BURTONSVILLE, Md. & TAMPA, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--New Energy Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB: NENE - News) debuts its SolarWindow™ technology today during a demonstration at the University of South Florida (USF). This first-of-its-kind, spray-on technology is capable of transforming everyday surfaces, such as windows, into energy-generating devices using both natural and artificial light sources, outperforming today’s commercial solar and thin-film technologies by as much as 10-fold under low-intensity irradiance.
“Today’s public demonstration is a pivotal milestone not only for the dedicated research team, but for our external stakeholders as well, including our investors who are keenly aware of how the development of the highly-anticipated SolarWindow™ technology has the potential to create a fundamental paradigm shift in the way we produce power worldwide,” said Mr. John A. Conklin, President and CEO of New Energy Technologies, Inc.
New Energy researchers have developed a working prototype of the Company’s SolarWindow™ technology in preparation for eventual full-scale production. Low production costs, improved manufacturability, and increased power performance are among important, recently announced objectives researchers are now targeting. Key to these advances is the development of new methods and technologies for applying New Energy’s electricity-generating coatings to glass surfaces.
Electrical power is generated on glass when New Energy’s SolarWindow™ coatings are sprayed onto surfaces using commercially available equipment. This patent-pending process enables researchers to spray SolarWindow™ coatings onto glass at room temperature, eliminating expensive and often cumbersome high-temperature or high-vacuum production methods typically used by current solar manufacturers.
Until now, most solar modules have remained opaque with the prospect of creating a see-thru glass window capable of generating electricity limited by the use of metals and various expensive processes which block visibility and prevent light from passing through glass window surfaces.
Researchers are also working to bolster the electrical power output of SolarWindow™, generated from both natural sunlight and artificial sources such as fluorescent lighting typically installed inside commercial offices and incandescent bulbs inside residential homes. Unlike conventional solar technologies, New Energy’s SolarWindow™ generates electricity from both natural and artificial light sources, outperforming today’s commercial solar and thin-film technologies by as much as 10-fold under low-intensity irradiance.
A small-scale prototype of SolarWindow™ will be demonstrated by USF researchers today at 2:30 p.m. at the Science Center (SCA) Board Room (411) & Research Laboratory (421). Visitors can obtain a parking permit at the Campus Information Center near the main entrance.
The demonstration will be led by Dr. Xiaomei Jiang, Inventor & Lead Researcher at the Department of Physics at the University of South Florida, whose work with small, organic solar cells helped her generate electricity on see-thru glass. Dr. Jiang will be joined at the demonstration by John A. Conklin, President and CEO of New Energy Technologies, Inc.; Valerie Landrio McDevitt, Assistant Vice President, Division of Patents and Licensing, University of South Florida, and U.S. Registered Patent Attorney; Jaideep Rajput, Patent Attorney and Senior Licensing Manager, Division of Patents and Licensing, University of South Florida; and Jason E. Lewis, Researcher & PhD Candidate, University of South Florida.

Alle anderen sollten E.On oder RWE kaufen.

