Gruß A.TH.

Good Luck Schwammerl

The rocket has not been launched yet !

In Deutschland leben ca. 14-16 Millionen schwerhörige. Was meint ihr?
Also: Augen auf beim Symphonix-Kauf!

: Lass mal hören was Dir da so Durch den Kopf geht.

Danke!

SAN JOSE, Calif., Jul 2, 2001 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Symphonix Devices,
Inc. (Nasdaq: SMPX) announced today that investors from the November 10, 2000

Time is cash!

SYMPHONIX-SPONSORED CLINICAL STUDY REPORTS LONG-TERM BENEFITS OF THE VIBRANT SOUNDBRIDGE FOR THE HEARING IMPAIRED
Landmark Study Presented at the American Academy of Otolaryngology Annual Meeting
American Academy of Otolaryngologists Annual Meeting -- DENVER -- September 10, 2001 -- Results of a study on the long-term effects of the Vibrant(R) Soundbridge(TM) were presented today at the American Academy of Otolaryngology (AAO) Annual Meeting and OTO EXPO confirming that the device is safe and effective for long-term use. The Vibrant Soundbridge, developed by Symphonix Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ: SMPX), is the first implantable middle ear hearing device (IMEHD) to be approved by the FDA and is designed to treat the most common form of hearing impairment, moderate to severe sensorineural hearing loss. The performance of the Vibrant Soundbridge was evaluated in the first 100 patients, each of whom chose the device after having prior experience with traditional hearing aids. All subjects had been implanted with the device for at least one year, with some representing continuous usage for up to three years.
Dr. David Kelsall, an otologist with the Denver Ear Associates, presented the findings of the study, revealing that patients implanted with the Vibrant Soundbridge for twelve months or more continued to report improved hearing performance with minimal background noise interference, better overall fit and comfort and excellent overall sound quality.
"This study indicates continued high levels of patient satisfaction with the Vibrant Soundbridge," said Dr. Kelsall. "Performance of the device`s `direct drive system`, which utilizes an open ear canal design, continues to mark major improvement over the problems associated with traditional acoustic hearing aids. This represents a significant finding for the many hearing impaired who continue to be dissatisfied with or choose not to use conventional treatment methods. The results to date show that baseline hearing has remained unchanged, and patients are continuing to experience improvements in all aspects of hearing ability a year or more after implantation."
In addition to presenting a paper on the long-term effects of the Vibrant Soundbridge, Dr. Kelsall conducted a satellite workshop on the device on Friday, Sept. 7 for surgeons attending the AAO annual meeting. The Symphonix-sponsored workshop, which took place at Swedish Medical Center in Denver, introduced the attendees to the Vibrant Soundbridge implantation technique, which combines elements of common ear surgeries. The hands-on workshop was held in a wet lab setting to allow surgeons to practice the procedure.
"Positive reviews of the Vibrant Soundbridge technology from both hearing health professionals and patients who have been implanted provided an interest for me in learning more about the device and its related procedure," stated James Andrews, M.D., an otologist with Pacific Head and Neck in Los Angeles, Calif., and Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of California Los Angeles. "Symphonix` workshop gave me helpful experience with the Vibrant Soundbridge, demonstrating that the surgery is straight-forward."
Symphonix` other AAO meeting activity includes unveiling a new selection of colors for the Vibrant Soundbridge Audio Processor, the external component of the device. Providing customers with greater cosmetic options, the new colors were incorporated to allow the patient to more closely match his or her hair. Symphonix will be showing the new Audio Processors at booth #1643, where representatives of the company will also be on hand to discuss the Vibrant Soundbridge, its underlying technology and findings related to its long-term use.
"The AAO is a great backdrop for announcing the Vibrant Soundbridge`s long-term viability as an alternative to the traditional hearing aid," said Davis. "The recent study shows that the device`s direct drive technology continues to perform well with minimal risk or complications, even in patients who were implanted up to three years ago. This news, combined with our workshop outreach, provides a chance for Symphonix to introduce the Vibrant Soundbridge to more professionals in the hearing health industry, ultimately enhancing our referral network and helping us provide a safe, effective, long-term solution to those with moderate to severe sensorineural hearing loss."

