DRILLING PROGRESS REPORT, DEL NORTE PROPERTY
Vancouver, BC - The Company is pleased to announce that drilling is continuing at its Del Norte property in Stewart, BC. Drilling was interrupted on several occasions due to equipment breakdown and freezing of waterlines. A heating coil has now been flown into the property to ensure uninterrupted water flow to the drill.
Four holes have been completed, all from a drill pad situated just west of the recently discovered zone from which a surface chip sample returned 0.442 oz/ton gold equivalent over a 10m width. Holes #2002-1 and #2002-2 were drilled easterly, perpendicular to the north-northwest striking zone at dips of 45 and 50 degrees, respectively. Hole #2002-3 was drilled at an azimuth 20 degrees to the north of the first two holes, and at a dip of 45 degrees. All three holes encountered mineralization with the same general description as seen on surface: quartz-feldspar-sulfide replacement zones, veins and quartz-feldspar-sulfide cemented breccia, intimately intercalated with short (10-60cm) intervals of host rocks comprised of argillite, felsite, fine-grained diorite and andesite. Sulfides include pyrite, sphalerite, galena and lesser tetrahedrite; total sulfide content varies widely from trace to 15%. Estimated true widths of the intercepts in the three holes ranges from 10m in the first hole to 6.5m in the third (final determination will have to await complete assay results).
Core from the mineralized interval in Hole #2002-1 has been diamond-sawed and assays are expected to be received in time for announcement early next week.
The drill is currently drilling on the second pad, situated 550m along strike to the north. Hole 2002-5 drilled at this location had to be abandoned short of the target depth due to technical difficulties. A new hole with a steeper inclination is currently in progress.
Management is considering expanding the drilling program beyond the planned third pad, located approximately 250m further along strike from the second. Expansion is contingent upon continuing favourable weather conditions and results from the program to date. Ongoing prospecting has located two additional zones of interest. One consists of quartz sulfide mineralization discovered in place from which grab samples have returned values up to 1.23 oz/ton gold and 29 oz/ton silver; the other consists of abundant angular float boulders ranging up to 0.9 m in dimension carrying up to 25% tetrahedrite (assays pending).
