AVANEX hat kürzlich Zahlen für das 4.Quartal gebracht, die die Schätzungen der Analysten um 0,1$ je Aktie geschlagen haben.
Die Aktie kam dennoch unter Druck, da Avanex nicht wie in früheren Quartalen die Schätzungen anhob, sondern sich vorsichtig zeigte aufgrund der derzeit schwierigen Lage der US-Wirtschaft.
Dennoch konnten einige positive Aspekte ausgemacht werden:
1.Avanex hat jetzt, verglichen mit 12 im vorangegangenen Quartal, 15 Kunden für seine Produkte.
2. Nortel ist der 3. Kunde von Avanex geworden, der für mehr als 10% der vierteljährlichen Erträge steht, und schließt sich Fujitsu und MCI Worldcom an.
3. Der PowerShaper von Avanex befindet sich jetzt in Feldversuchen, während eine Version seines PowerExpress Produkts, das auf großstädtische Netzwerke gerichtet ist, die Betatests durchläuft. Das Unternehmen erwartet, dass beide Produkte in dem am 30. Juni 2001 endenden Quartal damit beginnen werden, Erträge zu erzeugen.
4. Vom PowerMux NxG, einer Version des PowerMux der nächsten Generation, von der erwartet wird, dass sie bedeutende Kosten- und Leistungsvorteile im Vergleich zu ihrer Vorgängerin bringen wird, wird erwartet, dass er damit anfängt, die Betatests in diesem bevorstehenden Quartal durchlaufen wird, und dass er im am 30. September 2001 endenden Quartal beginnen wird, Erträge zu erzeugen.
Die Produkte von Avanex gelten in der Branche als bahnbrechend und sollten dem Unternehmen im Bereich optische Komponenten weiterhin extrem hohes Wachstum bescheren. JDS Uniphase ist der etablierte Gigant der Industrie, während Avanex ein relativ junger Emporkömmling mit einer kleineren Ertragsbasis ist, und eine größere Abhängigkeit von einer Handvoll Kunden hat. Aus diesem Grund und zu diesem Zeitpunkt muss ein Investment bei Avanex als riskanter als ein Investment bei JDS Uniphase angesehen werden. Jedoch bringt dieses Risiko, in Anbetracht der weitaus geringeren Marktkapitalisierung des Unternehmens und der großen technologischen Vorteile, die es in Schlüsselsegmenten des Marktes für optische Komponenten besitzt, auch das Potential für größere Renditen mit sich(und wer will das nicht?). Momentan befindet sich die Aktie im Bereich von 50$ und kann daher risikofreudigen Anlegern empfohlen werden. Kurse um 100-150$ sind bis Mitte des Jahres auf jeden Fall wieder möglich.

Deshalb empfiehlt es sich generell, spekulative Aktien wie AVNX, JDSU, BRCM aufgrund extremer Volatilität relativ niedrig im Depot zu gewichten und dagegen Rambus bzw. Ballard mit 30-50% vom Depotwert auszustatten. Das solltest Du bei Deinen nächsten Investments in 10 Jahren vielleicht auch beachten.
Deshalb empfiehlt es sich generell, spekulative Aktien wie AVNX, JDSU, BRCM aufgrund extremer Volatilität relativ niedrig im Depot zu gewichten und dagegen Rambus bzw. Ballard mit 30-50% vom Depotwert auszustatten. Das solltest Du bei Deinen nächsten Investments in 10 Jahren vielleicht auch beachten.

wie Du siehst, ist es in praktisch allen Fällen nicht so gut, die Werte in der Nähe ihres ATH`s zu kaufen, wenn der Aufwärtstrend noch intakt ist.
Ich kann nur hoffen, daß Du so klug warst, zumindest nicht im Abwärtstrend zu verbilligen...
... denn es wird noch viel billiger ...

The PowerExpress Metro Amplifier has already successfully completed a field trial with a major communications carrier and successful laboratory interoperability testing with the carrier and with three major OC-192 equipment vendors.

Avanex will demonstrate the PowerExpress Metro Amplifier in a metro ring configuration during the 2001 Optical Fiber Communication (OFC) Conference and Exhibit March 19-21 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, Calif. Avanex will be in Booth #3126.
The PowerExpress Metro Amplifier supports 16x16 bi-directional transmission at OC-192, the highest bit rate in the metro market, and it allows a user to add and drop wavelengths in service without reconfiguring units.
With a single unit rack height of 1.73 inches, it features a small footprint. Power consumption typically is a low 20W, and the unit does not require an enforced cooling system. System setup is fast and operation easy, with all conventional alarms and monitors included.
An innovative build-in dispersion compensator makes it possible to interoperate with different 10Gb/s transmitter technologies. Operating at 10Gb/s, the PowerExpress Metro extends transmission distance to a maximum of 90 kilometers.
The successful field trial was conducted in a major carrier`s metropolitan network with the PowerExpress Metro Amplifier carrying 2x2 bi-directional wavelength traffic live on a unidirectional path switch ring consisting of conventional non-dispersion-shifted fiber.
Interoperability testing with the international communications carrier encompassed 16x16 bi-directional transmission at OC-192 -- for a total of 320 Gb/s over both conventional single-mode fiber and new non-zero-dispersion- shifted fiber.
