Hi otcTrader & hotties,
ich glaube eine interessante Aktie. Habt Ihr Euch mal den Intraday vom 24.03. angeschaut. Die Aktie ist 3,30 Eu auf 4,60 Eu hochgegangen. Durchaus interesaant. Was machen die genau.

Hi Leute,
Potential von 50Mio-2Mrd.US$!

Morgen Leute,
was haltet ihr von der Nachricht vom 22.3:
Finanzierungsrunde abgeschlossen!
Vancouver, B.C., March 22, 2000 - Imagis Technologies Inc. (?Imagis?)
announces the closing of a private placement of 875,000 units at $0.80 per
unit for total proceeds of $700,000. Each unit consists of one common share
and one non-transferable share purchase warrant entitling the holder to
purchase an additional common share at a price of $0.80 per share up to
March 17, 2001. The securities issued pursuant to the private placement are
subject to a hold period expiring on July 17, 2000.
Imagis also announces that following the completion of the acquisition of its
subsidiary, Imagis Cascade, in February 1999, the original Venture Capital Pool
Escrow Shareholders and the former shareholders of Imagis Cascade agreed to
pool all of their shares under a Shareholders Agreement dated February 23,
2000. The first 1/3 release of these shares was to occur on February 23,
2000, however, the Shareholder group decided that it would be in the best
interests of Imagis and its shareholders to extend the pooling arrangement of
820,000 shares until July 31, 2000 in order to maintain an orderly market and
allow Imagis? aggressive expansion of its sales and marketing efforts world
wide to be reflected in its financial performance.