Symphonix Devices, Inc. Initiates Legal Action Against Soundtec, Inc. and Key Soundtec Executives
SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov 29, 2001 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Symphonix(R) Devices,
Inc. (Nasdaq: SMPX) has filed a complaint against Soundtec(R), Inc. and three
senior Soundtec executives alleging actions that include misappropriation of
trade secrets, breach of contract and inducing breach of contract.
Central to the complaint is Symphonix` contention that Soundtec and its three
executives utilized Symphonix` confidential, proprietary and trade secret
information to develop and market the Direct System(TM), Soundtec`s implantable
middle ear hearing device.
The three Soundtec executives named in the complaint are: Jack V. D. Hough,
co-founder, director and chairman; Kenneth J. Dormer, co-founder, director and
vice president; and Pamela Matthews, director of clinical studies. Prior to
their tenure at Soundtec, Hough, Dormer and Matthews were employed by the
Central Ear Research Institute (CERI), which, in December 1994, entered into an
agreement to undertake a research and development project with Symphonix on the
development of an implantable hearing device. The agreement permanently
transferred exclusive rights to Symphonix for all technology developed during
the research period. It further required that CERI disclose and permanently
transfer rights to Symphonix for all improvements invented, developed or
otherwise acquired by CERI for five years after termination of the agreement.
Hough and Dormer executed this agreement on CERI`s behalf. Soundtec was founded
in March 1997, five months after CERI terminated its agreement with Symphonix.
"As the pioneer of the implantable middle ear hearing device field, Symphonix
has always prided itself on the uniqueness and originality of its product
design," said Kirk Davis, chief executive officer of Symphonix. "We believe that
the actions of Soundtec and its executive team members represent a clear
violation of the law, and we will take every step necessary to protect our
intellectual property on behalf of our shareholders."
Among other requests, Symphonix is seeking to restrain Soundtec from selling its
Direct System device for a period of two years and to collect related damages.

"autoexec.bat"

COURCHEVEL, France -- January 24, 2001 -- The Politzer Society, a global consortium of leading otologic surgeons, has awarded top honors to Symphonix(R) Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ: SMPX) at its 23rd Annual Meeting, selecting the company`s clinical paper for a first prize award and offering a dedicated symposium on the company`s Vibrant Soundbridge implantable middle ear hearing device (IMEHD).
"Symphonix is honored to be called out with such distinction by the Politzer Society, the veritable `who`s who` of the international otologic surgery community," said Kirk Davis, president and chief executive officer, Symphonix Devices, Inc. "We`re pleased to have created excitement among this prestigious group. Hallo,

Symphonix and Siemens Receive Largest Vibrant Soundbridge Order to Date; French Hearing Clinic Expects to Implant One to Two Patients Per Week
07:31 EST Thursday, March 07, 2002
SAN JOSE, Calif., March 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Symphonix(R) Devices, Inc. (Nasdaq: SMPX) has announced that Siemens, a world leader in hearing instruments and the company`s European distribution partner, has received an order for 50 Vibrant(R) Soundbridge(TM) systems from Clinic Causse, a private hearing clinic in Beziers, France. This represents the largest single order to date for the breakthrough implantable middle ear hearing device technology.
Since it began offering the Vibrant Soundbridge in March 2000, Clinic Causse has experienced steadily increasing demand for the device from hearing aid users actively looking for alternatives to acoustic hearing aids. The recent purchase was placed in order to accommodate a caseload that has grown to one-to-two implantation surgeries each week.
"Escalating demand for the Vibrant Soundbridge in France is reflective of growing interest in the device across Europe as well as in the United States," said Kirk Davis, president and chief executive officer of Symphonix. "Clearly, people suffering from moderate to severe sensorineural hearing loss are increasingly viewing the Vibrant Soundbridge as the preferred treatment option."
Dr. T. Dumon, the responsible surgeon at Clinic Causse added, "Patients understand that the dramatic improvements in sound quality and clarity experienced with the Vibrant Soundbridge translate to better quality of life for themselves as well as their friends and loved ones."
Once all 50 units have been implanted, Clinic Causse will have treated more patients with the Vibrant Soundbridge than any other Center of Excellence worldwide.

