Kyrgyz rare earths revival bodes well for country's economy
.......The opening of the old production plant also indicates optimism on the part of Stans Energy that new rare earth deposits will be found in Kyrgyzstan’s Switzerland-like mountain landscape.
Kyrgyzstan’s location near the world’s main rare earths mining centers, and the fact that rare earths always seem to be found near uranium and gold deposits suggest the company is correct.........

Toronto company to revive Kyrgyz rare earth metals operation
...........The announcement is significant for Kyrgyzstan in light of increased global rare earth metals demand resulting from China cutting its rare earth metals exports last year.
The plant’s rail station offers connections to China, Korea and Russia and includes two offices, a weigh station, two warehouses and a gantry crane. The station is located approximately 21 miles from the Kutessay mine.

Corporate Presentations:
Topic: Big Picture Stocks for 2012. Thema u.a. Stans Energy
http://cambridgehouse.com/cambridgehouse2_images/agenda/pdfs…

Tuesday, January 17, 2012 - Kyrgyz legislators on Tuesday met with representatives of mining industries operating in Kyrgyzstan to discuss measures which will protect miners’ investment in the volatile Central Asian country.
Kyrgyz legislators hope to draft a new law shortly that will cut down on corruption and to ease investors’ worries that their property will be seized by the government, local news sources reported.
The bill will be ready by next month, Deputy Prime Minister for the Economy Djoomart Otorbaev said.
“Time is short, the package of regulations will be prepared in a short time, by February,” the KyrTAG news agency reported Otorbaev as saying.
He said the new law would end the practice of mining firms having to pay fines to operate.
“According to a World Bank study, in previous years 84 percent of firms reported that they resorted to paying bribes to solve their problems,” the Knews.kg news agency reported Otorbaev as saying.
“Henceforth it will be stopped by regulations and law enforcement agencies. Fighting corruption is now one of the priorities of the government.”
Otorbaev also said that Kyrgyzstan will look to other states with effective mining legislation – which includes Mongolia, Botswana, and Chile – and use these codes as a model on which to draft their own.
Kyrgyzstan has struggled to maintain stability in the past decade, with two revolutions to overthrow presidents and a prolonged period of violent ethnic unrest in the southern provinces of the country in 2010.
In addition, incensed locals have looted the local headquarters of foreign mining companies in the past year as they clamored for jobs and better environmental protection.

Slumping Rare Earth Prices Take Toll on Lynas Corporation and Great Western Minerals
"Not all rare earth metals are suffering from oversupply concerns. A recent U.S. Energy Department (DOE) report finds that limited supplies of five rare-earth minerals pose a threat to increasing use of clean-energy technologies. The DOE predicts that dysprosium, terbium, europium, neodymium and yttrium will all face supply constraints until at least 2015."
