
to diagnose disease or determine the proper course of drug treatment. By reading a person’s genetic map, it is possible to tell a
lot about that person. That is because what is read on the chip is the DNA sequence, which by the laws of biology, and in
conjunction with the environment, encodes the blueprint for all of a persons physical characteristics. By creating databases of
genetic maps for sick people, and comparing the information to databases for healthy controls in case-control format, “solutions”
for common genetic afflictions can be discovered. These solutions can be used diagnose and predict disease. Further, and more
important economically, genomic information can be used on a population scale to “solve” liver toxcicity problems associated with
certain pharmaceutical products. How? First you must understand how pharmaceutical companies develop drugs.

At the present time, drugs are passed through clinical trials and eventually prescribed by doctors based on their performance in a
population of people. They are therefore approved or disapproved based on means of population responses. Good drugs tend to
help a significant percentage of the population with a low incidence of side effect frequency in the population while bad ones show
poor efficacy and/or dangerous side effects in a significant percentage of the population. However, in reality, each person reacts
to a drug differently because their genetic make-up is unique. Some people, because of their genetic profiles, do not respond to
the drug, or worse, have adverse reactions to it. Just because a drug has a low incidence of side effects does not mean that it is
a safe drug. In fact, hepatocellular toxcicity is frequently monitored in patients undergoing treatment with a variety of drugs like
Lamisil or Lipitor. After receiving a prescription to these drugs, patients have to return to the doctor a month later to see if their
liver is being damaged. This entails submitting another blood specimen for a liver enzyme or uric acid test. The reason for this is
that patients differ in their ability to degrade drugs, and other foreign materials in the blood stream (collectively called xenobiotics).
When a person has difficulty degrading the xenobiotic, the levels of the drug and/or degradation intermediates remain elevated in
the blood stream. The liver responds to this by making more degradation enzymes and the test results showing abnormally high
liver enzyme activity is an indication of liver stress called hepatocellular toxcicity. The purpose of the test is to identify these
unsuitable patients so that more serious liver damage can be avoided.
Damage arises from the xenobiotic by-products themselves that are not degraded properly in sensitive patients. They wreak
havoc on cells all over the body – and the primary means of defense (metabolism or degradation) is disabled. Disease also
arises in the liver directly, due to stress experienced by the liver, which is “tricked” into over-producing liver enzymes that have no
effect on that which induces their expression. Prolonged exposure to xenobiotics in such patients can lead to liver disease,
eventual liver shut-down and even death. Though the FDA approves drugs based on a low frequency of such cases during clinical
trials, even minor liver sensitivity likely causes harm to a patient over that patients lifetime. A growing community of medical
experts are beginning to suspect that even subtle liver stress, when prolonged, can impair a persons overall health by reducing
the health of that persons liver and immune system. Many medical professionals are beginning to suspect that our nations cancer
epidemic is, in part, due to the indiscriminant use of pharmaceutical products which are not processed well by the human
metabolic system. What makes the use indiscriminant is the prescription of the drug irrespective of patient’s ability to degrade it.
Until now, it has been next to impossible to determine which genetic characteristics make a person a good responder or poor
responder to a drug (i.e. a good degrader or poor degrader). During clinical trials, pharmaceutical companies loose billions of
dollars a year in failed drug candidates because the drug had an adverse affect on an unacceptable fraction of the human
population. Drugs that would be very helpful to, say 95% of the population are discarded because they hurt 5% of the population
that is genetically incompetent to handle the drug. Obviously, this is a sub-optimal way to foster pharmaceutical innovation and
many helpful products are abandoned each year. The field of Pharmacogenetics was borne from this problem. Simply stated, it is
the field of matching patient genetic profile with drug response. Until now, such studies have been overly simplistic due to our lack
of understanding of the human genetic code. Because of the human genome project, a new way of predicting human drug
response in terms of genetic profiles is now upon us, and this field has been renamed Pharmacogenomics. Pharmacogenomics
will allow us to predict drug efficacy and safety on a new scale. Instead of explaining 20% of the variance in the population,
Pharmacogenomic methods involving millions of genetic data points will allow explanations of much higher – even all – of the
variance and offer complete “solutions”. Application of Pharmacogenomic methods for human populations and individual humans
is what personalized medicine is all about. So, how is personalized medicine possible?

Pharmaceutical companies conducting clinical trials are beginning to use human genome information to construct genetic maps
of those people involved in the trial. In this way, they can analyze their treatment results in light of the genetic profile for
populations of patients and thereby conduct association studies. In these studies, genetic patterns from a receptive population
(for example, patients that can degrade the drug) are compared with genetic patterns from non-receptive populations (patients
hurt by the drug). Thus, a “solution” for a drug can be obtained. Such a “solution” can lead to what are called “classification” tools
whereby a given patient can be identified as a responder or a non-responder. Pharmacogenomics methods will allow the
identification of genetic determinants that differentiate receptive/sensitive people from a non-receptive/sensitive people, on a more
holistic and legitimate scale than ever before. The actual genetic determinants are called Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms
(SNP’s) and they represent tiny differences in genetic sequence between different people. Although we all have the same set of
genes (whose arrangement in DNA sequence is called the genome), we each have different “flavors” of each gene determined by
our genetic heritage. SNPs are the things that make each of these “flavors” different from each other and each person has a
different and unique set of SNPs even though they have the same genes. Determining a persons SNP pattern is called SNP
profiling, and this new technology will allow a personalized approach to medicine for the first time in human history. Companies
like IBM, AstraZeneca PLC, Aventis Pharma, Bayer AG, Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, F. Hoffman-La Roche, Glaxo Wellcome
PLC, Novartis, Pfizer Inc, Searle, and SmithKline Beecham PLC and Motorola, Inc. are spending hundreds of millions of dollars to
conduct these kinds of studies in order to address the worlds leading diseases and drugs

