Extends Service Level Management to Include Detailed Transaction Metrics
Fremont, CA. January 22, 2002- FORTEL Inc. (OTC BB: FRTL) today announced the availability of a Tuxedo™ Interface Agent that extends the SightLine™ software suite to incorporate transaction metrics from the BEA Tuxedo online transaction processing (OLTP) monitor platform. The Tuxedo Interface Agent is the first in a series of upcoming enhancements (see announcement: "FORTEL SightLine Improvements Boost Transaction Performance Management and Reduce Total Cost of Ownership") and expands SightLine’s category leading service level management capabilities to Tuxedo users in transaction-oriented industries such as retail, finance, e-commerce and travel.

The detailed monitoring and analysis of transaction rates and response times are critical to determining the health of applications and services. SightLine Interface Agents are specifically designed to collect information from 3rd party management tools. With the addition of the Tuxedo Interface Agent, FORTEL is enabling a higher level of business transaction service level management, giving customers a way to maximize the opportunities presented by eBusiness.

The new Tuxedo Interface Agent provides a method for collecting essential performance metrics from a Tuxedo transaction-oriented system creating a simpler and more efficient method of recording and monitoring transactions. The transactional information gathered can then be included with the resource-oriented SightLine metrics to present a complete, edge-to-edge analysis of the business infrastructure’s health. The transaction metrics collected include transaction frequencies and response times. By including transaction information, SightLine customers will be able to identify the cause-effect relationships between transaction activity, resource activity and service levels.
