      "At the second Global Automotive Forum held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, Frank Zhao, vice president of GEELY Holding Group, delivered a wonderful speech. By illustrating automotive environments and the development trends both in domestic and overseas markets, Zhao talked about the methods for automotive enterprises to make breakthrough during the global automotive industry reforms as well as the ways in dealing with challenges and pressures.

      Automotive industry plays an irreplaceable role in national economy growth

      There is an idea that has reached consensus: China's emergence is changing the world structure. Rapid growth in the country's automotive industry in recent years also brings structure changes to the world's automotive industry. Global financial crisis in 2008 posed unprecedented challenges for some giant enterprises, while it provided good opportunities for others including China's self-owned companies. It was during the financial crisis that GEELY Holding Group purchased 100 percent stakes of the Australian second largest automatic transmission factory and the world's luxury car brand Volvo. The acquisition brought new hope to the development of China's automotive industry as well as the world's auto industry.

      However, the market competition is fierce, and the largest problem that the automotive industry is facing is how long the industry's good prospects will last. People are talking that the "winter" is coming, and the independently developed brands will face serious challenges. What is the problem? I believe that the current round of competition cannot satisfy corporations' development needs. China has become a real international market and its market competition is fiercer than that in the US and Europe, which for every automotive enterprise is a huge challenge. Of course, we can regard it as a new opportunity, while the challenges embedded in this new opportunity are different. They include country problems, enterprises problems, society problems and the consumers' problems. What we are facing is how to deal with them.

      The nation should further think about the irreplaceable role that automotive industry plays in national economy growth. Statistics show that 10 percent of China's GDP is from automotive industry and if the development of the automotive industry faces bottleneck or slumps, the cost will be great. Therefore, under the current situation, the country should arrange the layout of the auto industry in a more scientific way, support the development of the auto industry, support the development of the independently developed brands and encourage the independently developed brands and joint venture brands to compete in a fair and justice environment. The independently developed brands do not need too much preference, and fair and justice competition environment can be the biggest support.

      Traffic jam in cities should not be simply come down to excessive car quantity

      Traffic jam is an indisputable fact in cities. To solve this problem some cities firstly turn to policies such as purchase limitation, license control and traffic restriction. In their minds, car quantity is the major cause for the traffic jam. To be honest, it is biased. Several aspects combined cause the jam and it is the cities' construction plan that leads to the problem. In the US and Europe, there are more cars than China but no car usage restrictions. Restriction is no good except curbing automotive industry's development.

      Let China's automotive industry develop in accordance with the market laws

      As to how the enterprises seek and seize opportunities in competition, I believe the core problem is to establish its own development route.

      China's self-owned brands currently enjoy adequate acknowledgement, but to make people truly accept their products, there is still a long way to go, as in international market some enterprises with over 80 or even 100 year's history already have acquired core competitiveness. In the past 20 years, China auto's improvement has earned huge competitiveness for its industry, but to enable its brands compete with the world's leading counterparts, China should let them develop freely in accordance with market laws instead of setting too much restrictions on it, which I call self-innovation.

      Self-innovation is the only way out in market competition and is the soul of China's automotive industry development. Every standard should be met through self-innovation. Meanwhile, consumers now have more requirements, and they want higher configuration cars with better quality-cost ratio. To compete with their joint ventures counterparts, self-owned brands must enhance their technology and core competitiveness.

      To improve its core competitiveness, GEELY started strategic transformation in 2007. By transforming focus from producing low-end, low-grade products to emphasizing technology service and corporate morality, GEELY has enhanced its core competitiveness and added-value. It has successfully achieved platforms for five important technologies and 15 products and owned products research and development system with great competency. Meanwhile, GEELY's research team has grown from the previous 300 people to over 2,000. It has also established the product development strategy in line with the international market. This is self-innovation.

      A well-developed auto industry can benefit our future generations. The country has the responsibility to study appropriate industry policies to help its self-developed brands grow stronger. And for the companies themselves, their responsibility is to produce every product in a sustainable way while ensuring economic development. Only by doing this, can the enterprises and China have better futures."

      Im Rahmen der Hangzhou Autoshow hat sich das Komitee wie folgt zu Geely geäußert:

      "... This year, the committee attached great importance to self-developed brands, in particular to GEELY because GEELY has already become a flagship of Chinese self-made brands. Especially after its purchase of Volvo, GEELY is known by the world and it is not only China's pride, but also that of Zhejiang Province....."

      Geely hat im September eine Händlerkonferenz in Russland abgehalten....z. Z. gibt es in Russland 63 Händler....sollte Ausbaufähig sein ;)...

      Das neue Geely-Magazin ist wieder da :).....

      Geely hat als erstes chinesisches Unternehmen ein AAA-Bewertung in Sachen Qualität durch das CPQA erhalten :)....Hammer, welche Preise und Ehrungen Geely noch so gewonnen hat bzw. zu Teil wurde :)...Des Weiteren scheint die AAA-Bewertung einer DER TÜRÖFFNER zu sein :D....Zu lesen auf Seite 72 ;)...

      "The China Product Quality Association (CPQA) is playing a major role in building a creditable and comprehensive quality assurance system in China. The CPQA and the associated CPQA Quality Credit Rating Center (CQCAC) recently jointly launched China's first AAA quality reassurance trademark, registered with and approved by the State Administration for Industry & Commerce.

      CQCAC has awarded one of the first AAA marks to the GEELY Holding Group, which passed the necessary tests required by China's Trademark Law and Product Quality Law.

      GEELY Holding Group is one of the top 10 car companies in China. Since it entered into the auto industry in 1997, flexible operation mechanism and consistent innovation have ensured its rapid growth. Today its total assets exceed 34 billion yuan. It has been one of the country's top 500 enterprises for eight years and one of the top 10 auto enterprises for six years, and was selected as one of the first group of "innovative enterprises" and "Chinese Vehicle and Component Export Bases and Enterprises".

This helps the firm minimize its costs, maximize net profits, and lowers and avoids credibility risks."