Unfortunately for these companies, while tools have been developed to acquire genetic data on a massive scale, there is a sore
need for analytical tools sophisticated enough to understand it. In other words – to find the associations between genes and traits.
Admittedly, this is difficult to believe, but it is true. The reason is that most human genetic traits are not simply inherited. Some
traits are simple. Eye color is an example of this – brown or black is dominant over blue. However, for most human traits,
inheritence is far more complex. Just because a mother and father are sensitive to a drug, does not mean the child will be.
Learning the genetic sequence of the mother and father are not enough – we must look at populations of similar mothers and
fathers in order to draw statistically relevant associations between the trait and its genetic root.

The problem facing the genomics industry right now is a lack of mathematically sophisticated analytical tools by which to
understand the massive amount of data involved. No global or holistic tools exist. Without these, genomic data is of limited value.
Craig Venter of Celera Genomics has publicly stated several times that obtaining the genomic sequence is the first and easiest
step. He, as well as many other leading scientists believe that figuring out how to understand it represents the challenge for the
next several decades. In order to apply this tremendous tool to medical advancement, we must figure out how to understand it on
terms that are biologically and medically meaningful.

First, some background on how SNPs are “scored” or analyzed.

SNP technology has just now been enabled by the completion of the Human Genome Project, a multi-billion dollar, multi-year
international effort funded by the Wellcome Trust and the National Institutes of Health. It has also been enabled by recent
advancements in hardware technology (i.e. Sequenom Inc. of San Diego, CA and Orchid Biosciences of Princeton NJ). Today,
for the first time in history, it is possible to create microchips of SNP data for any population or any person, and analyze
thousands and thousands of genes that contribute to the biological and psychological make-up of a person. For
Pharmacogenomic studies, the genes focused on are those that are involved in the metabolism of xenobiotic compounds.

How exactly does it work? Hundreds of DNA sequences are isolated from a patient, amplified and sprayed onto a tiny microchip
using a special machine. This DNA is then read using a machine called a mass spectromoter or a genetic bit analyzer. Until now,
sequencing involved multiple steps and reagents, but now with the new genomics tools, it takes about 3-5 seconds to read a
samples sequence, and about 20 minutes to read 384 sequences for a given person. The collection of sequences that results
constitutes the persons SNP profile for those markers tested. By building databases of profiles and comparing them to databases
of drug sensitivity/side-effect databases, drug companies hope to be able to stratify the drug treatment results based on patient
genetic profiles. In so doing, a drug that would have failed a trial in the past because it caused a reaction in a specific subset of
the population, is now a success and approved for prescription to everyone else.

However, as wonderful as personalized medicine is, it is still in its infancy. Firstly, all companies performing Pharmacogenomic
studies are focusing on new drugs, not drugs that have already been FDA approved. Secondly, no companies have the ability to
analyze their data on anything other than a very simple format. Most current SNP testing is performed for patients with specific
genetic diseases and simple genetic mutations, which are relatively rare and therefore of limited economic value. The reason is
that “solutions” for these cases tend to be simple. However, over 99% of all human traits, including drug response or disease, are
the result of complex genetic interactions (interactions between genes, between genes and environment etc.). This is true even
though the future of this technology is its power to unravel multi-genic phenotypes and diseases. Complex analytical software will
need to be designed, appropriate SNP batteries defined and donors assembled corresponding to the various phenotypes in order
to obtain “true” solutions for these problems. Why haven’t these things been done yet? The first reason is that SNP technology is
still too new, and the simple problems are the first to be addressed. The second reason is that finding complex patterns in genetic
data is mathematically and scientifically difficult. There are simply too few people in the world with the combination of
mathematical, programming and biological knowledge necessary to effectively work on these problems.

That is where we come in.

DNAPrint genomics intends to be the first to focus on “mining” SNP data for multi-genic phenotype information. We intend to do
this by building a unique informatics platform.

Why multi-genic phenotypes? What are some applications? How a patient interacts with a drug is a function of multi-genic
determinants, and so multi-genic analysis has enormous implications for the development of personalized medicine. Physical
characteristics such as height and weight, arel determined by multiple genes interacting with each other. So too are drug
responses or disease succeptibility (i.e. cancer). There is no drug interaction gene or cancer gene; there are several 10s or even
100s of genes that determine these traits. Thus learning how to mine physical trait information from SNP arrays would have
implications for forensic and medical science, and the “solution” for these problems represent a sort of “diagnostic” product for a
drug, that operates by preventing a disease or medical problem rather than simply tell a doctor that a person has a disease or
medical problem. In this way, they can help prevent disease, not just report that disease exists. They are therefore more valuable
than diagnostic products, which generate billioins of dollars each year for their discoverers. However, these “solutions” await the

Science has shown that over 99% of known phenotypes (physical traits) are more a function of complex multi-gene interactions
within and between genetic pathways than single genes (Voehringer et al., PNAS 2100: 97(6) 2680-2685; Xue et al., Cancer Res
2000 60(4):839-841; Weatherall et al., Philos Trans Soc Lond B Bio Sci 1999 354(1352):1995-2010; Nicholls et al., Acta Paediatr

more extensive list of references). Most drug response studies, for example, have nevertheless considered only simple genetic
causes – single SNPs not complex patterns of SNPs. Thus, the multigenic analysis platform technology we construct will have
enormous implications for making personalized medicine (and even “smart forensics” a reality).

