Pacific Internet Expands Broadband Infrastructure In Philippines
NASDAQ-listed Pacific Internet (PI) has purchased ERX Edge Routers from U.S.-based Unisphere Networks for the regional expansion of its leased-line capacity in the Philippines. It has also contracted the Siemens Information and Communication Networks (ICN) Group to deploy the routers in its IP network.
PI, which has been operating in the Philippines for the past five years, serves a large network of dial-up and corporate leased-line customers, offering both post-paid and pre-paid Internet access under its Speedsurf brand.
"We see Siemens and Unisphere Networks playing a significant role in our efforts to position Pacific Internet as a leading solutions provider in the Philippines and across Asia," said Wilkin Acedera, PI`s assistant vice-president of Network Engineering and Operations.
"After several field trials, we are truly confident with the reliability, scalability and advanced feature set of the ERX that provides us with the ability to deliver innovative IP solutions to our customers."
The ASIC-based architecture of Unisphere`s ERX equipment is said to provide wire-speed performance of IP routing and next-generation broadband services, such as access to streaming media, VPNs and service level agreements (SLAs), while adhering to quality of service (QoS) requirements.
Added Guenther Binder, senior vice-president of Siemens ICN, "Service providers such as Pacific Internet are witnessing a shift in the market as more customers are desiring high-speed Internet access with next-generation broadband services.

The complaint alleges violations of Sections 11, 12(a)(2) and 15 of the Securities Act of 1933 and Section 10(b) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and Rule 10b-5 promulgated thereunder. On or about February 5, 1999, PCNTF commenced an initial public offering of 3 million of its shares of common stock at an offering price of $17.00 per share (the ``IPO``). MELBOURNE, 10 December 2001 - Australians will notice shorter lines at the post office this Christmas with almost two out of three saying they will be sending e-Cards this year. This is the finding of a new survey conducted by Pacific Internet (www.pacific.net.au), a premium Australian ISP and leading provider of high-speed Internet services.
Sending e-Cards is more fun than sending traditional cards and avoids postal delays. The poll found that of those sending e-Cards, half cited `more fun` and one fifth cited `avoiding postal delays` as the reason for send e-Cards.

Dec 28, 2001, (Business Times /FT Information via COMTEX) Power line communications (PLC), a new technology allowing users to access services such as telephony and fast Internet through an adaptor plugged into a standard electrical wall socket, will be offered in commercial trials in Singapore in early 2002. Data is routed through the electrical cables, with the adaptor acting as a modem. PLC has access speeds ranging from 4.5 megabits per second (Mbps) to 45 Mbps. Even at its lowest speed, PLC is around 800% faster than the Magix broadband Internet offered by Singapore Telecommunications, and 80 times faster than an ordinary dialup modem. The new technology will be commercially tested by Singapore Power Ltd`s telecom division, SP Telecom, which will offer the service free to 500 to 1,000 subscribers for three to six months. It has partnered with two Internet service providers Pacific Internet Ltd and Little Green Apples Pte LTd for the venture.

Dec 28, 2001, (Business Times /FT Information via COMTEX) Power line communications (PLC), a new technology allowing users to access services such as telephony and fast Internet through an adaptor plugged into a standard electrical wall socket, will be offered in commercial trials in Singapore in early 2002. Data is routed through the electrical cables, with the adaptor acting as a modem. PLC has access speeds ranging from 4.5 megabits per second (Mbps) to 45 Mbps. Even at its lowest speed, PLC is around 800% faster than the Magix broadband Internet offered by Singapore Telecommunications, and 80 times faster than an ordinary dialup modem. The new technology will be commercially tested by Singapore Power Ltd`s telecom division, SP Telecom, which will offer the service free to 500 to 1,000 subscribers for three to six months. It has partnered with two Internet service providers Pacific Internet Ltd and Little Green Apples Pte LTd for the venture.

