More Than 150 Customers Choose BroadVision InfoExchange Portal as their Platform for Enterprise Self-Service

Industry Analysts Recognize BroadVision as a Leader in the Enterprise Information Portal Market

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.—September 11, 2001 — BroadVision, Inc. (Nasdaq: BVSN), the leading provider of enterprise self-service applications, today announced that more than 150 customers have chosen BroadVision® InfoExchange Portal™ as their strategic platform for enterprise self-service. This leading platform reduces complexity and IT costs by enabling enterprises to not only consolidate hundreds of static web sites into a small number of personalized, enterprise portals but also to provide access to the wide range of back-office and front-office applications that most major organizations have installed today.
BroadVision InfoExchange Portal users include leading global enterprises such as ABN AMRO, Agilent, BT (British Telecom), Coors, FleetBoston Financial, Lloyds TSB, NCR, Nortel Networks, Owens Corning, R.R. Donnelley, Sears, State of California, Toshiba America, TSMC, U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), Wal-Mart and Xerox.

IDC predicts that the global enterprise information portal (EIP) market will continue to grow at a very rapid pace and reach an estimated $554.5 million in 2001. Between 2000 and 2005, IDC predicts a compounded annual growth rate of 57.5 percent with total EIP software revenues of $2.4 billion by 2005. IDC recently ranked BroadVision as the #2 EIP software vendor based on market share in their Worldwide Enterprise Information Portal Software Market Forecast and Analysis, 2000–2005. In addition, Gartner issued a new Magic Quadrant for portal products (2H01 Portal Products Magic Quadrant) in which BroadVision made a successful debut as an industry visionary. In addition, Delphi Group has said that BroadVision InfoExchange Portal “stands out in a number of areas, particularly its personalized self-service and collaboration.” (Delphi Snapshot: BroadVision InfoExchange Portal - Building a Unified e-Business Ecosystem, May 2001).

“Today’s announcement demonstrates that BroadVision InfoExchange Portal is gaining significant traction in the market as companies look to move their relationships with employees, business partners, suppliers and customers to a personalized, self-service model,” said Chris Grejtak, chief marketing officer for BroadVision. “Our portal offering has been well received in a wide variety of industries and is used for many different types of B2C, B2B and B2E portal applications.”

      Owens Corning
Owens Corning, a world leader in building materials systems and composites systems with about $5 billion in sales and approximately 20,000 employees worldwide, is using BroadVision InfoExchange Portal to build a series of “marketing portals,” including a consumer portal that will allow users to find information about Owens Corning’s new building solutions such as its Roofing, Acoustic, Insulating and Basement Finishing Systems. Using the portal, consumers will be able to easily locate local contractors and dealers, as well as address questions to Owens Corning experts regarding their home improvement projects.

“After an in-depth comparison of BroadVision and other e-business solutions we found that, as a total package including applications, architecture, support, professional services and reputation for ability to execute, BroadVision is clearly an industry leader,” said Paul Fortner, director of e-business and new digital technologies of Owens Corning. “BroadVision’s e-business applications and personalization solutions will help us develop stronger relationships with our customers.”

      Lloyds TSB
Lloyds TSB, one of the leading UK-based financial services groups, is using BroadVision InfoExchange Portal to power www.success4business.com, its portal for small-business banking customers. The site customizes information and services for individual businesses based on their “life stage” - including businesses that are just starting out, those looking for expansion or growth, businesses that are looking to simplify day-to-day operations, and those looking for help in moving to the next level. Lloyds TSB selected BroadVision over other major e-business solution providers because of BroadVision’s strong collaboration features and the short time-to-market needed to deliver a fully transactional site.

“We are helping small businesses to benefit from the best the Internet provides,” said Jeremy Hayward, portal director of success4business.com. “To do this, the services have to be relevant to each business banking customer. BroadVision’s contribution allows us to dynamically create content and provide solutions that benefit the individual company as well as the whole business community.”