Our first mission is to develop these sophisticated software analytical tools. Once developed, virtually every hospital practicing
medicine of the future (personalized medicine) will have a need for our system. Research institutes and biotech companies using
human genomic information will also have need for our product. During the course of our work, we will be “training” our system to
recognize patterns by applying it to several human trait “problems”, such as drug side-effects or disease states. The “solutions”
obtained from these applications constitute a separate but valuable product. The “solutions” can be used to match patients with
drugs and identify the disease succeptible. As such, they will be among the very first personalized medical products on the
market. Our analytical tools, which constitute our informatics platform, will enable us to recognize the “solution” in the data. Not
only will we be the only company able to generate these “solutions” using proprietary mathematics and programming strategies,
but we will be addressing problems that no other company is addressing.

Several types of personalized genetic markets are identified:

Personalized Medicine.
The public market ultimately represents the greatest single source of revenue for our products. There is an opportunity here, for
the first time in history, to “solve” drug interaction problems that have been vexing to doctors and patients for years. As mentioned
already, most pharmaceutical companies are focusing their “simplistic” analytical tools on new drugs so that they can help them
pass through the FDA approval process. Logistically, they do not have the time, money or motivation to address already FDA
approved drugs with existing markets. Though “problems” represent a huge potential market for personalized medical products or
“solutions”, this market is largely ignored at present because the focus of big Pharma is to push new drugs through clinical trials
to generate new revenue producing products. We have forged relationships with local diagnostic clinics whereby these clinics are
supplying us with a) blood samples from elderly patients taking a variety of drugs in South Florida and b) hepatocellular toxcicity
test results for each sample. These labs actually perform the “liver tests” for local hospitals. Rather than pay for biohazard
disposal of excess blood, they ship the samples to us and we perform our own pharmacogenomics testing on them to find their
“solutions”. Each drug “solution” that we generate is a separate, viable diagnostic product for a new, more responsible and safer
personalized medicine.
Further, there is a market for our product in new drug discovery. Our tools and datasets can help pharmaceutical companies
obtain genetic “solutions” for their new drugs.
One “solution” on its own will likely induce some of these pharmaceutical companies to talk “buy out” with us. And we intend to
generate a portfolio of “solutions”.
As genetic “solutions” are produced and publicized, the demand for individual people to have their SNP profiles produced will
skyrocket. Why take a drug that may damage your liver and lead to immune system depression – even cancer – when a simple
blood or saliva test exists for determining this possibility before-hand? Hospitals of the future will have high-throughput genotyping
equipment, and we feel that our informatics product and trait “solutions” will form a platform and knowledge base for analyzing the
results produced with such equipment.
There are several ways to address this niche. One model is called direct-to-patient genotyping, whereby we can perform the
genetic testing and analysis for patients over the internet. Since we will be the only company with the “solution” for a drug or
disease, only we can offer a patient “classification” using a patients genotype profile. Alternatively, we can license our platform
technology for application to direct-to-patient genotyping performed by other diagnostic and clinical laboratories. In this way, we
can be paid for a much larger number of tests than we could perform at our facility. We can still exercise monopolistic power with
our patent protected platform and “solutions” by offering restricted access to the “solutions” via an ASP model. In this model, it
would likely be most profitable.

Dazu muß ich sagen, ich persönlich warte noch immer in aller Selenruhe darauf meinen Depotbestand in DNAP günstig ein- oder zweimal zu verdoppeln, wenn`s mir noch gelingt. Nach grob rd. 100 % Anstieg in den letzten Tagen wäre ich froh nochmal irgendwo unter 10 cent einen Nachschlag einheimsen zu können.

Ich liebe mich dafür, daß ich bei 0.10 und 0.15 nachgekauft habe LOL

Da die Frage aufgetaucht ist, wieviel Anteil ein Stock wie DNAP im Portfolio einnehmen soll, kann oder darf, vielleicht auch muss, kann einem niemand sagen.

Ich habe nicht sehr viel Kapital und dieses setze ich auf OTC BB Werte und auch auf Pinks, ein paar Optionen.

Wenn ich eine Million DM zur Verfügung hätte zB, würde ich in dieser Spielklasse nur mehr mit 30% vertreten sein.

Jedenfalls kaufe ich DNAP nach, mit Glück noch unter 0.20, leider sind nicht mehr solche Stückzahlen wie mit 0.070 möglich, aber immerhin.

Gleich vorweg, ich besitze auch ein paar DNAP Aktien, aber schon jetzt von Kurszielen um mehrere tausend Prozent zu sprechen
halte ich für übertrieben. Nur weil irgendeine Internetseite von Solchen Kurszielen spricht sollte man doch auf dem Boden der Tatsachen bleiben,
und sich bewusst sein, das es sich hier um eine Pink Sheets Aktie handelt. Genausogut können wir binner Stunden auf 5 Cent abschmieren.
Also, bitte nur Spielgeld! DNAP stellt für mich keine Geldanlage dar!
Wenn`s klappt, ist`s schön - wenn nicht ist es wie ein Lottoschein, der wieder mal nichts gebracht hat.

Deinen Ansichten kann auch ich zustimmen, nur Spielgeld einsetzen und nicht zuviel riskieren. Man kann halt sonst zu schnell auch alles verlieren, darüber sollten sich alle auch in dieser Kurs-Euphorie bewußt sein und bleiben.
Aber es wäre halt schön, wenn wir mal den richten Lottoschein getippt hätten.

