Auto industry marketplace Covisint has formed an agreement that will give founders Ford and General Motors a hefty stake in technology partner Commerce One worth approximately $1.26 billion, according to reports.
The agreement, which is expected to be announced later Tuesday, makes Commerce One a key technology partner in the auto marketplace and gives Ford and GM a combined 14 percent stake in the Pleasanton, Calif.-based software maker, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday.
GM and Ford will each receive 14.4 million Commerce One shares, according to the report.
As part of the deal, Commerce One, which was brought to Covisint through its earlier partnership with GM, is expected to provide many of the technologies to run the marketplace in return for undisclosed cash for consulting services and a share of the marketplace`s recurring revenue, the Journal reported.
Meanwhile, Oracle, another major technology partner in the venture brought in through its alliance with Ford, will still provide other technology to run the marketplace such as database management and online security software.
Covisint, which also includes DaimlerChrylser, Nissan and Renault, marks one of the largest exchanges announced to date. The marketplace is aiming to link the world`s top automakers and their 30,000 suppliers over the Web and is expected to boast annual transactions valued at more than $300 billion.
The venture, which recently won approval by the Federal Trade Commission, still faces some technical challenges and is currently hunting for a chief executive officer.
Covisint on Monday became a corporate entity, allowing it to begin charging for participation in online auctions.

also noch einige fragen.

Ich finde das nicht zu teuer:
Der Wert der Aktien beträgt derzeit etwa 1,2 Mrd. US$.

P.S. Irgendwas is ja immer!
