The market is realizing that Deakin is well placed to
capitalize on the need of an increasing number of people seeking to live comfortably in retirement. To achieve this Australians will be looking to address their wealth creation problems by increasing regular contributions to super and gaining professional financial advice, this will in turn will see more money pour in to the equity markets by the fund managers that manage the superannuation money.
In this vain I feel confident the turnaround of listed financial services group DKN is well placed to benefit from the need for all of us to seek a financial planner, address our superannuation, provide adequate insurance protection and look at investments in direct shares, property investments, and look to leverage off our main asset the family home.
Since the chairmans address in October the stock has recovered some of the market cap it lost from its highs of $2.00 when the company was profitable.
The DKN chart has broken its down trend ,created a strong base above 16c and seems in a new uptrend to its next resistance point of 30c,
Dkn has 300 advisers ,large funds under manangement which creates a recurring income and has closed all of its loss making businesses.
Companies like COU,IGP,FSP,OMP all in the same sector are trading at a pe around 25,have similar numbers of advisers and have market caps 20 times that of DKN
At 20c the DKN market cap is 8.5m which seems low for a company in the heart of financial services, with 300 advisers, and now looking to focus on one core business wealth protection and creation.
Speak to your adviser ,and do your own research . This is only my opinion. Read the disclaimers on Hot copper site.

As mentioned in this forum a few times The financial services sector is one of the sectors that will do well as the baby boomer recognizes the need to save for retirement.
At the heart of the sector is DKN which is a distributor of life insurance, superannuation, savings programmes, financial plans and pension products.
Deakin has strong allegiances with Colonial,Tower,Sun Alliance,Challenger,ING,Lumley and Deutsche.
All of whom, get large sales volumes from these allegiances and have been buying distribution over the last few years.
Deakin is independent to any of these product providers allowing its advisers to build funds under advice with the product manafacturer that is most appropriate to varying client needs, and not with who owns the business.
The deakin chairman this week topped up his holding on market by buying 300,000 shares to the value of just over $60000 an average around 20c.
The Deakin Chairman track record is almost 2nd to none in building financial services business from medium sized to very dominant.
Chairman Hunwick was succesful in the late 80s turning clayton robard around under Tyndall when its shares were unloved to see it make big profits see brierley come aboard as a major shareholder and then be taken over by Sun alliance.
Chairman Hunwick then headed the Colonial life insurance business as it grew by acquisitions in the 90s only to see the CBA swallow it.
The 1999/2000 results were very poor and saw the share price retreat from 2.00 to 13c,before the most recent consolidation.
Deakin under its new board and management is definately one to watch in one of the best sectors on the asx.
I hold dkno which expire in 30/6/2002.