Morchel: war echt ein toller Tip, normal versuche ich sowas ja zu widerstehen, aber DNAP hörte sich enfach gut an ... allein
hype technisch steigen die noch ausreichend ... allerdings mag ich das gar nicht, danach (P&D) stürzt alles immer so blöd ab LOL
Hyperei ist mir zuwider ... als $50 gehört habe, wurde mir echt schlecht ... kleine Ziele stecken und nicht gierig werden
Aber diese Kursziele dienen ja wohl eher dazu, mehr Leute ins Boot zu ziehen. Solche Aussagen kann man ja wohl kaum jetzt treffen,
erstmal sehen, ob die Jungs den Laden auch geschmissen kriegen und Ihre Technik den Bewertungen
von Branchenprofis standhält. BTW: Einladungen zu kriegen zu dieser Conference ist für Firmen noch
kein Aushängezeichen ... da wurden einige verschickt ... je nach Sparte.

Was die von der Conference nach einigen Monaten and Kontakten und Aufträgen aufweisen können, das zählt.

Ach ja: diese DNA package auf der Internetseite finde ich äußerst ... strange ... was solls.

VORSICHT mit der Nachkauferei!!! Genau auf die Umsätze achten!
Bald werden die Ersten Kasse machen. Rückkehr auf Ausgangskurs jederzeit möglich!
Einen Hype ausreiten kann ja auch schön sein!
Bezüglich des Relistings an der OTC dürfen wir nicht vor Ende Dezember damit rechnen!
Resümee: Immer äußerst vorsichtig agieren mit den Dingern!
persönlich will ich erst mal warten bis 1$, dann werde ich sicher mal einen Teil verkaufen. (auch wenn ich mich in einem Jahr in den Arsch beissen werde).

Natürlich wird es immer wieder Investoren geben, die mit 100% gain aussteigen, einen Rückgang der Kurse mags auch geben, vielleicht heute schon zurück auf 0.16 oder so...

Einen Rückgang auf unter 0.10 cents halte ich allerdings für äußerst unwahrscheinlich.

Wer sollte bei Kursen darunter verkaufen.

Wer sollte sich überhaupt gegenwärtig von seinen shares trennen wollen, die Story beginnt erst.

Gestern haben bei wieder sattem Volumen viele 0.18 und 0.19 für DNAP ausgelegt, sicher nicht um bei 0.22 wieder zu verkaufen.

Ok wenn wir in zwei Wochen bei 1$ sind, wirds heiß, dann kann es schon sein, daß ein großer selloff DNAP wieder weit unter den $RAnge spült.

Aber die Big Events stehen vor der Tür.

IMHO die meisten gehen long zumindest bis zur Conference oder danach, nicht wirklich auszurechnen wäre, wenn zB nach der BPE Sache ein Venture Capital Fond groß einsteigt, oder die DAtenbanken eines Big Players aus dem Pharmabereich für DNAprint Genomics zugänglich gemacht werden....

Vorsichtig muß man natürlich immer sein, aber ich persönlich kenne im Moment keine bessere Story.

Uff ... ich hab schon ganz feuchte Finger! Du hast recht. 0,20 war wohl ne Lachnummer. Ich hab bei 0,22 meine Order gestrichen und bin nochmal mit 0,24 rein. Schwupps, da stand sie auch schon bei 0,24. Also, ich glaub, das hat wieder nicht geklappt! Das GEHT aber auch ab, das Ding!

Weiß jemand von Euch, wie lange es ungefähr dauert, bis eine über Consors aufgegebene Order ausgeführt sein müßte?

So beobachte deine Thrads jetzt schon lange genug nu muss ich auch mal was schreiben !

Erstmal scheinst einen guten Fang gemacht zu haben *Glückwunsch*

Ich bin bis jetzt noch nicht eingestiegen da ich von Pinks die Finger lasse !
Da kann man sich einen Tag noch über 100 % Plus freuen und am nächsten sind es - 50 % aber das weisst Du sicher selber.

Ich bin mir aber nicht sicher ob es allen hier an Board klar ist was Pinks (wirklich) sind !

Es ist zwar jeder selber gross doch in meiner mittlerweile 1,5 jährigen OTC Zeit hab ich schon + 5000 % aber auch - 99,99 % gehabt und bin jeden Tag wieder aufs neue überascht was alles möglich ist.

Wenn Du willst kannst Du Dir mal MXAL anschauen mich würde deine Einschätzung zu diesem Wert interesieren (ich werde da nicht richtig schlau draus)

Habe MXAL mal kurz überflogen! Der letzte Finanzbericht wurde glaubeich 1998 abgeliefert.
Die Story ist nicht so berauschend! Heuer wurde bekanngegeben (Juli) das eine Entzinkungsversuchsanlage gebaut wird!
Ich arbeite in einem Stahlwerk, weiß aber nicht wozu sowas gut sein könnte!
Aber die Company wirds schon wissen! Vieleich bedeutet dezinc auch etwas anderes was ich glaube!

Vieleicht ist es aber auch der Renner? Eine Technologie auf die die ganze Welt wartet! Bist du investiert??

A Visit to DNAP

First of all, let me start by stating my opinion, so as to give any readers knowledge of my position. I recently stated here that I would not consider
selling DNAP until such time as the stock hit $2.00/share. I now officially retract that statement. I will not sell this stock for less that $10/share and only
a small percentage so as to lock in some profits. I met with Dr. Frudakis, and had an hour-long conversation vis-à-vis DNAP`s future plans and
direction. Dr. Frudakis is an extremely pleasant and forthright individual, and the longer one speaks with him, the more comfortable one becomes with
any investment one has in DNAP.

