dELiA*s Direct Sales Increase 23%
dELiA*s Retail Posts Double Digit Comparable Store Gains
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 4, 2001--dELiA*s Corp. (NasdaqLIA - news), a leading marketer to consumers between the ages of 13 and 24, today announced record holiday sales results for its dELiA*s-branded businesses.

For the six-week period beginning the week of Thanksgiving, net sales at dELiA*s direct, which includes the dELiA*s catalog and dELiAs.com, increased 23% compared to last year on a 5% catalog circulation increase. dELiA*s premier retail store sales increased 95% during the same period. As of December 31, 2000, the company operated 31 dELiA*s premier stores, compared to 17 stores a year ago. Retail sales growth was driven in part by low-double-digit comparable store gains and above-plan gross margins.

Stephen Kahn, Chief Executive Officer, commented, ``We are extremely pleased to report strong holiday results in our core dELiA*s franchise. The dELiA*s catalog, Web site and stores experienced record traffic and sales throughout this critical retailing period. Moreover, these results were achieved without the need for any significant price reductions.``

Mr. Kahn continued, ``As we enter the new year, we are continuing to streamline our business to concentrate on our core dELiA*s brand. We believe that we have a powerful operating infrastructure and ample capital resources to continue to build a profitable, long term business serving our teen customers in the malls, in their homes and on the Internet.