Der MACD hat bereits ein Kaufsignal angezeigt, befindet sich aber noch im negativen Bereich.
Die ROC ist steigend und auch das Momentum. Beide Indikatoren haben reichlich Luft nach oben.

Wie geht es nun weiter? PCNTF hat sich in dem Bereich zwischen 3 und 3,50 Euro bei minimalen Umsätzen festgebissen. Die 200-Tage-Linie hat ihre Dynamik verloren und knickt ein.

Bei diesem Wert mit Stopps zu arbeiten, kann aber auch nach hinten los gehen. Der gestrige Tag zeigte es ja deutlich.
Da kauft jemand 2000 Stück zu 3.55 etwa 10 % über dem jetzigen Marktwert. Ein Privatanleger, der schon lange kaufen wollte und nichts bekam, hofft, dass es endlich hoch geht und kauft noch einmal 500 Stück zu 3.65 €. Heute sind wir wieder dort, wo wir die letzten Tage waren, im Irgendwo zwischen 3.0 und 3.50 €. Es müßten wie du schon sagst endlich Umsätze dazu kommen. Doch die hatten wir auch beim letzten Anstieg kaum in diesem Bereich. Viele Aktien wurden bei 4.00 € gehandelt.
So wie die "Rakete" nach oben ging, so kann dass natürlich auch nach unten gehen. Ich hatte vor ein paar Wochen in Berlin 1000 Stück zu 3.05 € bekommen, obwohl an den anderen Boersen der Preis bei 3.40 € lag, und sie ein paar Tage später für 3.80 € wieder verkauft. Hättest du also ein Stopp bei 3.10 gesetzt, dann wären deine Papiere verschleudert worden, wer weiss zu welchen Preis, da ja gegenwärtig auch nur wenige Geld- und Briefkurse eingestellt werden. Da sind noch einmal 10 Prozent Nasse ganz schnell drin.
Im Moment gehen die ISP´s in Asien sowieso ganz schlecht, obwohl die Märkte gut zugelegt haben. Mal ehrlich, wer ein solches Papier wie PCNTF hält, der ist bei einem Allianz-Käufer sowieso ein Zocker; mit oder ohne Stopps.
Was sagt ihr z.B. zu Thailand oder Indonesien? Die Bangkok-Bank stiegt in den letzten paar Tagen von 1.20 € auf 1.70 €. Ist doch auch nicht schlecht und ein "konservativer Wert".

Für mich ist PCNTF auch ein konservtiver Wert. Es kommt halt auf die Fristigkeit an. Ich bin halt Langfristanleger und langfristig wird es PCNTF auch zu etwas bringen .... vielleicht schon ende 2002

seid ihr so schwierig ?
Wie du deinen stop setzt bei 3 euro oder sonst was , ist doch deine sache,aber wenn die Aktie mal dei 75 euro oder so war und ich nie Stops setze und wie Ocke behauptet hat immer wieder zu Spottpreisen eingestiegen ist, na denn , ja da darf ich doch mal fragen oder ?
Es kann sich doch nicht rentieren andauernd fuer diese Aktie zu werben, wenn man seit 75 und vorher schon drin ist ?
Als wenn es sonst nichts auf dem Markt gibt.
Ich denke die Aktie hat so ein geringes Volumen, das es sich lohnt zu puschen , obwohl sie ja schon fast zu klein sind, aber Kleinwieh macht auch mist.
Oder ihr seid blind und habt Angst Gewinne zu machen.
Belehrt mich eines besseren.

Das sind zwei völlig getrennt zu betrachtende Perspektiven. Wer PCNTF als Langfristengagement betracht, ist sehr "gutgläubig", da es ein wirklich "exotischer Wert" ist. Ich würde auf alle Fälle Fonds Einzelengagements vorziehen, denn da brauche ich nicht jeden Tag zu sehen, was die Aktie macht.
Doch wer sich asiatische Internetaktien oder sonst irgend welche spekulative Investments ins Depot legt, der sollte schon jeden Tag nach den Werten sehen und auch einmal die Reißleine ziehen, wenn es zu heftig wird.
PCNTF war in den letzten zwei Jahren neben Korea Thrunet mein bester Wert im Depot auch wenn beide 90 Prozent verloren haben. Ich schaue jeden Tag nach meinen Aktien und halte 10 Prozent Gewinn für recht erträglich.
Wer der hier "Anwesenden" hat denn überhaupt mit PCNTF nur einen Euro plus gemacht???

