      Hallo!

      Sounds great folks!

US$2.63bn, & TSE: NRD, Market Cap. C$4.1bn)

Die Umsätze müssen erst explodieren und dann weisst Du wo es hingeht - up or down!

NEWS RELEASE TRANSMITTED BY CCNMatthewsFOR : Donner Minerals Ltd.TSX SYMBOL: DMLOTC Bulletin Board SYMBOL: DNNMFFRANKFURT SYMBOL: DNLAugust 16, 2002Donner Minerals Ltd.: South Voisey Bay UpdateVANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--Mr. Harvey Keats, President of Donner MineralsLtd., provides the following progress report on the ongoing drill program atthe South Voisey Bay Project. To date, four drill holes have been completedand a fifth is currently underway. The Company has only received assays forthe first hole and higher priority assays for the second hole. Summary assaytables are attached to this news release. The first hole (SVB-02-137) was drilled in a large high conductance UTEManomaly. The second hole (SVB-02-138) was a 500 metre step-out to thesoutheast along the conductor axis. The third hole (SVB-02-139) was a 350metre step-out to the northeast of SVB-02-137. SVB-02-137 was drilled to atotal depth of 435.0 metres and intersected the base of the gabbro at 405.35metres. SVB-02-138 was drilled to a total depth of 327.0 metres andintersected the base of the gabbro at 271.35 metres. SVB-02-139 was drilled toa total depth of 501.0 metres and intersected the base of the gabbro at 470.9metres.Both of the first two holes encountered significant, but sub-economicsulphides. The best grade in SVB-02-137 is 0.84% nickel, 0.51% copper and0.51% cobalt over 0.84 metres in massive sulphides hosted by gabbro. The bestgrade in SVB-02-138 is 1.37% nickel, 0.64% copper and 0.16% cobalt over 0.77metres in massive sulphide hosted by gneiss. However, it is encouraging tonote that in SVB-02-137 there is an obvious increase in nickel tenor (nickelre-calculated to 100% sulphides) in the samples with less than 15% sulphide. The eleven metres of disseminated sulphides overlying the semi-massive andmassive sulphides encountered in SVB-02-137 has a nickel tenor ranging from2.14% to 3.84%, with an average nickel tenor of 2.92% over 11.33 metres. Thepresence of higher nickel tenor has encouraging implications for the prospectof finding higher grade sulphides on the South Voisey Bay Project. Assays havenot yet been received for all of the sulphide zones in the second hole,SVB-02-138. Hole SVB-02-139 encountered sulphides at the base of the gabbroand in the underlying gneiss similar to holes SVB-02-137 and SVB-02-138. Assays for hole SVB-02-139 have not yet been received.SVB-02-140, located 1 km southwest of SVB-02-138, was drilled in a separateUTEM conductor to a total depth of 288.0 metres and intersected the base of thegabbro at 266.0 metres. Hole SVB-02-140 encountered sulphides at the base ofthe gabbro and in the underlying gneiss similar to holes SVB-02-137 andSVB-02-138. Assays for hole SVB-02-140 have not yet been received. SVB-02-141, currently in progress, is located 400 metres southwest ofSVB-02-140.The sulphides encountered in holes SVB-02-137 and SVB-02-138 is sufficient toexplain the high conductance measured by UTEM on surface. However, the UTEMsurvey is currently unable to distinguish greater thicknesses of semi-massiveand massive sulphides from the high conductance sulphides encountered in theholes.Importantly, the UTEM survey has demonstrated its ability to detect highconductance sulphides up to a depth of 470 metres below surface and is able todistinguish the sulphides encountered in holes SVB-02-137 and SVB-02-138 fromthe low percentage sulphides commonly occurring at the base of the gabbros. The survey is also able to distinguish graphite from the high conductancesulphides in the gabbros and in the gneisses.Overcoming these technical difficulties has led to the ability to focusdrilling on high conductance targets and avoid drilling graphite in gneiss andlow percentage sulphides at the base of gabbros, common throughout theproperty. The Company and Falconbridge are confident that this approach oftargeting high conductance sulphides is the most effective way to search forany economic sulphides on the South Voisey Bay Project. The 2002 exploration program is being carried out and funded by FalconbridgeLimited under an agreement whereby Falconbridge can earn a 50% interest in theSouth Voisey Bay Project. All holes drilled to date have been drilled on the South Gabbro on SVB NickelCompany Ltd. The ownership of SVBN is as follows: DonnerMinerals Ltd. 76.69%; Cypress Development Corp. 11.36%; NDT Ventures Ltd.6.55%; UC Resources Ltd. 5.40%.In addition to the above, geology and geophysics have been carried out on jointventure ground held by Donner/Northern Abitibi Mining Corp., Donner/CommanderResources Ltd. and SVBN/Pallaum Minerals Ltd.ON BEHALF OF THE BOARD OF DONNER MINERALS LTD.Harvey Keats, President/T/ Drill Hole SVB-02-137---------------------------------------------------------------------- Mineral- NickelFrom To Interval ization Rock Ni Cu Co S in 100% (m) (m) (m) Type % % % % Sulphides----------------------------------------------------------------------387.00 388.53 1.53 3% sulphide Ol Gabbro 0.11 0.05 0.01 1.11 3.15388.53 390.00 1.47 5% sulphide Ol Gabbro 0.19 0.09 0.02 1.95 3.38390.00 391.52 1.52 2-6% sulphide Ol Gabbro 0.26 0.19 0.02 2.37 3.84391.52 393.00 1.48 4% sulphide Ol Gabbro 0.16 0.09 0.01 1.67 3.18393.00 394.48 1.48 4% sulphide Gabbro 0.17 0.12 0.01 1.85 3.15394.48 396.00 1.52 2-5% sulphide Gabbro 0.20 0.15 0.02 2.46 2.88396.00 397.47 1.47 4% sulphides Gabbro 0.16 0.12 0.02 2.39 2.25397.47 399.00 1.53 10% sulphide Gabbro 0.26 0.23 0.02 3.81 2.47399.00 399.86 0.86 10% sulphide Gabbro 0.24 0.19 0.03 3.87 2.14399.86 400.71 0.85 30% sulphide Gabbro 0.42 0.27 0.07 11.37 1.43400.71 401.53 0.82 60% sulphide Gabbro 0.62 0.37 0.10 23.72 1.02401.53 402.29 0.76 20% sulphide Gabbro 0.16 0.39 0.03 6.32 0.89402.29 402.75 0.46 85% sulphide Gabbro 0.85 0.46 0.12 29.30 1.12402.75 403.62 0.87 25% sulphide Gabbro 0.35 0.24 0.06 13.35 1.03403.62 404.50 0.88 30% sulphide Gabbro 0.42 0.34 0.08 16.98 0.96404.50 405.34 0.84 80% sulphide Gabbro 0.84 0.51 0.13 27.73 1.17---------------------------------------------------------------------- Drill Hole SVB-02-138 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Mineral- NickelFrom To Interval ization Rock Ni Cu Co S in 100% (m) (m) (m) Type % % % % Sulphides----------------------------------------------------------------------251.00 264.52 13.52 2-5% sulphide Ol Gabbro ASSAYS PENDING 264.52 264.80 0.28 75% sulphide Ol Gabbro 0.98 0.19 0.13 27.01 1.41264.80 270.37 5.57 3-7% sulphide Ol Gabbro ASSAYS PENDING 270.37 270.87 0.50 20% sulphide Ol Gabbro 0.49 0.32 0.06 8.86 2.13270.87 271.62 0.75 4% sulphide Gabbro ASSAYS PENDING 271.62 272.55 0.93 20% sulphide Gneiss 0.20 0.24 0.03 7.01 1.08272.55 273.10 0.55 50% sulphide Gneiss 0.60 0.53 0.09 20.55 1.14273.10 282.79 9.69 2-10% sulphide Gneiss ASSAYS PENDING 297.74 298.51 0.77 98% sulphide Gneiss 1.37 0.64 0.16 34.79 1.53----------------------------------------------------------------------/T/- 30 -FOR FURTHER INformATION PLEASE CONTACT :Donner Minerals Ltd.Harvey KeatsPresidentPhone: (604) 683-0564 or Toll Free: 1-800-909-8311Fax: (604) 602-9311Email: donner@bed-rock.comWebsite: www.donner-minerals.comThe TSX Venture exchange has not reviewed and does not accept responsibilityfor the adequacy or accuracy of this releaseINDUSTRY : CGLSUBJECT : MEX