Hallo SMPX-Freunde oder auch leidtragende,
SYMPHONIX DEVICES ALLOWS PATIENTS TO TEST VIBRANT SOUNDBRIDGE TECHNOLOGY BEFORE SURGERY
Unique Demonstration Device Offers Simulation of More Desirable Alternative to Hearing Aids
SAN JOSE, Calif. - March 21, 2002 -Symphonix Devices (R), Inc. (NASDAQ:SMPX) announced today the debut of its Direct Drive Demonstrator, a simulation system that allows patients with moderate to severe sensorineural hearing loss to experience the potential benefit of the company`s Vibrant(R) Soundbridge(TM) implantable middle ear hearing device before surgery. Presented publicly for the first time last week at the American Auditory Society`s Scientific and Technology meeting in Phoenix, the Direct Drive Demonstrator is already being used by a limited number of otologists and has been evaluated by current Vibrant Soundbridge patients who said it accurately reflected how they now hear with the implant.
The Direct Drive Demonstrator is a battery-powered system that consists of an MP-3 player and Symphonix` proprietary technology, the Floating Mass Transducer(TM) (FMT), which is a tiny transducer that directly vibrates the middle ear by mimicking the natural motion of the ossicular chain, sending an enhanced signal to the cochlea.
Prospective patients who are actively seeking a better alternative to their traditional acoustic hearing aids can go through a simulation with their otologist before determining if the Vibrant Soundbridge is right for them. The process is simple and can be done in just minutes. Pre-recorded speech and music are played to allow the patient to hear the quality and clarity that can be achieved with the Vibrant Soundbridge technology.
"The Direct Drive Demonstrator offers patients the opportunity to experience the fidelity of direct drive hearing before having surgery," said Geoffrey Ball, vice president and chief technical officer of Symphonix Devices. "This is an ideal tool which allows patients an opportunity to `test-drive` the Vibrant Soundbridge technology before buying it. We believe this will eliminate a key hurdle in the decision process."
Starting next month, the Direct Drive Demonstrator will become available at Symphonix Centers of Excellence worldwide.

Revenue for the quarter was $0.5 million compared to $0.5 million in the fourth quarter of 2001 and $0.6 million in the first quarter of 2001.

Hallo,

Former MiniMed Executive, Bill Arthur, Appointed Chairman of the Board of Symphonix(R) Devices, Inc. Appointment Comes as Symphonix Embarks on Market Growth Initiatives
SAN JOSE, Calif., May 14, 2002 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Symphonix
Devices, Inc. (Nasdaq: SMPX) -- developers of the Vibrant(R) Soundbridge(TM),
the world`s first, FDA approved, middle ear implant for those with moderate to
severe sensoneural hearing loss -- announced today that former MiniMed
executive, William D. Arthur III, has been elected Chairman of the Board.
Recognized as an industry leader in sales and marketing of medical devices, Mr.
Arthur previously served as Vice President of Sales for MiniMed Inc., where he
is credited with the dramatic increase in sales revenue from $6 million in 1993
to more than $294 million in 2001. MiniMed, a leading manufacturer of insulin
infusion pumps and continuous glucose monitoring systems, was acquired by
Medtronic, Inc. in 2001.
"We`re excited to tap Bill`s 28 years of sales and marketing experience," said
Kirk Davis, President and CEO of Symphonix. "Because he completely understands
the challenges faced by medical-device companies like ours, he will play a
critical role in the sale and marketing of the Vibrant Soundbridge nationwide."
Currently there are more than 28 million Americans who suffer from hearing loss.
Prior to his tenure at MiniMed, Mr. Arthur was the founder, president and CEO of
Medfusion, Inc., where he led efforts to commercialize products for low volume,
accurate drug delivery in both hospitals and ambulatory outpatients. He holds a
B.S. degree in Microbiology from Pennsylvania State University.
According to Mr. Arthur, the opportunity to lead Symphonix is the opportunity of
a lifetime. "With the great team at Symphonix, I know we can grow the company
into a world-class medical device developer and manufacturer, while helping
millions of people to hear clearly again through the Vibrant Soundbridge," he
said.
He added that the company`s "Direct Drive Simulator," a new tool that allows
patients to evaluate the Vibrant Soundbridge, will help to personalize the
company`s products for those with hearing loss.
"Patients coping with traditional hearing aids don`t realize there`s anything
else available," he said. "Now, with our Direct Drive Simulator, doctors can
actually demonstrate to a patient what it would be like to hear."
Currently, Symphonix`s Vibrant Soundbridge product is available through the
company`s "Centers of Excellence," many of which are affiliated with major
medical research centers, such as the House Clinic, the University of Miami, and
the Otologic Center of Kansas City.
Mr. Arthur leads the Symphonix board of directors comprised of medical device
industry experts, including Kirk Davis, President and CEO of Symphonix; Geoff
Ball, Vice President and CTO and co-founder of Symphonix; BJ Cassin, a private
venture capital investor; Roger Radke, PhD, Managing Director, Siemens
Audiologische Technik GmBH; Adele Oliva, Partner, Apax Partners, Inc.; and
Martin Friedman, Vice President, JP Morgan Partners.

