BURLINGTON, Mass., Apr 18, 2001 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Open Market, Inc. By supporting AIX, Open Market offers companies a robust enterprise-class content management solution that leverages IBM`s highly scalable e-business software and hardware infrastructure.

"Our decision to support AIX is an important one for our customers and the marketplace," said BC Krishna, CTO at Open Market. AIX provides the reliability, availability, performance and security required for e-business. It integrates key Internet technologies, such as Java(TM) software and includes enhancements to the operating system that provide increased capacity to handle unexpected peaks in demand.

"We are pleased to be taking another step to strengthen our relationship with IBM," said Joe Alwan, senior vice president of marketing at Open Market. "Open Market is now the only content management solution available on both WebSphere and AIX. Not only does this benefit our customers, but it also benefits our partnerships with systems integrators like IBM Global Services, allowing them one less step in implementing a fully integrated solution."

"AIX is widely recognized in the industry as one of the leading commercial UNIX operating systems and offers unmatched performance in Web and e-business environments," said Mike Kerr, Vice President IBM eServer. "The unparalleled power and scalability of IBM`s enterprise solutions enables customers to grow their Open Market content management system to match increases in volume and workloads."

      About AIX

AIX runs across the entire range of IBM pSeries servers, from entry-level servers and workstations to the pSeries midrange servers to powerful supercomputers like the RS/6000(R) SP(R), which runs some of the most complex commercial and technical workloads in the world. AIX supports POWER-based and Itanium-based systems, and provides strong Linux affinity that allows re- compiled Linux programs to run on AIX. AIX includes system security, Web- based systems and network management, and system availability and serviceability features that help systems remain available without administrator intervention and accelerates customer support and problem diagnosis.
