Motorola and Baltimore Team to Secure Mobile Commerce Transactions Worldwide
      DUBLIN, Ireland and SCHAUMBURG, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 26th, 2000--

Baltimore e-security on Motorola Web-enabled Devices to Enable

Trust in Wireless Internet Networks Transactions Worldwide

Baltimore Technologies, a global leader in e-security (NASDAQ:BALT; London:BLM) and Motorola, Inc. (NYSE:MOT - news), a global leader in integrated communications solutions, today announced a strategic agreement to provide solutions for secure and trusted transactions via Internet-enabled wireless devices. This agreement will enable customers of Motorola worldwide to benefit from the advanced security and authentication features provided by the award winning Baltimore Telepathy wireless e-security product and services offerings.

To enable secure, authenticated wireless transactions, Baltimore will provide mobile root digital certificates for embedding in Motorola`s innovative wireless handsets and gateways. In addition, both organizations intend to work together to offer solutions for wireless carriers, consumers and e-commerce service and application service providers (ASPs). These joint solutions will provide the key requirements for secure mobile commerce and payment transactions: confidentiality, authentication, integrity and non-repudiation.

``As we deliver innovative and secure Motorola web-enabled devices to our customers worldwide, we realize that security is crucial in helping to make mobile e-commerce truly ubiquitous,`` said Yvonne Verse, vice president and director - data solutions platform technology and 3rd party developer support, Personal Networks Group, Motorola, Inc. ``Integrating Baltimore`s Telepathy wireless e-security products and services into our devices will help make secure m-commerce a reality.``

Under this strategic agreement, Baltimore and Motorola will work together to develop secure, integrated wireless solutions for mobile devices ranging from phones and Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) to next generation ``Personal Trusted Devices``. Through the use of digital certificates, these secure solutions will enable users to transact, purchase, order and communicate with confidence, knowing that their data cannot be tampered with.

``Formalizing this strategic alliance goes a long way towards ensuring the necessary foundation for secure, standards-based, wireless e-commerce. Together we will enable a broad range of new services for consumers, carrier and content providers,`` said Paddy Holahan executive vice president of global marketing at Baltimore Technologies.

An early deliverable of this alliance is the support by Baltimore`s Wireless Certificate Service for Motorola`s WAP Server platform. Motorola customers will be able to easily obtain wireless certificates to activate the secure session capabilities of the Motorola wireless server infrastructure.

Motorola is committed to forging alliances and internally developing technologies that deliver complete m-commerce solutions to the marketplace. Analysts estimate that over 1 billion people will have access to the wireless Internet by 2003. The company`s goal is to harness the power of m-commerce to give people the ability to access real-time financial data, make purchases and conduct business commerce anytime, anywhere -- building a true Web without wires.

Israel Corp eyes stake in Pelephone
JERUSALEM, Oct 26 (Reuters) - Holding company Israel Corp said on Thursday it is interested in buying a stake in Israeli mobile provider Pelephone as part of its strategy to enter the communications market.

``Israel Corp has said...it is interested in being involved in communications companies in Israel and out of Israel,`` a spokesman said. ``At this moment there is a possibility to buy shares in Pelephone.``

The spokesman declined to offer details as to how many shares it plans to buy.

Pelephone is currently owned by Bezeq Israel Telecom and Motorola (NYSE:MOT - news), who hold 50 percent each.

Spanish firm Telefonica has made a bid for Motorola`s stake, which analysts value at more than $1.5 billion, although Bezeq holds the right of first refusal on the shares.