Long Term Study Confirms Symphonix(R) Middle Ear Implant Safe and Effective Vibrant(R) Soundbridge(TM) Long-term Patient Study Findings Presented At Spring Otolaryngology Meeting in Florida
SAN JOSE, Calif., May 20, 2002 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Symphonix
Devices, Inc. (Nasdaq: SMPX) -- developers of the world`s first, FDA approved,
middle ear implant for those with moderate to severe sensoneural hearing loss --
announced today the findings of a recently concluded study showing that the
Vibrant Soundbridge is safe and effective long after initial activation. Thomas
J. Balkany, M.D., chairman of the University of Miami Department of
Otolaryngology, and co-author of the study, presented the findings at the
Combined Otolaryngological Spring Meeting (COSM) held May 10-14 in Boca Raton,
Florida.
"The data presented in the study suggests that not only is the Vibrant
Soundbridge safe -- showing minimal impact on a patient`s natural hearing --
it`s also effective in improving a person`s hearing to the degree they are
highly satisfied with the device," Dr. Balkany said. "With this long-term study,
and nearly 1,000 implants of the Symphonix amplification device, the Vibrant
Soundbridge is becoming a more accepted medical option for the millions of
people around the world who suffer from hearing loss."
Other key findings of the study, co-authored by Charles M. Luetje, M.D., of the
Otologic Center of Kansas City, Missouri, showed that Vibrant Soundbridge
patients achieved more functional gain in hearing -- by more than 10 to 15
decibels -- than they did with the use of conventional acoustic hearing aids.
The study also showed that even after four years, patients implanted with the
Vibrant Soundbridge continue to report very high levels of hearing and device
satisfaction compared to that of conventional hearing aids.
"The findings presented in this important long-term patient study confirms the
impressive results from the Vibrant Soundbridge clinical trial," said Bill
Arthur, the newly appointed Symphonix chairman. "We now have the supportive data
that proves the Vibrant Soundbridge is safe and effective over the long-term.
This is the type of data private insurance companies want to see in order to
provide coverage for a medical device and procedure. And based on my experience,
we should see more positive coverage decisions by private health insurers."
In the study, researchers followed the first 100 U.S. patients implanted with
the Vibrant Soundbridge since 1997. They evaluated the patients at 3, 12, 24, 36
and 48 month intervals post device activation, and looked for any loss in
residual hearing, changes in tympanometry (ear drum compliance), as well as any
changes in any functional gain. Researchers also evaluated the benefit patients
reported over time with the Vibrant Soundbridge implant compared to that of
traditional acoustic hearing aids.
The Vibrant Soundbridge represents a new approach to hearing improvement -- the
implantable middle ear hearing device (IMEHD). Unlike conventional acoustic
hearing aids, which increase the volume of sound that goes to the eardrum, the
Vibrant Soundbridge bypasses the ear canal and eardrum by directly vibrating the
small bones in the middle ear. Because of its design, no portion of the device
is placed in the ear canal itself. The Vibrant Soundbridge has been approved by
the FDA as a safe and effective treatment option for adults with moderate to
severe sensoneural hearing loss who desire an alternative to acoustic hearing
aids. Of the approximate 28 million Americans who suffer from hearing loss, 60
percent have moderate to severe hearing loss.
Individuals with moderate to severe sensoneural hearing loss who are interested
in an alternative to hearing aids, can obtain more information about the Vibrant
Soundbridge middle ear implant by calling Symphonix Devices, Inc. at
1-800-833-7733, or by visiting the Symphonix Web site at www.symphonix.com.