Leading Solar Testing Agency Confirms New Energy’s Power Output for its SolarWindow™
See-thru spray-on technology turns ordinary glass surfaces into electricity-generating SolarWindows™, able to outperform rooftop solar by 300%
BURTONSVILLE, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- New Energy Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB:NENE) announced today that Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC), a leading American certification and testing laboratory for solar products and equipment, has validated the Company’s power production modeling calculations for its novel, SolarWindow™ technology.
SolarWindow™ is the first-of-its-kind see-thru glass window capable of generating electricity, and able to outperform conventional rooftop solar module installations by more than 300% when applied to the facades of commercial tall buildings and skyscrapers.
Engineers modeling a 40-story building, similar to Tampa’s landmark “100 North Tampa,” estimate annual cost-savings of $40,000 to $70,000 when installing New Energy’s SolarWindow™ to exposed window facades. In contrast, mounting today’s popular poly-crystalline silicon modules rack-mounted on the rooftop produces only $20,000 in energy savings per year.
“We have long anticipated that applying SolarWindow™ to exterior glass surfaces of commercial towers could generate energy savings several-fold greater than today’s rooftop solar systems,” explained Mr. John A. Conklin, President and CEO of New Energy Technologies, Inc. “It’s wonderful to have these power modeling calculations now validated by FSEC, a highly-respected independent solar testing agency."
FSEC engineers reviewed numerous variables associated with the design basis and guidelines used in New Energy’s SolarWindow™ electrical power and financial model calculations, including:
* Building Area and Height - These variables account for the structure’s length and width, and allow for modeling of the number of building stories and calculation of “total viewable window surface area”;
* Number of Building Sides Available - This allows for calculation of SolarWindow™ power output based on various window exposure configurations;
* Peak Sun Hours - The number of hours required for a day’s total solar irradiation to accumulate at peak sun condition (PSH/day);
* Annual Building Energy Demand – The amount of energy required to power a building (kWHr/Yr);
* Roof Area – This calculation allows for comparison of SolarWindow™ against rooftop solar installations, and considers an “open array arrangement” for such systems; and
* Solar Offset Desired (Solar Fraction) - The percentage of a building's energy requirements that can be met (satisfied) by a solar energy system. A Solar Offset of 100% means the entire building energy requirement is satisfied by the renewable energy system.
Following their review, FSEC engineers concluded that calculations in New Energy’s SolarWindow™ power output calculations model are “…reasonable and free of any significant errors.”
Florida Solar Energy Center is one of the nation's leading certification and testing laboratories for solar products and equipment. The center’s expertise is based on nearly 30 years experience conducting solar energy certification and testing programs, the accreditation of PowerMark Corporation (PMC) and partnerships with such national associations as the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), The National Association of State Energy Offices (NASEO), and the Solar Rating & Certification Corporation (SRCC).
FSEC is renowned for solar testing, and has a long-standing history of certifying both solar hot water and photovoltaic (PV) modules. FSEC-certified PV modules include products by industry leaders such as: General Electric, Mitsubishi, Sanyo, Samsung, Sharp, BP Solar, DuPont Apollo, First Solar, and Suniva, Inc

Press Release Source: New Energy Technologies, Inc. On Tuesday November 23, 2010, 9:15 am EST
COLUMBIA, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- New Energy Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB:NENE.ob - News) today announced plans to advance its efforts to commercialize the Company’s novel SolarWindow™ technology, in order to accelerate to-market the ‘first-of-its-kind’ product capable of generating electricity on see-thru glass windows.
Electrical power is generated on glass by spraying New Energy’s SolarWindow™ coatings onto surfaces using commercially available equipment. Through the Company’s patent-pending process, company researchers spray SolarWindow™ coatings onto glass at room temperature, eliminating expensive and often cumbersome high-temperature or high-vacuum production methods typically used by current solar manufacturers.
Unique to SolarWindow™, glass surfaces remain see-thru, and generate electricity in both natural and artificial light conditions. In artificial light, New Energy’s SolarWindow™ technology outperforms today’s commercial solar and thin-films by as much as 10-fold under low-intensity irradiance. This feature was recently demonstrated at a public unveiling of SolarWindow™.
At the SolarWindow™ debut, company scientists demonstrated the technology’s ability to generate ‘voltage’ to power lighting, and also revealed SolarWindow’s capacity to produce ‘current’ necessary for powering mechanical devices and appliances.
“Our demonstration of SolarWindow’s ability to generate both current and voltage on glass surfaces, while remaining see-thru, is an incredible technical achievement and marks a pivotal maturation point for New Energy, where we have transitioned from early research towards product development, and eventual commercial launch,” explained Mr. John A. Conklin, President & CEO of New Energy Technologies, Inc.
“SolarWindow™ is a fantastic product under development, which not only promises to deliver significant environmental benefits to consumers, but also bears enormous commercial opportunity for all of our stakeholders. The prospect of creating a technology capable of turning otherwise passive window panes into see-thru power generators in an estimated 5 million commercial buildings and 80 million detached homes in America, is very exciting.”
“In upcoming quarters and the year ahead, we anticipate undertaking significant efforts to accelerate our SolarWindow™ towards commercialization. Our priorities include the development of additional patent protection, improved manufacturability, increased power production, advanced power output modeling, and attracting management-level talent able to help advance our breakthrough technology from the research-bench to commercial market,” concluded Mr. Conklin.
Specific initiatives related to the development of SolarWindow™ include:
1. Technical improvements designed to:
a. Improve cell efficiency and performance;
b. Increase transparency of glass surfaces;
c. Enhance durability;
d. Ensure long-term product performance;
e. Scale-up current working prototype; and
f. Develop low-cost manufacturing methods.
2. Strategies designed to:
a. Bolster commercial protection with additional patent filings;
b. Pursue commercial partnership opportunities;
c. Secure third-party certification of the SolarWindow™ ‘module’ performance; and
d. Create advanced models of SolarWindow’s power production when applied to an entire building as a ‘system’.
The Company is working to develop an advanced power output model which accounts for performance and operating characteristics and which can serve as a basis for preliminary system sizing, value engineering, economic analysis, and power offset estimates -- important considerations to prospective SolarWindow™ commercial customers.
Currently under development, SolarWindow™ is the first-of-its-kind see-thru glass window technology capable of generating electricity, and according to the Company’s internal financial modeling, able to outperform conventional rooftop solar installations by more than 300% when applied to the facades of commercial towers.

