Acclaim Entertainment`s Crazy Taxi for PlayStation2 Computer Entertainment System is a Smash At Retail
GLEN COVE, N.Y.--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--May 29, 2001--
#1 PlayStation2 Computer Entertainment System Game at GameStop andElectronics Boutique
In what appears to be the video game launch of the Spring, Acclaim Entertainment, Inc. (NASDAQ:AKLM) today announced that its highly anticipated new PlayStation(R)2 computer entertainment system game, Crazy Taxi(TM), is a smash hit at retail, including GameStop and Electronics Boutique.
Based upon retailer feedback, consumers` fervor for the title is extremely high, quickly making it one of the top selling PlayStation(R)2 computer entertainment system game in the United States.
"We are thrilled by the tremendous response from consumers towards Crazy Taxi, which is testimony to its incredible game play and immersive entertainment experience," said Evan Stein, vice president of Brand/Marketing. "Crazy Taxi underscores our commitment in providing highly engaging content for the next-generation gaming systems and exemplifies our ability to harness its power to deliver compelling sales at retail."
"Crazy Taxi has quickly emerged as the `must have` title of the Spring, as it was our #1 selling title for the PlayStation(R)2 computer entertainment system, as well as our #4 overall selling product for the week," said Doreen McKenzie, Divisional Merchandising Manager of Console Sales for GameStop. "Consumers` awareness for the product is only surpassed by their enthusiasm and it appears that Acclaim has delivered a real winner to retail."
According to Pete Roithmayr, Vice President at Electronics Boutique, "Crazy Taxi has been our #1 PlayStation(R)2 computer entertainment system title since its release."
Crazy Taxi is a mad race against the clock -- and traffic. As any of four fearless cabbies, players are driven by a single goal: to rack up the mega-bucks in fares and tips before their shift ends. Drivers pick up passengers and take them to their destination by any way possible. It`s a comic cab opera of collisions and decisions where courtesy takes a back seat to coin.
Crazy Taxi offers all of the enthralling features that made it a must-play game, including:
- Four different cabs and drivers, each with their own style and attitude;
- Two expansive and interactive courses for extensive game play;
- Nine mini-games to challenge various driving skills;
- True driving dynamics;
- Wild, mission-based game play infused with humor;
- Rockin` soundtrack by hit bands Offspring and Bad Religion.
Optimized by Acclaim Studios Cheltenham, Crazy Taxi for the PlayStation(R)2 computer entertainment system retails for $49.99. For more information about Crazy Taxi, as well as Acclaim`s complete lineup of products, visit www.acclaim.com on the Web.

Kein Wunder, wenn man einen Big Player wie Sony in der Hand hat, weil die keine Spielesoftware zusammenbringen.
