Pacific Internet and Palestar Launch DarkSpace in Singapore
Pacific Internet and Palestar Launch DarkSpace in Singapore
DarkSpace is Asia’s first 3D massively multi-player online space strategy game
Singapore, 28 November 2002 – Asia’s largest independent Internet service provider by geographic reach, Pacific Internet Limited (NASDAQ: PCNTF), and Palestar Inc., an Austin-based game studio, today announced a partnership to extend DarkSpace, a popular massively multiplayer online game, to Asia. With this partnership, Pacific Internet will be the first to offer a 3D sci-fi massively multiplayer online space strategy game in the region.
The companies made this announcement at the commercial launch of DarkSpace on Pacific Internet’s Pan Asia Gaming Network (paGn - http://pagn.net), Asia’s leading online gaming platform, in conjunction with the opening of SITEX 2002, a consumer IT Lifestyle event in Singapore.
The partnership enables Pacific Internet to publish DarkSpace exclusively in selected countries in Asia, providing hosting and overall management of the game and community on paGn. Palestar will provide backend support, including software development to facilitate the management of this game.
Mr Lim Han Chuan, Manager of Games, Content and Community at Pacific Internet said, “This is a game which will appeal to all Asian gamers looking for a thrilling and challenging gaming experience. The genre is exciting and it fits the growing trend of gamers going into strategy-based content. We are confident that it will excite the gaming community here.”
DarkSpace
DarkSpace takes place in a turbulent universe of political battles, economic sanctions and diplomatic posturing. In the midst of turmoil and civil unrest, players start as an ensign, piloting smaller craft and will eventually work their way up to a fleet admiral controlling a capital ship and plotting maneuvers in one of the three initial factions.
Hundreds of players will join together online in a fast paced struggle for mankind`s destiny. Individual mission goals will vary and successful completion of objectives will alter the galaxy toward a faction`s favor. The galaxy is designed to be altered directly by concerted player effort. By cooperating within a faction or group, players will achieve scenario objectives and push back rival factions. Random events are possible and will definitely require player cooperation to save the chosen faction from destruction.
The ship a player chooses determines his role in the Universe. The scout helps lift the fog of war, while the battle cruiser takes on the enemy. Transports carry troops for planetary invasions and the engineering ship builds defense bases and sensor stations.
The DarkSpace universe is alive with many new and different subplots. Humans are the dominant species of each beginning scenario, but more advanced scenarios will feature diverse alien races and advanced technologies. Numerous neutral characters will focus on their own agenda in this seemingly crowded galaxy and players will be forced to deal with the circumstances that this creates.
“Pacific Internet, with its excellent Internet access and regional hosting infrastructure, coupled with its direct relationship with consumers, is well poised to capitalize on the potential of online gaming. We have the experience to work with service providers and developers to provide a complete gaming solution,” added Mr Lim Han Chuan.
Mr Richard Lyle, President of Palestar, the developers of DarkSpace, said, "We are excited to work with Pacific Internet as our partner to bring DarkSpace to Asia. They are the perfect partner with their extensive network and knowledge. We are very happy to extend DarkSpace into Asia and be the first massively multiplayer space game available."

Pacific Internet Launches Chinese version of El Kardian Online Game in Hong Kong and Macau
Kick-off effort to establish more MMOG titles and new markets via partnerships
SINGAPORE, 18 December 2002 – Pacific Internet Limited (NASDAQ: PCNTF), Asia’s largest independent Internet service provider by geographic reach, extends its online gaming reach to Hong Kong and Macau with the launch of the Chinese version of its popular massively multiplayer online game (MMOG), El Kardian. This followed El Kardian’s commercial debut in Singapore earlier this year and is the first time Pacific Internet has released the game outside of Singapore.
Marketing and Distribution
Pacific Internet has sealed a partnership with Hong Kong-based game publisher, GameNet (Asia) Company Limited, to market and distribute the game in Hong Kong and Macau. Pacific Supernet, the Hong Kong subsidiary of Pacific Internet Limited, will also make the game available via bundled consumer broadband access offerings.
Pacific Internet Singapore’s managing director, Mr Ong Teck Guan said, “The launch of El Kardian in Hong Kong is just the first step to expand our gaming business outside of Singapore.

