Aus einem Research Bericht von Lloyd's Register/QuinetiQ/University of Strathclyde(Glasgow) aus 2013 bezüglich der Energiegewinnung bis 2030 wird sich der Offshore Ölanteil an der Gesamtgewinnung von 10 % in 2004 auf 45 % in 2030 erhöhen.
Der Offshore Gasanteil erhöht sich im gleichen Zeitraum von 28 % auf 42 %.
Der weltweite Gesamtbedarf an Naturalgas wird sich bis 2030 um rund 60 % erhöhen.
Deshalb ist mir um Offshore Öl- und Gasexploration und -produktion nicht Bange. Nur Zeit muss man haben.
Der Offshore Gasanteil erhöht sich im gleichen Zeitraum von 28 % auf 42 %.

The recovery of first oil and confirmation of the presence of high quality source rocks
within the oil-generating window has been announced by HRT Participações (“HRT”) in the
Wingat-1 well in Licence PEL-23, immediately adjacent to Pancontinental’s EL 0037
Pancontinental Oil and Gas NL (“Pancontinental”) (ASX: PCL) is pleased to announce the findings
of a report by leading independent consultant D&M estimating the resource potential of the

Windhoek (fis) – Nur drei Wochen nach Beginn der Ölsuche des brasilianischen Unternehmens HRT Participações em Petróleo S.A. ist dieses auf das schwarze Gold gestoßen und hat damit nachgewiesen, dass es vor Namibias Küste Ölvorkommen gibt. Gestern haben HRT-Präsident Joe Paul und Premierminister Hage Geingob in Windhoek eine Probe präsentiert, die am 25. März mittels Bohrung aus dem Gebiet „Wingat-1“ (2212/07/1) im Walvis-Becken nordwestlich von Walvis Bay genommen wurde.
Das dort entdeckte Ölvorkommen sei aber zu klein für eine kommerzielle Nutzung, hieß es. Deshalb werde HRT die Aktivitäten fortsetzen und demnächst ca. 15 Kilometer westlich von Wingat-1 eine Bohrung durchführen, kündigte Paul an. Die Kosten für die erste Bohrung, die in ca. 1000 Meter Wassertiefe durchgeführt worden sei und bis zu 5000 Meter Tiefe gereicht habe, bezifferte er auf 810 Millionen Namibia-Dollar.
Wie der HRT-Präsident weiter sagte, habe man bei den Bohrungen festgestellt, dass es in der Tiefe Muttergestein mit „reichem Kohlenwasserstoffgehalt“ gebe, was ein deutliches Anzeichen auf Öl- (oder Gas-)Vorkommen ist. Das Unternehmen teilte indes in einer aktuellen Erklärung zu „Investitionsbeziehungen“ mit, dass man mit der Bohrung das Potenzial der Albstufe-Kohlenstoffplattform habe testen wollen.
HRT-Geschäftsführer Milton Romeu Franke zeigte sich „zufrieden mit den Gesamtergebnissen von Wingat-1“, vor allem mit der „Bestätigung von hoch qualitativem Muttergestein“. Die Entdeckung dieses Vorkommens sorge für entsprechendes Vertrauen, dass HRT „unsere Ziele, die für den Bohrplan in dem Land gesetzt wurden, erfüllen“, wird Franke in der Investorenmitteilung zitiert. HRT sei in zehn Blocks vor der Küste Namibias aktiv, für die man vier Mineralöllizenzen besitze, heißt es weiter.
Bergbau- und Energieminister Isak Katali hat bei der gestrigen Präsentation etwaige Erwartungen gebremst, dass durch diesen Fund der Spritpreis im Land sinken würde. Zur Förderung und Verarbeitung von Öl seien viele Phasen notwendig, sagte Katali. Im Moment lohnt sich auf jeden Fall immer mal wieder ein Blick ins CHAR-Board auf dem iii-Board.
Dort ist ein User namens Jimmy24 unterwegs, der ziemlich Ahnung zu haben scheint, was Öl- und Gasexploration angeht.
Hier mal sein neuester Beitrag zu Wingat-1 offshore Namibia. Er geht sehr stark von einer Gascap über Öl aus.

The multiple visits by the supply vessels to obtain supplies would be consistent with the rig needing extra supplies to have drilled deeper than originally forecast.
It is my hypothesis, that the need to drill deeper is to find out more information about the nature of the source rocks. Thats really important for Chariot also.

In particular I would draw a readers attention to a number of reasons why gas could be present with oil in the Walvis Basin.
In simple terms these are as follows:
1. A deep source rock known as the Whitehills formation of circa carboniferous age could generate gas at depth.
2. Walvis Basin may have entered a period of inversion (uplift) within the Tertiary Period.According to a paper published in the Geological Society special publication No 196 (page 401) by Dore et Al , one of the effect of uplift is that gas contained within oil reservoirs is gas is depressurised and hence will exolve from the oil, therby creating a gas cap, above the oil.
3. There were 120 meters of coal beds encountered on the coast onshore of Namibia in the Toscanni well. If these coals were buried at depth they could generate gas which would migrate through the oil, and result in a gas cap.
4. There appears to be a gelogical low burial area close to the HRT drilling area where source rocks may be buried more deeply than in other areas of the Walvis Basin . See Table 3 and cross section C and the line with an X in it on the Table 3 map, showing the low area, which I believe to be in HRT acreage. Chariots acreage would be well away from that area. Hence any gas generation may be local to HRT's acreage.
Obviously , we can only speculate till further details emerge. However the presence of source rocks confirmed by HRT on page 18 of its presentation is very important to Chariot. Even if gas is found at thw Wingat well, there could still be oil in Chariots acreage as gas generation might only be local to HRT's acreage.
We must wait to get more details to find out what geological model is working in the area.

heating up, with two wells currently being drilled.
In Kenya, Anadarko is drilling the Kiboko well in block L11B which is east of
Pancontinental’s L10A and L10B blocks. In Namibia, HRT is currently

immediately south of Pancontinental’s Namibian acreage. Success in either
of these wells has the ability to re-rate Pancontinental because the
Company has similar play types across its own acreage.
The March quarterly shows Pancontinental has $35.3m in cash, which
should be sufficient to meet exploration commitments for the next 12 to 18
months.
Plenty of catalysts to come out of Kenya in 2013
There are a number of catalysts to come from drilling and farmouts in
Kenya.
BG plans to drill one well each in blocks L10A (PCL 15%) and L10B (PCL
15%) commencing in 4Q13. BG is targeting Miocene Reefs believed to
contain oil (similar to the Kifaru prospect in the L6 block).
The L8 (15%) joint venture is due to decide on a second well following the
Mbawa well. The decision to drill a second well will provide more
confidence in the prospectivity of the block, especially if Tullow exercises its
right to partly carry Pancontinental for another 5% interest (leaving PCL with 10%).
We suspect that the joint venture parties may be waiting
for the results of Anadarko’s second well before deciding on drilling a second well in L8.
Pancontinental is seeking to farmout some of its interest in L6, though this
may take some time while newly acquired 3D seismic is interpreted.
