in der politischen Großwetterlage tut sich gerade etwas, das alle China Werte kräftig in die Knie
zwingen könnte. China und Taiwan sind wieder mal auf "Kriegsfuß" und das im wahrsten Sinne
des Wortes.
Lest mal im neuen SPIEGEL die Seite 232. Dort kommen Kriegstreiber aus der obersten
Führungsetage (gegen Taiwan) zu Wort. Die "abtrünnige Provinz" soll notfalls mit militärischen
Mitteln "heimgeholt" werden. Vorsicht, die Chinesen scheren sich keinen Deut um die
ausländische Meinung oder Presse.
Auch AP berichtete heute Morgen von Truppenbewegungen und schärferer Rhetorik. Vielleicht ist
das ganze auch nur ein Ritual, aber ich wäre nicht überrascht, wenn die ganzen China Wert (und
dazu gehört auch Hongkong!) kräftig nach unten korrigieren würden.

DJ China Ups Pressure On Taiwan, Offers Reunification Or War BEIJING (AP)--Stepping up pressure on rival Taiwan in the midst of its presidential election campaign, China warned the island Monday that it must eventually negotiate unification or face a possible war. Although the State Council, China`s cabinet, stopped short of setting a timetable for unification in a new policy paper, it gave the most comprehensive explanation of what circumstances would cause Beijing to attack Taiwan.

To the usual conditions of a declaration of independence by the island and foreign interference, China added that the indefinite refusal by Taiwan to negotiate would also compel Beijing "to adopt all drastic measures possible, including the use of force, to ... fulfill the great cause of reunification." The pronouncement seemed intended to sway Taiwanese politicians and voters in the run-up to the March 18 election and underscored the Chinese leadership`s worries about growing separatist sentiment on the island.

China`s communist government has never relinquished its claim to Taiwan, which split from the mainland amid civil war 51 years ago, while the Taiwanese government supports eventual unification once the mainland becomes more democratic.

The U.S. responded by sending warships near the island as a caution to Beijing, reviving Chinese fears of U.S. interference.

The State Council document also warned the U.S. to limit its support for Taiwan and "not to stand in the way of the reunification of China." "Acting otherwise will destroy the external conditions necessary for the Chinese government to strive for peaceful reunification," the document said. The policy paper saved its harshest words for Taiwanese President Lee, who is stepping down. It vilified Lee for promoting separatism since he first came to power a decade ago. "Lee Teng-hui has become the general representative of Taiwan`s separatist forces, a saboteur of the stability of the Taiwan Strait, a stumbling-block preventing the development of relations between China and the United States and a troublemaker for the peace and stability of the Asia-Pacific region," it said.