...sehr "interessanter" Kursverlauf heute.. 10 x durchschn.
New Energy Technologies (formerly called Octillion)
The firm has zero revenue and will continue to have zero revenue for the foreseeable future.
The company is essentially a revenueless incubator for two disparate technologies, organic solar cell technology licensed from the University of South Florida and a set of kinetic energy harvesting techniques.
But do a little bit of digging, and one learns that the efficiency of the solar cell is 0.42 percent under 1 sun irradiance. Which means, roughly, that coating the entire skyscraper with these OSCs would allow it to charge a few cell phones .

The firm has zero revenue and will continue to have zero revenue for the foreseeable future.

We have experienced significant losses and expect losses to continue for the foreseeable future.
Our independent auditors have expressed substantial doubt about our ability to continue as a going concern, which may hinder our ability to obtain future financing.
The sale by our shareholders of restricted shares, either pursuant to a resale prospectus or Rule 144, may adversely affect our ability to raise the funds we will require to effectuate our business plan.
Even if financing were available to us, because we cannot currently estimate the amount of funds or time required to commercialize our technologies we may secure less funding than will actually be required for us to effectuate our business plan.
We may require additional financing to expand, accelerate or sustain our current level of operations beyond February 28, 2011.
We have not generated revenues and because we currently do not have, and may never develop, any commercialized product, we do not anticipate generating revenues for the foreseeable future....

But do a little bit of digging, and one learns that the efficiency of the solar cell is 0.42 percent under 1 sun irradiance. Which means, roughly, that coating the entire skyscraper with these OSCs would allow it to charge a few cell phones.

Vielleicht kann mir jemand der hinter der Firma steht - oder zumindest in ihr ein Funken Hoffnung sieht - ein paar Fragen beantworten;

Antwort auf Beitrag Nr.: 40.706.254 von Thomasbk am 14.12.10 12:32:03"In commercial applications, such as the building facades of office towers, engineers conservatively estimate that installation of New Energy's SolarWindow(TM) can generate more than 300% energy savings over conventional rooftop solar systems. Key to maximizing energy production, SolarWindow(TM) can be applied to the extensive glass surfaces on commercial skyscrapers, an important advantage over conventional solar systems confined to installation on space-prohibitive rooftops"
"By way of example, engineers modeling a 40-story building, similar to Tampa's landmark "100 North Tampa," estimate annual cost-savings of $40,000 to $70,000 when installing New Energy's SolarWindow(TM) to exposed window facades. In contrast, mounting today's popular poly-crystalline silicon modules on the rooftop produces only $20,000 in energy savings per year"

Researchers at the debut event shared early technical hurdles and subsequent achievements which enabled advancement from concept to working prototype, further explaining that efforts are now focused on product development for commercialization of New Energy's see-thru SolarWindow(TM)."
"Following Mr. Conklin's introduction, scientists powered lights on a scale-model house by exposing New Energy's see-thru SolarWindow(TM) to artificial light from fluorescent lamps, mimicking lighting typically installed inside offices.

Was denn auch sonst?