Pacific Internet 2001 loss narrows
SINGAPORE, Feb 7 (Reuters) - Singapore-based Pacific Internet Ltd said on Thursday its 2001 net loss narrowed to US$8.1
million from $12.1 million as its net revenues grew 29 percent.
For the fourth quarter, the Internet service provider`s net loss shrank to $800,000 from $4.7 million in the same 2000 period. The
company said it was the fifth consecutive quarter of improved operating performance.
``We were able to grow our revenues...narrow our net loss and improve our cash position. We continued to deliver improving financial results in each consecutive
quarter,`` chairman Ko Kheng Hwa said in a statement.
U.S.-listed Pacific Internet, a unit of Singapore conglomerate SembCorp Industries Ltd , said it aimed to return to profitability by the third quarter of 2002 on the
back of the steady improvement.
The forecast of a return to profitability was one quarter earlier than its previous estimate.
Pacific Internet said it would concentrate on broadband services, expanding its corporate market and growing its regional businesses.
Its shares closed at US$2.79 in New York on Wednesday.

Net Revenues Increased
Net revenues for the fourth quarter grew to US$20.6 million, an increase of 31% from US$15.7 million in the same period last year. For FY2001, net revenues grew to US$76.4 million, up 29% from US$59.2 million in FY2000. Revenues from broadband and leased lines were the main contributors to this increase.
EBITDA Increased
Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) for the fourth quarter were US$2.3 million, a 304% increase from US$0.5 million in the same period last year. This quarter represents the fifth consecutive quarter of positive EBITDA for Pacific Internet. For FY2001, EBITDA was US$6.8 million, up by 514% from US$1.1 million in FY2000.
Net Loss Narrowed
Net loss for the fourth quarter narrowed to US$0.8 million or US$0.06 per share, a decrease of 84% from US$4.7 million in the same period last year. This quarter represents the fifth consecutive quarter of improving net income. For FY2001, net loss narrowed 33% to US$8.1 million or US$0.63 per share, from a net loss of US$12.1 million in FY2000.
Cash Position Strengthened
At year end, cash and cash equivalents stood at US$13.0 million, up 31% from US$9.9 million at the beginning of the year. The strengthened cash position is attributed to the achievement of operational efficiencies and positive EBITDA each quarter.
Continued financial momentum
"Year 2001 was a very challenging year. The regional and global economic slowdown was made worse by the tragic events of September 11. Despite this, the Company achieved significant improvement in our results in 2001 compared to the previous year. We were able to grow our revenues, increase EBITDA, narrow our net loss and improve our cash position. We continued to deliver improving financial results in each consecutive quarter," said Mr. Ko Kheng Hwa, Chairman of Pacific Internet.
"With the Company`s focused strategies and the financial momentum in the past five quarters, we are aiming to return to profitability by the third quarter of 2002, which is one quarter earlier than the previous estimate, barring unforseen developments," added Mr. Ko.
Increased contribution from subsidiaries
Pacific Internet`s subsidiaries contributed about 50% to the Group`s revenues, up from 39% in FY2000.
"We have been able to double our revenues as a result of our expansion into the region since 1996. Our regional footprint is our growth engine and our competitive advantage over local ISPs," said Mr. Tan Tong Hai, President and Chief Executive Officer of Pacific Internet.