Hallo Viva

Symphonix Devices Inc. Announces Q2 2002 Financial Results
SAN JOSE, Calif., (July 23, 2002) - Symphonix(R) Devices Inc. (NASDAQ: SMPX) - developers of the world`s first, FDA-approved, middle-ear implant for those with moderate to severe sensorineural hearing loss - today reported a net loss of $1.8 million, or $0.05 per share, for the second quarter ended June 30, 2002, compared to $2.1 million, or $0.06 per share, for the first quarter of 2002 and $5.1 million, or $0.24 per share, in the second quarter of 2001. Net loss in the first half of 2002 was $3.9 million, or $0.11 per share, compared to $9.9 million, or $0.47 per share, in the first half of 2001. Revenue for the quarter was $0.5 million compared $0.5 million in the first quarter 2002, and $0.4 million in the second quarter of 2001. Revenue in the first half of 2002 was $1.0 million compared to $1.0 million in the first half of 2001.
"While we continue to focus on marketing initiatives, given the slower than expected adoption rate of the Vibrant Soundbridge, we have attained a lower net loss compared to the first quarter of this year by being judicious about our expenses," said Terence Griffin, chief financial officer for Symphonix Devices.
Kirk Davis, CEO of Symphonix Devices, added that the second quarter was also marked by significant developments on the Vibrant Soundbridge marketing front.
"We achieved success on a number of marketing initiatives, including achieving our first positive national insurance coverage decision," Davis said. "We expect to see the results of our successful marketing efforts lead to increased Vibrant Soundbridge sales late this year, and even more so in 2003".
According to Davis, Aetna (NYSE: AET) has made a national coverage decision to cover the Vibrant Soundbridge, and the procedure to implant the device, on member plans which include hearing aid benefits and when medical necessity is determined. Aetna is one of the nation`s leading providers of health care and related group benefits, serving 15 million health care members, 12.1 million dental members and 11.9 million group insurance customers as of March 31, 2002.
"We continue to see health insurance companies acknowledge the value and benefits of the Vibrant Soundbridge for their members," Davis said. "We now have had more than 19 different insurance carriers provide patient coverage on a case by case basis."
Also completed in the second quarter was a marketing arrangement with Kaiser Hearing Centers of Northern California. Under the terms of this marketing arrangement, later this year Kaiser will begin offering the Vibrant Soundbridge to patients, on a private pay basis, at Kaiser`s 10 Hearing Centers.
Davis also announced that the Veterans Administration (VA) in San Francisco, under the direction of Dr. Steven Cheung, will launch a pilot program in the fall. Through the pilot program, the San Francisco VA will begin offering the Vibrant Soundbridge at its San Francisco location on a fully reimbursed basis to a limited number of hearing impaired veterans. Davis said that a successful pilot program could lead to broader adoption within the VA system in the near future.
The Vibrant Soundbridge represents an innovative approach to hearing improvement -- the first implantable middle ear hearing device. Unlike conventional acoustic hearing aids, which increase the volume of sound that goes to the eardrum, the Vibrant Soundbridge bypasses the ear canal and eardrum by directly vibrating the small bones in the middle ear. Because of its design, no portion of the device is placed in the ear canal itself. The Vibrant Soundbridge has been approved by the FDA as a safe and effective treatment option for adults with moderate to severe sensorineural hearing loss who desire an alternative to acoustic hearing aids. Of the approximate 28 million Americans who suffer from hearing loss, 60 percent have moderate to severe hearing loss.
Individuals with moderate to severe sensorineural hearing loss who are interested in an alternative to hearing aids, can obtain more information about the Vibrant Soundbridge middle ear implant by calling Symphonix Devices, Inc. at 1-800-833-7733, or by visiting the Symphonix Web site at www.symphonix.com.
