Geradezu euphorisch

Grundsätzlich sollten kanadische Aktien, die an den Börsen von Vancover oder
Alberta gehandelt werden, mit der berühmten Kneifzange angefaßt werden. Denn
häufig handelt es sich um Papiere, in denen viel heiße Luft steckt. Zu den
Ausnahmen scheint Highpoint Telecommunications zu gehören.

Das Kabelnetzunternehmen wurde vor einigen Wochen von dem renommierten
US-Börsenmagazin "Barron`s" positiv analysiert. Der Optimismus wird nun
gerechtfertigt. Denn Highpoint hat mit anderen Gesellschaften zusammen den
Auftrag erhalten, in Europa ein Kabelnetz aufzubauen. Angeführt wird das
Firmenkonsortium von Nortel Networks. Damit sind auch umfangreiche
Dienstleistungen verbunden.

Das hochkarätig besetzte Management gibt sich geradezu euphorisch und
erwartet eine ähnliche Kursentwicklung wie im vergangenen Jahr bei Global
Crossing. Deren Kurs hatte sich verhundertfacht. Für Highpoint spricht auch,
daß wohl noch in der ersten Hälfte dieses Jahres die Tochter North American
Gateway an die Börse gebracht werden soll. Da die Kanadier beabsichtigen, ihre
Aktien sowohl an der amerikanischen Nasdaq als auch hierzulande am Neuen
Markt einführen zu lassen, haben die Börsen in Berlin und München bereits die
Notierung aufgenommen.

Folglich ist der Kauf ein Muss. Bin für kritische Stimmen offen.

Wie schon erwähnt, dies entspricht aktuell einem Abschlag von 35 %.

Hallo Zappercop,

das sind Kan. Dollar (Vancouver). In USD wird die Aktie bei gut 11 USD gehandelt. Also Vorsicht!

Zu der Aktie hab ich noch keine Meinung, aber kann es sein, daß 35% Abschlag dadurch zustande kommen, daß der canadische Dollar vielleicht ein Fitzelchen weniger wert ist als der amerikansiche? Sorry für die Ironie, aber ein wenig Nachdenken hilft manchmal weiter!

Highpoint Announces Financial Results for the Nine Months Ended September 30, 1999

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 25, 1999-- Highpoint(Alberta Stock Exchange:HGP. - news) Highpoint
Telecommunications Inc. (``Highpoint`` or the ``Company``) is pleased to announce its financial results for the nine month period ended September 30, 1999. Total
assets as of September 30, 1999 increased to US$143,351,000 from US$27,707,000 as of December 31, 1998. Revenue for the nine month period ended
September 30, 1999 was US$34,024,000 compared to US$3,788,000 (excluding discontinued operations) for the nine month period ended September 30, 1998.
The net loss for the nine month period ended September 30, 1999 was US$38,623,000 compared to a net loss of US$7,428,000 for the nine month period ended
September 30, 1998.

In October 1999 Highpoint concluded the rationalization of its operations to consolidate its participation in the North American international telecommunications
sector within its majority interest in The North American Gateway Inc. and completed the sale of its other North American and Latin American carrier, satellite, and
equipment operations.

Highpoint is continuing to move forward with its strategy to focus on Europe. In October 1999 Highpoint completed the purchase of a 91% interest in Vine Telecom
Ltd. Vine intends to develop a pan-European, high capacity, fibre optic network. Vine plans to develop its network to cover locations poorly served by existing and
planned networks using the most cost effective technology, right-of-way, and means of securing capacity available for that route. Babcock & Brown Limited, of
London, England, is acting as Vine`s procurement and financial advisor with respect to negotiating the supply contracts and arranging the necessary funding for the
project. Total financing required for completing Phase I is expected to be covered through a combination of debt and equity. Highpoint must provide the equity
portion of this project financing.

As part of the Company`s European initiatives the Company has also consolidated its holdings in Axxon Telecom B.V., a European international telecommunications
service company, to hold 100% of Axxon.

Highpoint is an international telecommunications company with a 51% interest in The North American Gateway Inc., a facilities-based international
telecommunications carrier based in Toronto, Ontario, a 91% interest in Vine Telecom Ltd. which intends to develop a pan-European fiber optic network, and a
100% interest in Axxon Telecom Ltd., which has developed a low cost, city-based telecommunications network in western Europe and is offering international
telephone and value-added telecommunications services.