Growth in Broadband Market
In line with the Group`s strategy to focus on the broadband market, broadband subscribers grew by 580% to 17,000 in FY2001, up from 2,500 in FY2000. Consumer broadband subscribers grew to 12,000 in FY2001, up by 650% from 1,600 in the previous year. Dial-up subscribers declined by 4% in FY2001 due to the clean-up of non-paying retail customers and the migration of dial-up customers to broadband.
Growth in Corporate Market
As a result of continued focus on corporate business in FY2001, revenues from the corporate sector have increased by 50% over the previous year. Corporate broadband subscribers grew to 5,000 in FY2001, a 456% increase from 900 in FY2000.

Asia`s leading Internet service provider (ISP), Pacific Internet Limited (NASDAQ: PCNTF), today announced its financial results for the fourth quarter and the full year ended December 31, 2001.

Net Revenues Increased
Net revenues for the fourth quarter grew to US$20.6 million, an increase of 31% from US$15.7 million in the same period last year. For FY2001, net revenues grew to US$76.4 million, up 29% from US$59.2 million in FY2000. Revenues from broadband and leased lines were the main contributors to this increase.
EBITDA Increased
Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) for the fourth quarter were US$2.3 million, a 304% increase from US$0.5 million in the same period last year. This quarter represents the fifth consecutive quarter of positive EBITDA for Pacific Internet. For FY2001, EBITDA was US$6.8 million, up by 514% from US$1.1 million in FY2000.
Net Loss Narrowed
Net loss for the fourth quarter narrowed to US$0.8 million or US$0.06 per share, a decrease of 84% from US$4.7 million in the same period last year. This quarter represents the fifth consecutive quarter of improving net income. For FY2001, net loss narrowed 33% to US$8.1 million or US$0.63 per share, from a net loss of US$12.1 million in FY2000.
Cash Position Strengthened
At year end, cash and cash equivalents stood at US$13.0 million, up 31% from US$9.9 million at the beginning of the year. The strengthened cash position is attributed to the achievement of operational efficiencies and positive EBITDA each quarter.
Continued financial momentum
"Year 2001 was a very challenging year. The regional and global economic slowdown was made worse by the tragic events of September 11. Despite this, the Company achieved significant improvement in our results in 2001 compared to the previous year. We were able to grow our revenues, increase EBITDA, narrow our net loss and improve our cash position. We continued to deliver improving financial results in each consecutive quarter," said Mr. Ko Kheng Hwa, Chairman of Pacific Internet.
"With the Company`s focused strategies and the financial momentum in the past five quarters, we are aiming to return to profitability by the third quarter of 2002, which is one quarter earlier than the previous estimate, barring unforseen developments," added Mr. Ko.
Increased contribution from subsidiaries
Pacific Internet`s subsidiaries contributed about 50% to the Group`s revenues, up from 39% in FY2000.
"We have been able to double our revenues as a result of our expansion into the region since 1996. Our regional footprint is our growth engine and our competitive advantage over local ISPs," said Mr. Tan Tong Hai, President and Chief Executive Officer of Pacific Internet.

Growth in Broadband Market
In line with the Group`s strategy to focus on the broadband market, broadband subscribers grew by 580% to 17,000 in FY2001, up from 2,500 in FY2000. Consumer broadband subscribers grew to 12,000 in FY2001, up by 650% from 1,600 in the previous year. Dial-up subscribers declined by 4% in FY2001 due to the clean-up of non-paying retail customers and the migration of dial-up customers to broadband.
Growth in Corporate Market
As a result of continued focus on corporate business in FY2001, revenues from the corporate sector have increased by 50% over the previous year. Corporate broadband subscribers grew to 5,000 in FY2001, a 456% increase from 900 in FY2000.

high-speed Internet services.
For the full year, PacNet said its loss narrowed to $8.1 million, from $12.1 million in 2000. Sales rose 29
percent to $76.4 million, from $59.2 million a year ago.
PacNet expects ``to return to profitability in the third quarter of 2002, which is one quarter earlier than the

An improvement in PacNet`s earnings may help the company expand its business. PacNet has been trying to

Ich rate dazu erst oberhalb von Kursen über 10 € zu kaufen. Dann dürfte die Gefahr ausgeschlossen sein, daß die Aktie noch einmal auf 2,50 € abrutscht.