The topics we covered follow:

1. Pink Sheets

DNAP is currently having an audit conducted in order to prepare their SEC filing. Dr. Frudakis stated that he expects to be off the pinks and listed
within the next 6 weeks. This has been the plan from the beginning, as was the driving factor for the recent reverse merger with CLYC.

2. Possible buy out by a larger firm

Dr. Frudakis made it quite clear that short of being offered the keys to the kingdom of heaven, he has absolutely NO plans to allow a larger fish to
acquire DNAP`s technology via a buy out. Instead, DNAP is seeking strategic alliances with major biotech and drug manufacturing firms. While I was
there, DNAP finalized a deal with a MAJOR genetics firm listed on the NASDAQ. This deal will provide DNAP with a $700,000 Genetic Snip
Stream machine…. GRATIS J (name withheld due to my agreement with Dr. Frudakis )

3. Future Plans

As stated above, DNAP is in the process of striking major strategic alliances. One such alliance will be made public within the next 2-3 weeks. This is
the first of many such alliances, and all of their negotiations are with VERY large cap firms either in the biotech field, or the drug-manufacturing field.

I brought a digital camera with me intending to take some pictures of their offices, but I chose not to do so as they are in the processes of moving into a
MUCH larger and more modern facility. This facility is more able to handle all the new hardware they are getting. I did view their data center, and I
saw the new SUN Mircosystems machine.

4. Patents

DNAP Currently holds one patent for their TrueSeekâ technology. They have a second and FAR more valuable patent applied for, however they are
going slow here, as once they make full application for this patent, they must also make full disclosure of the methodology, thereby giving other a
starting point from which to seek their own methods. Dr. Frudakis intends to hold this back until they have it finalized, so that even if some firm should
use DNAP research to arrive at their own methodology, they will be WAAAY behind DNAP in getting it to market.

5. Current Value

Dr. Frudakis stated that the accountants currently working on the SEC filing have placed the current value of DNAP at around $200 million. This
number is expected to rapidly grow to $1 billion as they begin to release results based on their pending patent. The process involves testing a person
and a drug efficacy and contra-indications. In layman`s terms, this means how well will this drug work for this patient, and what negative side effect can
this patient expect, due to that person`s genetic make-up.

Dr. Frudakis stated to me that his former employer (who has been granted some patents due to Dr. Frudakis`s work) is now a $1 billion firm. Dr.
Frudakis stated that he expects DNAP to be **10** the size within 3 years.

In conclusion, let me say that I have never felt this level of confidence with a firm, it`s personnel, and it`s direction. Their business plan is nearly flawless,
and their management on the ball. Has anyone ever wished they could buy IBM when they were but a fledgling firm?

Sagt mal, ist das denn noch gesund, wie das hier abgeht? 0,38$!!!!Normalerweise würde ich sagen, nein, da wird irgendwie gefummelt. Aber hier? Nicht nur der Kurs, auch das Handelsvolumen steigt kontinuierlich an. Auch die request-quotes bei www.pinksheets.com haben enorm zugenommen - DNAP ist die mit Abstand am häufigsten nachgefragte Notierung auf dieser site geworden! Hmm ... was meint ihr? Alles nur ein hype oder sind wir irgendwann die "Glücklichen der ersten Stunden"?

Und noch was: DNAPrint ist ja eine von insg. 5 jungen Firmen, die sich im Oktober in London bei der BPE präsentieren dürfen. Interessant wäre es doch herauszufinden, wer die anderen 4 sind. Auch bei denen könnte im Anschluss an die Konferenz ne Menge passieren. Wer recherchiert das?

Was Deine Frage angeht: Das geht solange gut, wie LONGS halten, Daytrader auch zu ihrem gain kommen und Neueinsteiger kaufen.

Interessant und ein sehr gutes Zeichen ist das täglich steigende Volumen, aktuell 12 M und wir haben noch 4 1/2 Stunden WHOOW!

Ein weiteres gutes Zeichen ist, daß die clearstationcharts alle gleich aussehen, nimm 5 Tage 3 Tage 1 Tag -> jeder neue Level wird locker gehalten.

Ich halte meine DNAP shares zumindest! bis zur BPE Konferenz!

Bald werden wir auch Kurse unter 0.50 cents hinter uns lassen IMHO

Frudrakis Ziel heißt NASDAQ, und das so schnell wie möglich! (glaube 18 Monate war mal eine Zeitraumsangabe)
Wörtlich sagte er, glaube ich, das es keinen Reversesplit in den nächsten 18 Monaten geben wird. Wenn dann die Aktie noch nicht die Zulassungsbestimmungen für NAS erfüllt, dann vieleicht schon!
Bedenkt, das Frudrakis durch seine Patente, die er für seinen früheren Arbeitgeber erarbeitet hat, seine ehemalige Firma zu einem Milliardendollarunternehmen gemacht hat!
Wenn ihm das bei seiner eigenen Firma auch gelingt,woran ich nicht zweifle, entspräche das einem Kurswert von über 3$!

Schub, ich versuche Dir beizustehen. Auch ich habe gelobt, diesmal nicht schwach zu werden. Einmal habe ich die 100% schon gesehen und bin NICHT schwach geworden. Jetzt warte ich dann auch gleich die 1000% ab. Spass beiseite - ich habe am Donnerstag bis auf meinen Lieblingsfond und natürlich die DNAPs ALLES verkauft und am Freitag gleich für weitere DNAPs auf den Kopp gehauen. Für .34 bin ich reingekommen.