The CapeRay Property, consisting of 46 claims, is an advanced stage exploration projectwith several showings, prospects, zones and deposits related to the Cape RayFault Zone. The Cape Ray Fault Zone, a complex reverse-oblique fault zone, hosts the CapeRay gold deposit, in which gold occurs mainly in galena and chalcopyrite-rich,fault-fill, quartz breccia veins, hosted by graphitic schists. Elsewhere alongthe fault zone, significant mineralized zones occur in pyrite-rich, fault-fill,quartz breccia veins; in extensional, subhorizontal quartz veins hosted bygranite; and as fault-fill quartz veins and strongly pyritized iron-richsedimentary rocks. The development and geometry of the auriferous zones werecontrolled by a combination of lithological and structural factors includingchemical traps such as graphitic schist and iron-rich sedimentary rocks, competence contrast and reverse-oblique ductile shear zones. The goldmineralization along the Cape Ray Fault Zone is the product of terranecollision and associated metamorphism and magmatism. The Company is currently compiling all geological information into a digitaldatabase in order to properly model the deposits, zones, prospects and showingsand to identify additional targets for a future drill program. In order to earn the 100% interest, the Company will be required to pay a totalof $420,000, to issue common shares with a total value of $580,000, to incurexploration expenditures of $1,900,000, and to carry out a feasibility study.