gemütliche Grüße

The new face of law and order
Facial recognition works by taking a video image of
the points between someone`s eyes, ears, mouth and nose,
and turning them into a virtual identity card
BRAHM ROSENSWEIG
Special to The Globe and Mail
Wednesday, July 12, 2000
Saving face used to mean maintaining one`s honour. Now it could mean maintaining a database, thanks to new facial-recognition technology that can scan your face as it passes a video camera, and compare it against a database of stored mug shots.
The technology is already on the street, deployed in both pilot projects by police and government, and in commercial applications by private industry. One among a bevy of new biometric technologies, facial recognition is emerging as the biometric application, par excellence, for keeping tabs on people, particularly for law enforcement purposes.
Biometrics is the science of establishing identity, in real time, through the measurement of some aspect of human physiology. After years of experimentation, it`s poised to take off, and no less an authority than Bill Gates has declared it will become one of the most important technologies of the next few years.
Facial-recognition software is only one of a host of emerging biometric products, which include digital-fingerprint imaging, iris recognition, voice recognition, and many others. It`s assured of a prominent place in the biometric future, if only because our face is our most easily accessed (and hardest to hide) biometric calling card. Some see it as an unprecedented crime-fighting and access-control tool, although to others it opens a Pandora`s box of social concerns.
At the heart of facial-recognition technology is the principle that spatial relationships between various landmarks in the face can be represented by complex mathematical patterns. The first step in the process occurs when the software recognizes a face-like pattern in a captured video image, something like two eyes, a nose and a mouth, which it can isolate from the background and define as a face. The software isn`t seeking facial features per se, but rather nodal points, or facial landmarks that exist on every human face.
This takes into account a lot more than just eyes and noses, and includes more subtle features such as nose bridges, cheekbone structure, and eye-socket shapes. The system then transforms all the spatial relationships between these landmarks into a unique mathematical representation, a kind of numerical template known as a faceprint. The software looks for some 80 or so landmarks on a face, though only 14 to 22 of these are needed to generate a faceprint. Fingerprint technology, the de facto industry standard against which other biometric technologies are compared, can rely on as few as 12 points for a match.
The newly generated template is compared with a database of stored faceprints, each of which is linked to an identity. These numerical templates are surprisingly small, weighing in at fewer than 100 bytes each, enabling the possibility of huge databases of faceprints which can be stored on a local level. If one of the faceprints flitting past the video camera matches one in the database, then an identity has been confirmed. Like fingerprints, the chances that two individuals share one faceprint is statistically negligible. A match like this is good enough to allow for both one-to-one matching, where an individual is compared against his own pre-enrolled identity for, say, access control, as well as one-to-many matching, where an identity is sought out among millions of others in a database.
The technology in many ways imitates the process that the human brain uses to classify the thousands of individuals who make up our everyday world. People`s ability to recognize friend or foe by their faces has a deeply rooted evolutionary significance, allowing us to form communities and maintain complex emotional relationships.
But what makes the technology such a powerful tool is also where it differs from our own ability to recognize others. No human can recognize faces at a speed of 60 million records per minute, as some facial-recognition systems claim, nor can humans store in their memory more than a few thousand faces. And while the human eye is easily sidetracked by such obvious physical peculiarities as beards, scars or hair colour, computerized facial recognition looks for more permanent facial cues and shapes that can only be altered by radical cosmetic surgery. For this reason, manufacturers of facial recognition systems boast that their products can recognize people in the database despite almost any attempt to disguise themselves, and over long periods of time.
Nonetheless, humans may still be capable of throwing a curve ball at the system, according to Dr. Kiersten Nobel of New Jersey-based Visionics Corporation.
"A fake beard wouldn`t be a problem, but dark glasses would be," she admits. "Typically we need to be able to see both eyes for alignment purposes."
And although their system needs only a single video frame`s worth of someone`s image to capture enough nodal points for a match, that image must be no more than 35 degrees from frontal view, and have a minimum of 20 pixels of video resolution between the eyes.
Facial-recognition technology lends itself to crime fighting because people`s faces tend to be, well, in your face. Systems using it are already in place in certain police pilot projects and a few full-blown commercial applications. Several police forces in Canada already use Vancouver-based Imagis Technologies` Computerized Arrest and Booking System (CABS), which allows officers in a cruiser to snap a digital photo of an offender, and compare it with a database of previously arrested persons.
In the private sector, several casinos in Las Vegas and Canada are currently using Imagis`s system of facial recognition to alert them when known card sharks walk through the door. Casinos tend have a wide range of security cameras in place, and watchers previously had to leaf through a photo album of known cheaters. Now, the facial-recognition system automatically compares the faces of the gambling public against the casino`s database. When a match occurs, security is dispatched to escort the offender off the premises.
A more significant pilot project was initiated in late 1998 in the East London borough of Newham, which had a history of burglaries and automobile-related crimes. Over 140 closed-circuit television cameras installed around the neighbourhood were equipped with Visionics`s technology to automatically scan the faces of passersby, and compare them to a police database of known criminals.
"Even if the technology doesn`t work, sometimes just scaring people can be very effective," notes one biometrics-industry consultant. Neighbourhoods surrounding Newham actually saw their crime rates increase in 1999.
Combined with high-resolution telephoto and infrared night vision, such precision recognition in public places strikes many as a chilling proposition. Proponents of facial-recognition technology are quick to point out that only numerical templates representing faces are stored by a system, not pictures of faces. This means a template can never be reconstructed into a picture of the original human face, since it lacks enough information to describe an entire face. They also note that the system is blind unless someone has been previously entered into a database, and that all identities that the system picks up along the way -- but which don`t match those stored in the database -- are promptly discarded.
The implication is that only criminals have cause to worry. Critics of police surveillance aren`t quite convinced. Barry Steinhardt, for one, associate director of the American Civil Liberties Union, is concerned about the lack of regulation governing these new surveillance systems.
"The technology is developing at light speed, but the law that governs its use is not developed at all," he told a meeting of law-enforcement and security-industry officials, pointing out that police surveillance has a known tendency to concentrate on certain members of society without criminal justification.
A 1997 British study of police surveillance in that country (which has a long history of public tolerance for closed-circuit monitoring in public places) noted that police surveillance tended to disproportionately target young people and people of colour, and that one in 10 women were targeted for entirely voyeuristic reasons by male operators. With respect to facial-recognition software, Mr. Steinhardt worries that images of people at political rallies, for example, could be stored in police databases marking them as "troublemakers."
The biometrics community is aware that public unease over powerful biometric applications could result in a backlash crippling the nascent industry. "We very strongly favour governments taking actions to make sure that biometrics can`t be abused," says Richard Norton, president of the International Biometrics Industry Association.
The group advocates that biometric data, particularly in government use, should remain compartmentalized, meaning that information from one application, say, a voter-registration program, is never made available for other uses or to other departments. In the commercial world, the group feels that effective privacy regulations should be put in place ensuring that people have control over their own data, and that it`s not shared against their will, or used in other unauthorized ways. But many industry analysts agree that most biometric technologies would be hard to keep out of the hands of companies or governments around the world, who might well use them in unregulated ways.