Also, aushalten, aushalten und nochmal aushalten. Mit 3$ rechne ich, auf 10$ hoffe ich, und von 25$ träume ich!

Machts gut alle, und mögen wir uns hier noch lange Jahre sehen und uns gegenseitig beglückwünschen!"

Also jetzt mal ehrlich Leute, 100 % bei so einer Aktie ist doch nichts. Dafür kauf ich doch nicht so eine Aktie um die mit +100 % zu verkaufen. Selbst 1000 % ist mir hier bei weitem nicht genug. Entweder es knallt irgendwann richtig - aber total - nach oben durch die Decke, daß sich alle nur so die Augen ausgucken und dieselben verwundert reiben (und ich bin dann natürlich voll drin, weil ich frühzeitig genug preiswert zugeschlagen habe) oder ich verzichte, aber ehrlich, auf meinen Einsatz in diesem Wert und versinke mögl. unauffällig mit selbigem im Boden. Dann war das eben nachträglich betrachtet ein Loser, in den ich hätte nicht investieren brauchen. Für diesen Fall hab ich immer noch ein paar andere aussichtsreiche Werte im Depot und in so einen Einzelwert nur einen noch zu verkraftenden Risikokapitalbetrag gesteckt.
Bis dahin aber hoffe ich das 1.eres eintrifft.

- PINKSHEET
- OTC-BB
- schneller Anstieg durch "Hype"
- "Dump"s sind vorprogamiiert, IMO

Da muss man sich dran gewöhnen. Schlecht ist nur, wenn nach einem richtigen Spike die Dinger erstmal
unten bleiben. Siehe Kurs von CCGR. (Kann man natürlich nicht vergleichen, aber erst kommt der Pump,
dann der Dump .... der Hype auf den Ami-boards ist ziemlich groß im Moment).

DNAP braucht natürlich Zeit ... die Frage ist, ob die gierigen Investoren der Firma
die Zeit lassen .... eher nein, deswegen sind viele Spikes zu erwarten .... oder ein großer ...
wenn nicht ... dannn geht es nur bergauf, auch nicht schlecht .... aber jetzt mal ehrlich,
wer glaubt denn an sowas ... .

Die DNAP-Leute machen einen fachlich beeindurckendes Bild und "scheinen" seriös. Vielleicht ist das ja wirklich der Bringer der nächsten Jahre.

Die Betonung liegt auf Jahre. Soviel Geduld sollte man schon haben, bei dem was die vorhaben. Ansonsten, ein
paar Gewinne sollte man schon zu bestimmten Kurszielen mitnehmen und den Rest long lassen,
damit man nicht böse überrascht wird.

Also, locker bleiben, und sich nicht von den Pinksheets und dem Amihype ver....schen lassen.

Und nicht dem Kurs nachjagen >>> Penniestock

Nur meine Meinung, aber ich hab ja auch leicht reden: mit 0.08 und eine Hälfte ist schon verkauft

Der Börsengang sollte bei DNAP möglichst rasch erfolgen! Dadurch wurde die Möglichkeit mit einer Shell zu fusionieren gewählt. Ansonsten hätte sich der Börsengang bis zu 1 1/2 Jahre hingezogen! Pinksheets-shells sind wahrscheinlich billiger als regulär gelistete Shells! (Sie sparen zu unserem Wohle )
Ich habe zwar keine Ahnung wieviel so eine Fusion kostet, aber sie haben ja einen super Mathematiker in ihren Reihen, der wird das schon richtig durchgerrechnet haben!

Mein nächstes Kursziel: 0,17 Dollar. Dann entscheidet sich, ob DNAP durchfällt oder zu einem weiteren Höhenflug ansetzt.
Ich bin grundätzlich sehr positiv für DNAP, erwarte aber, daß wir wirklich kräftig zurückkommen werden. Sobald wir die 17 Cent nach unten durchbrechen sollten, sehe ich Kurse unter 10 Cent sehr schnell erreichbar bei enormen Umsätzen. (=Alle Frustrierten steigen aus) Ich werde dann einsteigen, da ich den ersten Einstieg bei 7 Cent verpaßt habe. Vielleicht funktionierts. Kurs stramm Richtung Süden. Umsätze ziehen an. Gibt es jetzt den Ausverkauf? Sicher nicht, aber es rappelt ganz schön.
Wer verkauft? Gute Frage. Ich denke, diejenigen, die im Vorfeld der Restrukturierung sich eingedeckt haben. Zunehmend wohl auch diejenigen, die in Kaufpanik bis 0,47 Dollar zugelangt haben.
Wohlgemerkt, trotz meiner positiven Meinung zu DNAP sehe ich weiter stark fallende Kurse durch den Abbau der hype. Wenn das vorbei ist, dann erwarte ich eine sehr schöne Zukunft für DNAP.
Diese Schwankungen sind doch typisch für Pinks. Meldungen kommen, Market Maker spielen und dann bricht es zusammen, weil viele Gewinne mitnehmen bzw. ihre Verluste radikal begrenzen. Was wollt ihr? Das ist doch immer das Gleiche.
Ich jedenfalls freue mich, daß DNAP wieder günstige Einstiegskurse bieten wird, vielleicht unter 10 Cent.

