Perth-based WRF Securities Limited is set to further increase its
flow of new investment projects, underpinning its long-term revenue
growth, with the launch of a new Property Division alongside its
existing agribusiness investment and gold mining divisions.
The new division will undertake property syndications and target
high-yielding projects with the potential to add further weight to
WRF Securities` investment portfolio. The Group is aiming to have
funds under management of over $200 million within three years.
It will be headed by a leading specialist in the area and well-known
industry figure, Mr Owen Lennie, the former Managing Director of York
Capital Group Limited. Mr Lennie was responsible in this position for
raising property syndicates worth more than $170 million. Mr Lennie
is also Chairman of the Building Advisory Council and represents the
Property Council on the Property Index and Futures Steering
Committee.
The Company`s Managing Director, Mr Rob Nichevich, said the property
division would form a key part of WRF Securities` plans to generate a
stream of new projects to add to its Tasmanian Blue Gum Plantation
on Kangaroo Island in South Australia and Paulownia Plantation at
Dandaragan in Western Australia.
"These are both quality products which offer high-returns for
investors, and we plan to replicate this model in the property sector
in order to increase the momentum of our revenue growth," Mr
Nichevich said.
WRF Securities is building its managed investment activities with the
support of strong cash flow from its 49.9%-owned Dalgaranga Gold Mine
near Cue in Western Australia, which recently underpinned a $3.4
million interim profit for the Group and a decision to reinstate its
dividend policy.
"The key to maintaining this strong performance and a high dividend
payout for shareholders will be to rapidly expand our managed
investment activities," Mr Nichevich said. "We now have the team to
do this and an excellent, solid base of projects on which to build."
Broking house DJ Carmichael recently rated WRF Securities a `buy` on
the strength of its Tasmanian Blue Gum and Paulownia Plantations, and
the potential of the group to rapidly add further projects to
underpin its revenue stream.
The broker predicted that the Kangaroo Island Prospectus would be
filled by 30 May 2001, describing the project as having "sound
financial fundamentals" with low land costs, conservative growth
estimates and additional future potential from ownership of carbon
credits.
It rated the Paulownia Project, at Dandaragan 160 kilometres north of
Perth, as a high-value Project offering rapid growth. The first stage
of this project, a 250 hectare plantation, will be offered to
investors during 2001.
DJ Carmichael predicted that the Dalgaranga Gold Mine would continue
to generate strong cash flow and profits, underpinning WRF
Securities` growth in other areas. It forecast that the project would
deliver approximately 115,000 ounces of gold in 2001, yielding a cash
flow of $11 million and a pre-tax contribution for WRF of $6 million.
That should lift the Perth-based Group to a very strong cash position
of over $11 million by June 2001, equating to 28 cents per share.