Broadband access revenue grew to US$7.3 million, up 79.7% over the same quarter last year and up 14.5% sequentially over the previous quarter. The general trend for dial-up and leased line revenues continued to decline with the gradual migration of customers from these segments to broadband. With the increase in corporate customers in Singapore and Malaysia, there was a 6.7% increase in leased line revenue from the previous quarter.
Growth in Net Income
Despite the challenging business environment, Pacific Internet continued its trend of returning profits in every quarter in 2002. In the fourth quarter of 2002, net income was US$0.5 million, or US$0.04 per share. Compared with the same quarter of 2001, the improvement was US$1.3 million. Full-year net income was US$1.7 million, compared with net loss of US$8.6 million last year. The improvement can be attributed to revenue growth as well as careful management of expenses and the significant improvement in the unconsolidated affiliates, India and Thailand where the total losses have more than halved in 2002.
Growth in Cash
In the fourth quarter of 2002, cash generated from operations was US$6.0 million, with US$2.4 million utilized for capital expenditure and repayment of borrowings and capital leases, leaving a net cash surplus of US$3.6 million.
In the full-year 2002, cash generated from operations was US$13.0 million with US$6.6 million utilized for capital expenditure and repayment of borrowings and capital leases, leading to a net cash surplus of US$6.4 million. Cash balance stood at US$20.3 million as at December 31, 2002.

Continued Broadband Segment Growth
Broadband remains the fastest growing segment with revenue growth of 132.3% in 2002, making it the second largest revenue contributor at 26.5% of total revenues after dial-up revenue. Broadband subscribers have also grown significantly at 118.2% increase from 2001, largely from Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia. Besides these three markets, Pacific Internet has also introduced broadband service into two other markets in 2002 -- Philippines and Thailand.
Focus on Corporate Market
Corporate revenue grew 15.5% to US$52.5 million, constituting 58.0% of total revenue as compared with 55.9% in 2001. Main contributors to this growth were the significant increase in corporate broadband in Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia, and the increase in regional corporate businesses.
Emphasis on regional corporate business has also helped to maintain the overall margin and continue to drive revenue growth. Pacific Internet entered the Malaysian market in 2002, thereby enlarging the regional footprint and serving the regional clients better. Efforts in regional corporate business have yielded some results with the clinching of several regional corporate customers including Eagle Global Logistics and Rohm & Haas.
President and CEO Tan Tong Hai commented, "Our focus on growing the corporate customer business has proven to be a sound decision, as our corporate customer revenue has grown to be more than half of the total revenue. More importantly, it has contributed strongly to our profitability in 2002."
Beyond Access Revenues
Access revenues from dial-up, broadband and leased lines constituted 80.2% of total revenues in 2002, with non-access revenues from value-added services, commission and others constituting the remaining 19.8%. In 2002, access revenues grew 9.5% while non-access revenues grew 19.0%. Amongst the non-access revenues, revenue from value-added services has the most significant growth at 25.3%. Value-added services include amongst others, global roaming, web-hosting, anti-virus and managed data services.
In 2002, Pacific Internet introduced several new services including corporate VoIP (Voice-Over-Internet Protocol) service, managed firewall service, anti-virus solutions and others. In 2003, Pacific Internet will focus on complementary value-added services that will help businesses to use the Internet more effectively.
"Our next growth area will be helping our corporate customers leverage the Internet connectivity that they already have, by providing solutions such as Voice over IP that has the potential to reduce communications cost significantly. Examples of other solutions being offered are Virtual Private Networks and security services. These regional solutions can only be offered with a reliable and efficient regional network," said Tan Tong Hai.