Will mal hoffen, daß die Expansion nicht auf Kosten des Gewinns geht. Die Aktie könnte das momenstan schlecht verkraften, da erst mal die Gewinnzone erreicht werden muß, will man weiterhin glaubhaft bleiben.

S`pore Power arm to launch commercial trials of new communications technology

(SINGAPORE) Singapore is all set to be the first country in the Asia-Pacific, including Japan, to commercially try out a new breakthrough in communications technology.
By channelling data traffic through the existing network of electrical cables and wires, the technology will allow users to simply plug into their electrical wall sockets to access services such as fast Internet and telephony.
All they need is basically an adaptor - which also functions as a modem - to plug into a power socket. The technology also offers an alternative to home networking without having to undertake messy rewiring.
The commercial trials for what is called PLC, or power line communications, will begin early next year and will be conducted by SP Telecom, the telecom arm of Singapore Power Ltd.
SP Telecom has selected two Internet service providers (ISPs) as its technology partners - Little Green Apples Pte Ltd and Pacific Internet Ltd.
The commercial trial will last three to six months and will target about 500 to 1,000 users and offer Internet access and telephony. Services during the trial period will be free.
The technology offers access speeds of 4.5 to 45 Mbps (megabits per second). At 4.5 Mbps, the technology is about nine times faster than SingTel`s Magix broadband Internet service, and a whopping 80 times faster than a standard dial-up modem.
`We`re targetting an equal mix of private residential users and industrial parks for this trial service,` Yew Hock Meng, chief operating officer of Little Green Apples, told BT.
SP Telecom`s general manager for development and operations, Teo Heng Lam, told BT: `Pricing details will be worked out soon after the trials are completed and we get enough consumer feedback on the commercial viability and acceptance of the service.`
PacNet`s managing director, Ong Teck Guan, said it was premature to detail cost structures and service pricing at this point.
SP Telecom plans to follow a business model in which it will not compete head on with the incumbent telcos and ISPs here. It will instead lease out its infrastructure facilities.
`We aim to be the dial-tone utility in the industry,` said Boey Tak Hap, president and CEO of SingPower.
Under the lease model, telcos and other carriers will buy wholesale broadband capacity on the PLC network. SP Telecom will, in effect, become the carrier`s carrier. Existing customer relationships will therefore still be owned by the respective ISPs and telcos.
`We`re an absolutely neutral traffic carrier for service providers, and will help them get access to the last mile,` SP Telecom`s Mr Teo said.
`We believe in the broadband world. There is room for an alternative technology to provide access, besides the phone line.`
Carrying data traffic over existing electricity networks offers several benefits: The electricity grid is one of the largest in the world. It exceeds both the phone and data networks in terms of reach to households, especially in the under-developed parts of Asia. The power network solves the `last mile` problem of providing access to the home or office without expensive digging and laying of new cable. The power network addresses the problem of moving the access point within the house, since there are typically many more power sockets than phone sockets.
In a nutshell, this is how the PLC technology works: data traffic is taken from the Internet backbone and injected into the powergrid at the power sub-station, which serves the local power needs of a group of buildings. The data is then carried through the power cables to the buildings and distributed to individual households and offices.
SingPower started technical feasibility trials of the technology from November 2000 at the Singapore Polytechnic. The trials ended this month. Speeds of between 800 kbps and 2.25 Mbps were achieved and services tested were Internet access and Voice over Internet Protocol, a telephony technology. The trial involved 20 residential users in the staff housing on polytechnic`s campus and two user points at the polytechnic`s library.
But will the new services be cheaper than existing ones such as broadband phone and cable modems? `Put it this way, if the price of our services prove uncompetitive, we won`t even consider pushing them out in the first place,` Mr Teo said.
When commercially launched, Singapore`s PLC service will follow similar efforts in Canada (by Powernet Communications Tega), Sweden (by Birka Energi), Germany (by MVV and RWE), and Switzerland (by Freiburgischen Elektrizitatswerken).

