Luxell and Hyundai LCD reports enhanced contrast ratio, Organic Light Emitting Diode (ECR OLED) Performance
TORONTO, ON - October 06, 2003 - Luxell Technologies Inc. and Hyundai LCD Inc. announced today that their collaboration has resulted in the enhanced visual performance of OLED displays, which they will present at the forthcoming International Display Workshop in Fukuoka, Japan. Hyundai`s expertise in Small Molecule OLED design and processing, combined with Luxell`s capabilities in optical interference techniques applications has improved the contrast and legibility of OLED displays under high ambient lighting conditions. The partnering has produced a prototype 2.1" monochrome display device, suitable for portable applications and offering equivalent or superior performance to "circular polarizer" contrast-enhanced displays at a fraction of the materials cost.
Dr. Woo Young Kim, Luxell`s Chief Technology Officer, commented, "This is merely another step in the productive relationship we enjoy with Hyundai LCD. We are laying the groundwork for the necessary technical base in order to ensure our contrast enhancement processes may be readily implemented in commercial OLED displays to the benefit of both manufacturer and end-user alike. This close cooperative relationship with such a major OLED partner, coupled with the previously announced collaboration with Canada`s National Research Council in the same technology area, is intended to ensure that we bring a fully mature, risk-free process to market on an accelerated schedule."
About Hyundai LCD Hyundai LCD, originally a division of Hynix Semiconductor manufacturing, is now amongst the top 10 passive LCD manufacturers in the field of mobile communication, PDA, industry equipment and automotive displays and is continuing robust growth in the flat panel display market. As of January 1, 2002, new investors from China and Korea acquired the business with the mission to provide a total solution in small and medium-sized flat panel displays. Hyundai`s current product portfolio includes various designs of mono color TN, color STN and full color TFT LCD and will be diversified with OLED manufacturing in 2004. More information can be found at www.hylcd.com.

Luxell Reports First Quarter Fiscal 2004 Results; Revenues up 209% Compared to Q1 Fiscal 2003
Monday January 19, 10:30 am ET
TORONTO, Jan. 19 /CNW/ - Luxell Technologies Inc. (TSX:LUX - News) today announced that revenues for the first quarter of fiscal 2004, ending November 30, 2003, increased 209% to $623,306, as compared with $201,595 for the same period in the previous fiscal year. The net loss for the first quarter was improved to $1,753,242 or ($0.05) per share compared to a loss of $1,956,550 ($0.05) per share for the first quarter of 2003. Loss before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) was $1,349,054, compared to a loss of $1,593,623 for the same period last year.
First Quarter Highlights:
- Aktelux (a division of Luxell Technologies Inc.) partnered with Firan
Technology Group (a division of Circuit World Corporation) to
co-develop and co-market an expanded range of defence and aerospace
systems. This partnership will allow both companies to leverage off
the other`s strengths and to improve their competitive stance,
deliver " best value in class" , and to expand product range and
services provided to customers.
- Luxell Technologies Inc. and Hyundai LCD Inc. co-developed a
prototype 2.1" monochrome display device, suitable for portable
applications and offering equivalent or superior performance to
" circular polarizer" contrast enhanced displays at a fraction of the
material cost. This is another step in the right direction, laying
the groundwork for the necessary technical base in order to ensure
ready implementation of our " Black Layer" contrast enhancement
processes into commercial OLED displays to the benefit of both
manufacturer and end-user alike.
John Wright, Luxell`s President & CEO said, " While our Q1 revenues fell short of our expectations, the revenue shortfall was caused by client needs being deferred, rather than cancelled, and therefore I anticipate a compensatory upswing in business volume in later quarters. On all other fronts the Company is performing to my satisfaction. We have made outstanding progress in working toward ISO 9001:2000 certification, which considerably strengthened our sales/marketing representation, and we are on schedule in the development and validation of our enhanced " Black Layer" process, while maintaining tight control over our costs and cash-flow. Our continued performance at this level, coupled with the improving market conditions and transition of Federal government leadership, should keep us on track to achieve our stated goal of cash-flow positive operation."
Luxell will be holding its Annual Meeting on Tuesday, February 24, 2004 (at) 4.30 p.m. at the Toronto Board of Trade Airport Centre, 830 Dixon Road, Etobicoke, Ontario.