Revenue Growth
Revenues in this quarter were US$23.0 million, a 4.9% increase compared with the same quarter last year. Full-year revenues grew 11.3% to US$90.5 million, up from US$81.3 million a year ago. Strong broadband growth in Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia as well as increase in corporate customers were the main contributors to the increase.

These regional solutions can only be offered with a reliable and efficient regional network," said Tan Tong Hai.

of 2001.
* Net income grew to US$0.5 million, or US$0.04 per share, a

Ko Kheng Hwa, Chairman of Pacific Internet Limited, said, "We have delivered our fourth consecutive quarter of net profits and returned Pacific Internet to full-year profitability in 2002. We have exceeded the profit target of US$1.5 million that we made in the earlier half of 2002. During the year, while we focused on returning the company to full-year profitability, we have also strengthened our position for future growth.

* Net income grew to US$1.7 million, or US$0.13 per share,

US$8.6 million, or US$(0.67) per share in 2001.
* Net cash surplus grew to US$6.4 million, up from US$3.3 million in 2001.
Highlights of Fourth Quarter 2002 Results
* Revenues grew to US$23.0 million, a 4.9% increase over the same quarter
of 2001.
* Net income grew to US$0.5 million, or US$0.04 per share, a
US$1.3 million improvement compared with a net loss of US$0.8 million,

previous quarter.
Moving forward, we will pursue both profitability and growth objectives through our strategies in broadband, corporate customers, value-added services, deepening penetration in our existing markets and exploring new opportunities in high-growth markets in Asia."

Verkaufen und in Cash gehen, dann schauen, was passiert.

@coke,

Blicke ertragen.
@Coke

Durchschnitt.
Was für die Aktie spricht ist:
1)hervorragendes Produkt
Was meint Ihr dazu?

Gewinn will H & W 1,5 Mio Euro in 2003 machen.

@Reiners

@JorgeP.

Was passiert jetzt?

@dienachteule,
Bleibt Pacnet intresannt.

