      Daily Planet listing stimulates investors
      May 2 2003
      By Christian Catalano

Hours before The Daily Planet officially jumped onto the ASX share board, several cheeky punters were bidding 69¢ for a piece of the stock.

Given that the world`s first listed bordello had offered its shares at 50¢ each last year, some might suggest that the offers were a bit high. But the bids were followed by an orgy of enthusiasm that thrust the shares to a closing price of $1.09.

The company said investors had been attracted to the corporate structure. Rather than deriving revenue through the sale of sex, the company will operate as owner and manager of the property that houses the brothel in Elsternwick.

Managing director Andrew Harris said: "The investors we have right through the registry are all retail investors - mums and dads who like the fact we are paying a high yield."

The company`s prospectus said it would pay investors an annualised average return of 10.44 per cent return during the next two years and would release dividends every half-year.

Profit was expected to reach $220,000 to the end of June 2003 and $720,000 in the next financial year.

However, the initial offer raised only $3.75 million - well below the original target of $8 million - meaning The Daily Planet`s plans to buy a brothel in Sydney have been shelved.

"The reality is, there`s few IPOs that have even made it to the stock exchange this year," Mr Harris said. "So yes, we did compromise and settle for the lower shareholding."

The company said it did not want to deal with banks, and it would wait for the stock to settle before announcing another share issue. It hopes to open franchises in the Netherlands, the United States and Brazil.

"The industry that has the most integrity is the sex industry . . . it has a completely transparent agenda," Mr Harris said. "Every banker I`ve ever spoken to has a hidden agenda."

Daily Planet plans Sydney `sex Disneyland`
      Apr 30 12:53
      AAP

The Daily Planet, which on Thursday becomes the first brothel to list on the Australian Stock Exchange, has plans to open a "sex Disneyland" in Sydney.

Chief executive Andrew Harris said the company was likely to abandon its plans for the Barclay Hotel in Kings Cross and acquire another property three times the size and in a better location.

The Daily Planet raised $3.5 million in its initial public offering with one of the new 600 shareholders acquiring $1 million worth of shares.

International madam Heidi Fleiss is in Melbourne for the launch and, according to Mr Harris, has played a key role in attracting worldwide media attention for the listing.

"Heidi`s ideas, her background, her knowledge have helped us a great deal," Mr Harris said. "The international novelty value with Heidi promoting it has been massive - these shares can go anywhere."

But it hasn`t been an easy road to the ASX since the idea was first mooted in 1994.

"The establishment did not want a brothel on the stock exchange," Mr Harris said. "It`s only because we were the biggest and the best that we could afford to do it.

"We have fought every institution, every law firm ... it`s cost us a fortune but now we`re going on a massive expansion."

Mr Harris said The Daily Planet was likely to give up its option on the Barclay Hotel after being offered a better property this week.

"It`s three times as big and in a better location in Sydney," he said.

Sydney was attractive because its prostitution laws were less restrictive than Melbourne, Mr Harris said.

"(Prostitution) is completely decriminalised in Sydney and we are going to build a monster," he said. "We want a complete one-stop adult venue - we want a complete adult venue with adult cinemas, adult shops... we have found much bigger premises in a much better location to create a sex Disneyland."

The company is also considering franchising The Daily Planet within Australia with likely venues in Perth, Brisbane, Sydney`s western suburbs and a second venue in Melbourne.

"We are doing all sorts of deals and once we`re on the stock exchange the world opens up to us, and not just brothels, all sorts of things," Mr Harris said.

But The Daily Planet is saving its big plans for the United States where it is negotiating with two well-known American personalities to join the board.

"The US is our major thrust - we want to build a little city called Metropolis with a 150-200 room hotel in Nevada," he said.

Heute ist der Puppe die Luft ausgegangen.
Wird wohl bald wieder unter 1 Dollar kosten.
Es ist aber unglaublich wie viel Berichterstattung die Neuemission gebracht hat.
