Die Verkaufszahlen von Viagra,Cialis und Co. sprechen dann eine andere Sprache,wobei ein Sättigungsgrad der neueren
Präparate derzeit noch nicht auszumachen ist.

VIVUS 893980, nochmals als kleiner Tip für die nächste Zeit, auch hinsichtlich des Lustpegels bei der
Depotbetrachtung.
Sehe da zwar keine Dausend als KZ, mittelfristig aber beste
Chancen auf gute Zuwächse.
" Zuhause" erfreut sich das Papier die letzten Tage regen Interesses, was sich auch bereits im Kurs wiederspiegelt.
Hierzulande taxt der Makler durchaus noch recht kunden-
freundlich, wahrscheinlich verspätetes Weihnachtspräsent.

Vor vier Wochen, genauer gesagt am 25.12.03, habe ich den am o.g. Threadthema Interessierten den Hinweis gegeben, sich doch mal vertiefend mit VIVUS INC. zu beschäftigen.
Weil es sich meines Erachtens nach so gehört, sollte man sich auch hinterher dem Thema stellen, egal ob es nun den Erwartungen entsprechend, oder eben nicht so gut gelaufen ist.

Was - zunächst vorweg - die kurzfristige " Ausbeute" anbelangt, dürfte über ein Kursplus von ca. 30 % nicht zu meckern sein, das noch dazu - wie in den letzten Tagen gesehen -, kräftig verteidigt wird. Auch am Freitag mit 4,60 $ auf Tageshoch geschlossen.

In Erwartung der Quartalszahlen, welche meines Wissens nach am 28.01. veröffentlicht werden, ist davon auszugehen, daß im Vorfeld nicht mehr allzuviel passieren wird. Bei positivem Newsflow - vor Allem der Ausblick wird da entscheidend sein -, wirds wohl flott Richtung 6$-Marke gehen.
Einschätzungen zufolge,- so wurde das zumindest in finacial.yahoo veröffentlicht - soll die Wachstumsrate für 2004 bei VIVUS ( 60 % ) im Vergleich zum Gesamtsektor ( 21,9% ) fast dreimal so stark ausfallen, in Bezug auf die Industrie ( 15,5 % ) und den S+P500 ( 12,8% ) fällt die Überproportionalität noch deutlicher auf.
Ein Szenario, konträr zu dem eben geschilderten, ist derzeit eher unwahrscheinlich, da ja auch noch das Thema ALISTA im Raum steht.

Für die Fraktion der Charttechniker dürfte hier wohl auch das, was man in Bayern als "gmahte Wies`n " bezeichnet, vorliegen. Selbst ein ungeübter Vertreter der Gilde wird feststellen, daß seit fünf Jahren bereits regelmäßig am Jahresanfang ein charttechnischer Ausbruch erfolgte, welcher den Kurs des Papieres immer in relativ kurzer Zeit deutlich nach oben katapultierte. Nebenbei bemerkt erfolgten jeweils in den "geraden Jahren" die deutlich höheren Kurszuwächse - Bereich 10$ .

Wie dem auch sei, allen Investierten einen Aktionärsgruß - gibts da eigentlich sowas wie der " Mast und Schotbruch" bei den Seglern ??

VIVUS Reports Fourth Quarter and Full Year Financial Results

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Jan. 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- VIVUS, Inc. (Nasdaq: VVUS - News), a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on research, development and commercialization of products proven to restore sexual function, today announced its financial results for the three and twelve months ended December 31, 2003.
Revenues for the fourth quarter were $9.0 million, compared to $7.9 million in the fourth quarter of 2002. For the three months ended December 31, 2003, VIVUS reported net income of $2.2 million or $0.06 net income per share, compared to a net loss of ($1.6) million or ($0.05) net loss per share, for the three months ended December 31, 2002.

For the year ended December 31, 2003, revenues were $27.4 million, compared to $22.3 million for the year ended December 31, 2002. VIVUS reported a net loss of ($26,000) or ($0.00) net loss per share, compared to a net loss of ($10.6) million or ($0.32) net loss per share, for the twelve months ended December 31, 2002. The decrease in the net loss in 2003 is due primarily to revenue recognized as the result of the resolution of our arbitration claim against Janssen Pharmaceutica International (Janssen) in the third quarter of 2003. Reduced operating expenses also contributed to the reduced loss. Excluding the arbitration award, which included reimbursement of legal fees, revenues would have been $22.4 million and VIVUS would have reported a net loss of ($5.4) million, ($0.15) net loss per share, for the twelve months ended December 31, 2003.

At December 31, 2003, VIVUS had cash, cash equivalents and available-for-sale securities of $48.3 million, an increase of $18.5 million from December 31, 2002. The increase is due primarily to the net proceeds of $16.4 million from a private placement in May 2003. VIVUS received an additional $4.0 million of cash in November 2003 as a result of the resolution of our arbitration claim against Janssen.