Pacific Internet Implements VoIP Across Regional Offices
Friday April 25, 6:05 am ET
PacNet`s Internal Tests Showed 30% Savings on International Calls
SINGAPORE, April 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Asia`s largest telco- independent Internet service provider by geographic reach, Pacific Internet Limited (Nasdaq: PCNTF - News), today announced more than 30 per cent cost savings in international calling charges following a successful year-long internal trial of its voice-over-Internet solution, PacNet Voice, across its regional offices. The trial had served as a test-bed for the company`s corporate VoIP solution before its impending rollout this year.
Mr Tan Tong Hai, President and CEO, Pacific Internet Limited, said that the trial was a planned platform to test its new solution in a regional corporate environment. The aim was to roll out a solution that met the stringent requirements of the company, thereby ensuring that customers achieve the best cost and productivity efficiencies.
Mr Tan, said, "As Asia`s leading regional ISP, we are the ideal test-bed for PacNet Voice. Our operations mirror the international communications demands of multi-country organizations, with a need to communicate often at various levels."
"As we put it in PacNet, we use what we sell and we sell what we use. It is important that we are fully satisfied with the deliverables of this service, especially uptime, quality and cost savings. They are the basis of our promise to our customers," added Mr Tan.
PacNet Voice Internal Implementation
Over the past 12 months, Pacific Internet has successfully transformed its telephony system into a flexible, cost effective VoIP-enabled system.
The system was implemented by installing voice gateway equipment in the relevant offices, with Singapore acting as the VoIP hub that voice packets transit. A PacNet Voice user only needs to dial a pre-programmed prefix on the existing PABX system followed by the overseas destination number and the call will be routed automatically through the Group`s own network.
As part of its test, the company had encouraged its management staff in the headquarters and regional operations to dial international calls to other offices via PacNet Voice to leverage cost savings and efficiencies of IP telephony.
Leveraging PacNet Voice Key Differentiator for Achieving Cost and Productivity Benefits
The unique proposition of PacNet Voice is its "box-to-box" set-up on PacNet`s regional IP network. This allows organizations to achieve cost savings immediately as they do not incur additional charges, including local tolls.
In the first quarter of 2003, PacNet saw a marked reduction in its direct IDD costs, with an estimated saving of 30 per cent over the previous quarter. Some regional offices, for example Hong Kong, experienced cost savings of more than 40 per cent.
Users have also reported that PacNet Voice allows them to conduct more in- depth and productive telephone discussions with colleagues in other offices, without the worry of costly IDD charges. Employees have also singled out the high voice quality as an appealing point, hence creating the added incentive to utilize the service.
"In the past, we tend to watch our time during engineering or product development discussions with regional colleagues. We are naturally conscious about clocking up a large IDD bill for the company. Now, with PacNet Voice, discussions are much more constructive with no unnecessary pressure to skip details in order to save IDD costs. The unlimited call benefit of PacNet Voice is tremendous," said Mr Wong Kok Hoou, Vice President of Engineering and Network Operations, Pacific Internet Singapore.
Mr Wong advised that the company plans to increase the bandwidth between the regional PacNet POPs in order to accommodate the increasing usage of this service. There are also plans to allow international faxing and calls to anywhere in the world over the same infrastructure by the third quarter of 2003.
PacNet Voice Commercial Rollout
The Group is now set to roll out PacNet Voice on a commercial basis following the successful deployment.
PacNet Voice will be offered as a managed service on top of its core access services. As a managed solution, customers will be charged fees on a fixed monthly flat rate with no additional capital expenditure and maintenance. Service reliability and voice quality will be assured as it runs on the Group`s own regional network infrastructure.
"The key proposition of the service is a fixed monthly charge, regardless of the amount of time spent on calls each month. This differentiates us from other toll-based VoIP services provided by telcos and international service resellers today. We provide a service that allows customers to predict the cost of communications," said Mr Tan.
"While other service providers are still talking about the benefits of VoIP, Pacific Internet has actually used the solution ourselves and is reaping actual cost savings. The next step is to extend this benefit to our customers," added Mr Tan

SINGAPORE, 2 May, 2003 ---
Asia’s largest telco-independent Internet service provider by geographic reach, Pacific Internet Limited (NASDAQ: PCNTF), today announced the start of a free trial of its Web-based video conferencing solution, PacNet Video Conference, involving key corporate customers.
This trial follows closely behind the recent launch of PacNet Voice, a managed VoIP service. PacNet Video Conference and PacNet Voice are two of a series of premier business-class value-added services planned by the company. This is in line with the company’s earlier announced plans to go beyond connectivity services.
PacNet Video Conference is a joint initiative with Singapore-based Imajet Communications, Inc., a provider of IP video conferencing and interactive broadcasting solutions. Offered as a managed service, organizations can tap the benefits of on-demand video conferencing with Web-based interactive and collaborative virtual meetings with no worries about equipment or system purchases. With PacNet Video Conference, businesses can effectively conduct meetings, deliver presentations and collaborate online with partners in geographically dispersed locations.
As part of the PacNet Video Conference trial, Pacific Internet is issuing free user accounts to selected corporate business clients for unlimited usage over a two-month period. Key employees in these companies would be able to conduct video communications with colleagues locally in the office, at home and in overseas branches.
Mr Tan Tong Hai, President and CEO of Pacific Internet Limited, said, "We have tested PacNet Video Conference internally for the past few months and are satisfied with its deliverables. This free trial exercise is another essential step prior to the commercial launch later this year. Our corporate customers will experience the convenience and relevance of video conferencing without the traditional high cost and fixed location restrictions

@Hiwi,

Alles in allem m. e. solide!
Gruss Nase

@robby13,
@alle
Hat sich der Wechselkurs zwischen S$ u. US$ verändert?

Was hältst Du von Hongkom.com?
