MacroPore™ Protective Sheet
MacroPore™ is a malleable, macroporous implant designed to secure bone fragments and facilitate healing. Made from a resorbable copolymer of 70:30 poly (L,DL) lactate, MacroPore™ is indicated for trauma and reconstructive procedures of the midface, mandible and craniofacial skeleton, including craniotomies, comminuted fractures of the frontal sinus wall, and comminuted fractures of naso-ethmoidal/infraorbital areas.

Clinical Benefits
MacroPore™ protective sheets bring extraordinary flexibility and ease-of-use to the clinical setting. Supplied in a variety of appropriate sizes, surgeons can cut and shape MacroPore™ to create individual shapes during surgery. Heating the material to 55oC in the PowerBath™, it becomes completely pliable and will conform to any craniofacial bone structure. At body temperature MacroPore™ retains total rigidity.

MacroPore™ protective sheets provide optimal containment characteristics for bone grafts and bone graft substitutes. The protective sheet prevents graft dislocation while promoting the ingrowth of blood vessels and cells. Because of its inherent malleability and containment capabilities, MacroPore™ protective sheets also expand the ease of use for bone graft substitutes.

Patient Benefits
Unlike titanium implants, MacroPore™ implants completely resorb in one to three years, obviating the need for removal procedures to avoid long term palpability and ambient temperature sensitivity. The biocompatible material is non-toxic, non-irritating and 100% amorphous, metabolizing to CO2 and H2O avoiding growth restriction in pediatric patients.