Facial recognition works by taking a video image of
the points between someone`s eyes, ears, mouth and nose,
and turning them into a virtual identity card

Weiss sonstjemand noch was?
So long!
So long!

IMAGIS INSTALLS CASINO-ID and BIOMETRIC FACIAL
RECOGNITION SOFTWARE IN GATEWAY CASINOS
Imagis Biometric Technology will be used to capture and compare images
of facial features to identify undesirable customers in Casinos
Vancouver, BC, July 19, 2000; Imagis Technologies Inc. (“Imagis”) is pleased to announce the
official launch and installation of CASINO-ID and its biometric Facial Recognition Software at
Gateway Casinos Inc. in Canada. Gateway Casinos will install software licenses in all three of its
locations in the greater Vancouver area of British Columbia. Upon installation, CASINO-ID
will allow integration between all Gateway locations with the capability to connect, share
database information and photography. By year-end, Gateway Casinos anticipates adding their
Edmonton, Alberta facility to the list of connected CASINO-ID users.
CASINO-ID was designed to allow any casino or gaming establishment to utilize biometric
technology to capture images using existing surveillance cameras, and then create suspect
databases and compare images based on facial features only. “The technology allows us to be
proactive instead of reactive. We can now use the facial recognition software to identify a
“barred” individual as he enters the casino instead of at the table and then having to remove
him,” advises Mr. Bill Openshaw, Director of Security, Gateway Casinos. “By being proactive
we can better identify undesirable customers before they do harm and protect our facility, our
staff and our customers”.
CASINO-ID allows for the security and surveillance personnel to track suspicious behavior,
collect data and photo information, produce colour reports for audit and reporting criterion and
share information digitally with security personnel, other locations and other gaming facilities.
Having instant access to the information and verification using biometric facial recognition,
allows security personnel to respond to situations before they do any harm. “ We are looking
forward to connecting all four of our facilities over the next few months. We believe the real
strength in CASINO-ID is the ability to share data and images quickly and easily”, reports
Moniqe Wilberg, Director of Operations for Gateway Casinos. “If we share information
electronically we are 50 steps further along than not. There is a lot we can do to stop criminal
activity within the gaming industry. CASINO-ID is a technology software tool that helps us do
that.”Imagis Technologies Inc.

“Gateway Casinos have been an integral partner in the development and design of CASINO-ID
software after having been referred to Imagis from a detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted
Police (RCMP),” stated Iain Drummond, President & CEO. “The RCMP have been successfully
using Imagis flagship Computerized Arrest and Booking software (CABS) for approximately 5
years. We have undertaken extensive beta testing for a number of months at Gateway and with
this expertise we plan to aggressively market our products in the gaming sector.” Mr.
Drummond added, “We are one of very few companies that own a biometric application used in
the gaming industry, that inherently utilizes biometric facial recognition technology as the
unique identifier, to identify “undesirables” with the use of the facility’s existing surveillance
cameras.”
In addition, Mr. Drummond announces that Imagis Technologies Inc. has become a member of
the International Biometric Industry Association (“IBIA”) located in Washington, D.C.
Imagis Technologies Inc. is an international developer and distributor of biometric and other
software applications for digital identification and image management for the law enforcement,
gaming and security sectors.
This document contains forward-looking statements including statements regarding the
anticipated benefits of the installation of Imagis’ CASINO-ID product in three Gateway Casinos
locations and the anticipated timing of installation of CASINO-ID in a fourth location of
Gateway Casinos. Actual results could differ materially from those anticipated in these
statements based upon a number of factors including the ability of Imagis and Gateway Casinos
to coordinate to install CASINO-ID successfully and on a timely basis. Forward-looking
statements are based on management’s beliefs, opinions and projections on the date the
statements are made. Imagis’ undertakes no obligation to update forward-looking statements if
circumstances or management’s beliefs, opinions or projections should change.