New Energy Announces Plans to Accelerate Commercialization of its Proprietary SolarWindow™ Technology" wird kein Zeitplan für die Markteinführung genannt.

Also eine Wahnsinnsmarge.

New Energy Advances Commercial-Use Power Production Model of SolarWindow™ Following Validation by Independent Expert, Dr. Steven S. Hegedus
Columbia, MD - December 15, 2010 - New Energy Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB: NENE) today announced that successful independent corroboration of early power modeling for the Company's SolarWindow™ has spurred active development of advanced 'commercial-use' models for calculating power production and energy savings for the first-of-its-kind technology capable of generating electricity on glass while remaining see-thru. Once developed, an advanced power output model which accounts for performance and operating characteristics can serve as a basis for preliminary system sizing, value engineering, economic analysis, and power offset estimates -- important considerations to prospective SolarWindow™ commercial customers.
Today's news follows validation of the Company's early power production model by Dr.Steven S. Hegedus,a widely-published expert and authority inphotovoltaics. Dr. Hegedus is credited with more than 90 scientific publications related to thin film solar cell fabrication, characterization, manufacturing methods and reliability studies. Dr. Hegedus also serves as Principal Investigator of industry-funded programs targeting improved power output of solar cells through chemical processes. Working through commercial partnerships, Dr. Steven S. Hegedus has developed technologies to help characterize the stability of organic photovoltaic modules under varying environmental conditions, an important hurdle in ensuring long-term performance. He is the co-editor of the Handbook of Photovoltaic Science and Engineering.
"I'm satisfied that New Energy's preliminary power production model calculations appear accurate and appropriate, and based on reasonable assumptions. The results indicate that even at moderate efficiencies SolarWindow™ could be capable of providing a significant amount of energy, following its successful development and ultimate commercial installation," explained Dr. Hegedus, following his review of the Company's early models to calculate SolarWindow's power production when applied to an entire building as a 'system'.
SolarArray Under Development
Researchers apply electricity-generating coating to commercial glass, demonstrating transparency of New Energy's SolarWindow™, currently under development. Source: New Energy Technologies, Inc.
"Today's validation of our commercial-use power production model is an important step in providing potential customers with a performance and economic model for calculating cost-savings associated with the application of SolarWindow™ to building facades," explained Mr. John A. Conklin, President and CEO of New Energy Technologies, Inc.
Key to maximizing energy production, SolarWindow™ can be applied to the extensive glass surfaces on commercial skyscrapers, an important advantage over conventional solar systems confined to installation on space-prohibitive rooftops.
The prospect of creating the world's first-of-its-kind SolarWindow™, currently under development, is made possible when researchers spray the Company's novel, electricity-generating, see-thru coatings onto glass surfaces. Unique to SolarWindow™, these coatings remain see-thru when applied to glass, and generate electricity under both natural and artificial light conditions. As part of its ongoing efforts to develop SolarWindow™ for commercial use, New Energy recently obtained an exclusive worldwide commercial license to numerous discoveries important to achieving transparency and ease of manufacturing.

As part of its ongoing efforts to develop SolarWindow™ for commercial use, New Energy recently obtained an exclusive worldwide commercial license to numerous discoveries important to achieving transparency and ease of manufacturing.
http://www.udel.edu/iec/index.html
http://www.udel.edu/iec/ssh07pubs.pdf
Was kann man davon halten?

Also fast so wie Dyesol

News Release
New Energy Debuts Largest SolarWindow™ Of-its-Kind Capable of Generating Electricity
Columbia, MD - February 1, 2011 - New Energy Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB: NENE), today announced that researchers have successfully developed a first-generation 12"x12" working prototype of the Company's SolarWindow™ technology, capable of generating electricity on see-thru glass. Compared with its 4"x4" predecessor, unveiled in September 2010, today's debut marks a significant achievement for the Company as it continues to work towards producing a commercially marketable product.
Today's prototype achievement marks a 300% increase in size over its predecessor, and is the first-ever working SolarWindow™ of its dimension. Researchers fabricated this prototype using New Energy's patent-pending process for 'spraying' the Company's electricity-generating coatings directly onto glass, eliminating expensive and often cumbersome high-temperature or high-vacuum production methods typically used by current solar manufacturers.

Sollte doch was dran sein?