Schafft PCNTF nun die 3.25 €? In Amerika liegen wir ja schon längst drüber (bis 3.35 € gehandelt). Keine Käufer da, sind wohl alle vom jüngsten Abwärtstrend gehemmt. Also besser verkaufen, wenn man das ganze antizyklisch sieht.
Ich verkaufe nicht vor 30€ .... und das mache ich in zwei Jahren

Bist du da schon im grünen Bereich? Anfang des letzten Jahres waren wir noch über 5 Euro.
Richtig, die ersten habe ich so bei 7€ gekauft. Im Durchschnitt liege ich bei 3€ und nun hoffe ich auf eine positive Entwicklung - eigentlich bin ich guter dinge
Tja hoffen, des es nach oben geht ist eine Sache. Die lineare Steigerung, die uns Reiners vor Monaten aufgezeichnet hat, ist wohl nicht eingetreten.
Was mir zur Zeit gar nicht gefällt ist die Lustlosigkeit im Handel. Die Käufer sind sich nicht sicher und steigen nicht ein und nur ein paar Kurzfristanleger, die trotz des zurückgekommenen Kurse nicht bestätitgt wurden, kaufen sich in andere gefallene Aktien ein, um dort von Rückschlägen zu profitieren. Sollten also einmal negative Meldungen zu PacNet bekannt werden, dann rutscht der Wert schnell mal um 30 Prozent ab. Nach Oben ist zur Zeit voller Stau.
Was mir zur Zeit gar nicht gefällt ist die Lustlosigkeit im Handel. Die Käufer sind sich nicht sicher und steigen nicht ein und nur ein paar Kurzfristanleger, die trotz des zurückgekommenen Kurse nicht bestätitgt wurden, kaufen sich in andere gefallene Aktien ein, um dort von Rückschlägen zu profitieren. Wir können heute nicht mehr erwarten, daß die Internet-Wert auf Grund von
"Aussichten" und "Erwartungen" ihren Wert steigern können. Diese Zeit haben
wir hinter uns, sie wird nicht wieder kommen, der "Hype" ist vorbei.
Deshalb müssen wir warten, bis schwarze Zahlen vorgelegt werden können. Dann
erst, so meine Einschätzung, wird das Analysten-Pack sich bemühen und mal die Zahlen
auswerten.
Dann allerdings, spätestens dann, kann es neben dem kontinuierlich steigendem Gewinnwachstum
von PacNet den einen oder anderen Analysten dazu bewegen, auch daß das zukünftige Wachstum
in den Aktienkurs mit ein zu beziehen.
Dieses Szenario wird mit Sicherheit eintreten, spätestens Ende des Jahres.
Ich gehe nach wie vor davon aus, daß die von Reiners vorgelegte Steigerung viel
zu konserativ ist, wenn der Aktienkurs auch momentan nicht unbedingt im Plan liegt.
Am Tag X wird der Kurs von vielen unerwartet nach oben schießen und nicht mehr
nach unten zurück kommen. Und das wird erst der Anfang sein. Dann werden viele
den heutigen Kursen nachheulen aber dann ist es zu spät.
Gleichfalls gebe ich zu bedenken, daß der Kurs unter sehr schwachen Umsätzen vor
sich hin dümpelt. Ich hatte Schwierigkeiten, in Frankfurt 1000 Stück für 3,05 zu bekommen.
Ich mußte das Kilo in 3 Tranchen zusammenkratzen.
Ihr könnt ruhig den Kopf schütteln, aber ich habe mein Depot mit Pacnet übergewichtet.
Ich stehe zu PacNet.
Deshalb lieber Reiners, bitte ich Dich, nochmal die Gewinnschätzungen für die kommenden
Jahre aus der PacNet-Analyse, sowie Deine lineare Gewinnschätzung in den Thread zu