Wer Firmenmäntel kauft, erwirbt dabei selten 100 Prozent der ausgegebenen Aktien, sondern üblicherweise nur ca. 90 Prozent. Die restlichen 10 bleiben bei den drüheren Eigentümern resp. den Market Makern resp. den Verkäufern dieses Mantels. Müßte man im Falle der DNAP mal recherchieren.
Diese Verkäufer wollen oftmals schnell ihre Restbestände versilbern ohne Ansehen der neuen Substanz. Wem kann man solche Handlungsweisen übelnehmen? Diesen Leuten sicher nicht. Sie machen ihr Geld und das ist es worauf es ihnen meistens ankommt. Kurzsihtig ja, aber was solls.

Doch sobald diese Gewinnrealisationen abgewickelt sind, ist die neue Company sauber von Altlasten und damit frei dahin zu gehen, wohin die neue Substanz und das neue Management es erlauben. Und bei DNAP heißt das für mich nach oben.

Aber Vorsicht. Noch sehe ich die Verkäufe als nicht abgeschlossen an. Nach wie vor meine Kurserwartung von unter 10 Cent. Vielleicht bin ich ja auch zu pessimistisch, aber ich habe schon mehr reverse takeover mitgemacht und habe da so meine Erkenntnisse gesammelt.

NEWS ANALYSIS BALTIMORE, Sept. 1 (LocalBusiness.com) -- Every day, doctors all over the country try to match drug prescriptions to patients with a mix of scientific reasoning and guesswork that rarely works more than 65 percent of the time.

For patients, it can mean long, painful and expensive delays in finding the right treatment. Some even die from a toxic reaction to the wrong drug. For the insurance industry, the haphazard formularies cost hundreds of millions of misspent dollars.

Until now, those so-so odds and steep costs have been widely accepted as an unavoidable part of the imperfect -- but steadily improving -- world of prescription medicines. But a group of fledgling U.S. companies say they`ve found the key to unlocking the door to identifying which drugs are designed to deliver the maximum benefit for each individual patient. It`s called pharmacogenomics, and dozens of companies are painting a beguiling picture of the potential profits to be made.


While the Human Genome Project has gone a long way in developing a genetic map of "normal" Homo sapiens, no one in fact is "normal." Each individual`s genetic makeup has variations, and some of them are associated with disease or with differing sensitivities to various drug therapies. Pharmacogenomics, related to the overall genome mapping project, aims to enable physicians to pinpoint correct dosages of a drug therapy for specific patients based on their genetic profiles. It also promises to determine which persons are among a minority segment of the population for which a widely beneficial drug is toxic.

"Currently, drugs are prescribed based on population averages," says Dr. Tony Frudakis, chief scientific officer of DNAPrint Genomics Inc., based in Sarasota, Fla. "If the percent of patients that have these bad reactions is low enough, they are prescribed, and basically, you roll the dice when you take your medicine."

The human cost
This is not a minor problem, according to Dr. Rick Sheridan, vice president of information science for PPGx, a Morrisville, N.C.-based company working in the field. According to the New England Journal of Medicine, drug reactions related to genetic variation cause an estimated 100,000 deaths a year, Sheridan says. The problem is particularly troublesome among the elderly, who frequently take up to seven drugs a day.

DNAPrint Genomics is evaluating DNA to uncover similarities among people with bad reactions to common drugs. Using sophisticated algorithms, the company will compare the genetics of those whose livers don`t tolerate certain anti-cholesterol drugs, for example. When getting funding for his company, Frudakis conducted a virtual genetic tutorial for Craig Hall, director of corporate analysis at Tampa Bay Financial, a venture capital firm with a biotech and high-tech focus. Frudakis even took Hall to a San Diego biotechnology conference.

Hall admitted that funding pharmacogenomic firms is a risk. His company, which specializes in seed capital, put $1 million in DNAPrint and has a commitment for more as milestones are reached. Quantifying the risk is difficult, he said. "Normally, you can look at a company, their revenues, profit margin, its benchmarks," Hall said. "But in a field in its nascent stages, that is really hard."

One of the questions investors ask about a pharmacogenomics company is where the company is in the R&D process. Later stage research is going to be far less speculative than early stage, and therefore would hold less risk.

"Investment depends on what your risk profile looks like," John Bishop, president and CEO of Downers Grove, Ill.-based Vysis Inc. (Nasdaq: VYSI) told LocalBusiness.com. "If you have risks in determining the genetic markers, then in how to test for those markers, then with what therapy to pursue and then in the time for clinical trials, getting investors can be problematic."

Vysis is a genomic disease management company that markets clinical products to evaluate and manage various types of cancer. The company markets a genetic testing kit called PathVysion that detects the HER-2 gene in patients. Vysis is conducting clinical trials of PathVysion in partnership with Genentech Inc. (Nasdaq: DNA) for Genentech`s Herceptin Therapy treatment for breast cancer. In May Genentech released patient outcomes data that showed a relationship between PathVysion`s detection of the HER-2 gene and a successful Herceptin Therapy treatment. Now the two companies are analyzing tissue samples to prove a correlation -- ultimately with the goal of winning FDA approval.

"For biotech in general, historically the investors have been much more patient," Bishop told LocalBusiness.com. "But some investors have been burned and they`re now more demanding that the company show revenues and profits sooner rather than later. They`re less tolerant of futures."

PPGx, where Sheridan works, plans to be one of the first companies to offer a test that a consumer can self-administer to look for variation of the 2D6 gene, which affects the way individuals metabolize about 25 percent of the drugs currently in use, according to Sheridan. The gene produces an enzyme that helps metabolize medicines.

