CLEARWATER, Fla., Jan 31, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) --

$17.5 Million Revenues, $.13 EPS, Posts Third Consecutive Quarter of Double-Digit Revenue and Earnings Growth; FY 99 Revenues Exceed $50 Million

Digital Lightwave(R), Inc. (Nasdaq:DIGL), a leading provider of innovative optical networking products and technology, today announced record revenues and earnings for the fourth quarter and fiscal year ended December 31, 1999.

Fourth-quarter revenues were $17.5 million, up 23 percent from revenues of $14.2 million for the third quarter and more than double the $8.3 million reported for the fourth quarter of 1998. Net income was $3.9 million, or $.13 per share (diluted), up from $2.6 million, or $.09 per share (diluted), for the third quarter and compared with a net loss of $6.2 million, or a loss of $0.23 per share, for the fourth quarter of 1998. The loss for the fourth quarter of fiscal 1998 included approximately $4.6 million, or $.17 per share, of special charges principally associated with litigation and restructuring matters.

"The increasing demand for global Internet bandwidth continued to fuel profitable revenue growth for the company," said Gerry Chastelet, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Digital Lightwave. "For the year, we more than doubled our revenues, shipped over 1,100 NICs, began extending our market reach through initiating OEM and joint marketing relationships, and stepped up our technology leadership through the introduction of several new products. We`re excited by the performance of the business and view 2000 as an opportunity to expand our role in the burgeoning market for optical network products."

Revenues for fiscal year 1999 were $50.5 million, more than double the revenues of $24.2 million reported for fiscal year 1998. Net income for fiscal year 1999 was $5.0 million, or $.17 per share (diluted), compared with a net loss of $29.8 million, or $1.13 per share, for the previous year. The loss for fiscal year 1998 included $14.1 million, or $.54 per share, of special charges principally associated with litigation and restructuring matters.

During the fourth quarter, Digital Lightwave added several new customers in the telecommunications sector. Key customers taking product deliveries during the quarter included Ameritech, Cisco Systems, Electro Rent Corporation, GTE, Level 3, MCI WorldCom, Nortel Networks, Progress Telecommunications (an affiliate of Florida Power), and Qwest.

      Beitrag Nr. 4 ()
      sehr profitablen Nische plaziert.

      Good Luck