A joint venture formed between San Francisco-based Axys Pharmaceuticals Inc. (Nasdaq: AXPH) and Wilmington, N.C.`s PPD Inc. (Nasdaq: PPDI), PPGx hunts for predictive genetic markers for use in clinical trials of experimental drugs or diagnostic tests. It provides a variety of services to pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients. PPGx plans to launch a pharmacogenomics information Website for consumers and health care professionals in collaboration with Los Angeles-based ADoctorInYourHouse.com this fall. The Website will not only be used to deliver information about pharmacogenomics, but also to request demographic information and ask for DNA samples to conduct genotyping research to detect genetic variations that characterize the donor`s response to drugs.

Tailor-made drugs
Dr. Dennis M. Smith Jr. sees a future where medicine will be tailored to a person`s genetic makeup like a fine suit is cut to their shoulder width. Smith is the medical director and senior vice president of the Riviera Beach, Fla., firm AmeriPath Inc., (Nasdaq: PATH), a pathology and diagnostic service company with 301 doctors and operations in 14 states. "I think that most of us believe that the Human Genome Project is going to completely revolutionize the way medicine is practiced, everything from family practice to pathology," Smith said.

Still, John McCamant, editor of Oakland, Calif.-based Medical Technology Stock Letter, notes that pharmacogenomics as a business model remains untested. That said, the space is quickly heating up with "some heavy competition," he says. Pharmacogenomics has obvious promise, technologically and financially, in speeding up the process of drug development and reducing the risk associated with individuals having bad reactions to certain drugs. "The flip side is the cost," McCamant says, "and you have to prove to investors this area of biotech really adds value."

Greg Brown, vice president of global strategic marketing for Gaithersburg, Md.-based Digene (Nasdaq: DIGE), points out that there`s the other natural hurdle to winning over investors: convincing them that the timeframe on returns isn`t too far out. "One thing Wall Street wants to hear is that this new field is mind boggling in terms of its potential, but no one wants to hear they have to wait 10 years to see a return," he says.

Digene already markets tests that detect the genetic characteristics of viruses and bacteria associated with disease. It has patented what it calls a "hybrid capture gene analysis system" capable of developing tests for individual susceptibility to disease or sensitivity to drugs, says Brown. Such products are in the works at Digene, he says, though he isn`t prepared to say precisely where the company is focusing its efforts.

Brown says for a company to become some kind of a market leader in pharmacogenomics, keys to success will be picking the right diseases to concentrate on and moving fast to build a bullet-proof patent portfolio. "He who succeeds in this field will be the one that focuses on one or just a few diseases and dominates in that area," Brown says.

Genome Map Heralds Cheap Drugs

Top genomics researchers from around the world are gathering in Miami this week to explore ways of using the mountains of information created by the Human Genome Project.
The main thrust of this research is to discover new drugs faster and cheaper. To do that, scientists need to find innovative ways to combine biology with information technology, a field dubbed bioinformatics.

"If you want to successfully use the new paradigm for drug discovery, you really have to take biology into account," said Cyrus Harmon, CEO of Neomorphic, a genomics company in Berkeley, California.
"The molecular biology revolution changed the game and now we suddenly have the ability to go into much greater detail and (to) speed the understanding of the nature of biology and utilize the information to treat diseases that were intractable before," Harmon said.
Researchers predict that the time and cost it takes to develop drugs will be significantly reduced by biology-based approaches. It now takes about 12 years and $500 million to bring a drug to market.
"We think we can reduce this by about six years," said William Haseltine, CEO of Human Genome Sciences (HGSI), a genomics company in Rockville, Maryland. "By both increasing the success rates and shortening the trial period, we think we can dramatically improve cost efficiency in drug discovery."
Discussion on those themes figure to be lively this week.
One company participating in the Gene Sequencing and Analysis Conference, Lion Bioscience (LEON), said on Tuesday it would add a strategic drug-discovery tool to its bioinformatics platform.
Lion will incorporate the tool, called Stackpack, into its data integration platform to more quickly identify genes responsible for disease.
"I think the real challenge in these days is not to come up with stand-alone eclectic solutions, because there is such diversity and such a tremendous amount of data -- think of the Human Genome Project and the overwhelming amount of data," said Dr. Friedrich Von Bohlen, chairman and CEO of Lion.
Lion launched the most successful biotech IPO ever earlier this year in Germany, and also launched one in the United States that held its own, garnering $182 million in funding.

The working draft of the human genome map completed in June promises to provide scientists with the biological foundation of human life. Researchers say the complete map may herald a revolution in medicine, giving physicians the material they need to predict, prevent, and even treat disease.
But in its present state, it tells researchers little about disease, which is where bioinformatics comes in. Using information technology to mine tons of biological information, scientists hope to discover the secrets of the human body.
The Stackpack technology is an Expressed Sequence Tag analysis technology invented by Electric Genetics of Cape Town, South Africa. The Stackpack tool can look at small bits of genes, instead of sequencing an entire gene.
ESTs contain enough information about a gene to allow investigators to search databases for similar genes -- the standard method used by researchers to get a better idea of what type of gene they`ve found.
By studying these bits of genetic sequence, researchers can eventually learn which tissues in the body the gene controls.
Lion researchers say they`ve taken bioinformatics to a new level, which they call i-biology. According to Von Bohlen, i-biology is the key to allowing companies to access and search the plethora of types of data used by biotech researchers.
"The challenge for industry is to come up with support for not only biology but also chemistry and medicine. That is the i-biology concept," Von Bohlen said.
The concept is based on a platform that Lion calls the Sequence Retrieval System, which has been adopted by over 400 private and academic institutions.
Approaches like Lion`s could help the large pharmaceutical companies, which are based mainly on chemistry, to adapt to the biology age
