FORT WORTH, Texas, Sept 14, 2005 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- American Technologies Group, Inc. (ATEG) , announced today that it has acquired, through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Omaha Holdings Corp., all of the common stock of North Texas Steel Company, Inc. for $11.0 million in cash.

The acquisition of North Texas Steel and related transactions were funded with $12,650,000 in funding of which $12,000,000 was provided by Laurus Master Fund, Ltd. ("Laurus Funds"). Laurus Funds is a New York City-based institutional fund specializing in providing financing to growing, small and micro-capitalization companies. The remaining funding in the amount of $650,000 was provided by two institutional investors.

ATG Vacuum Distiller

Water quality has become a major health issue in the US and other countries. This has caused an explosion in the world market demand for water treatment systems for home use. There are numerous technologies currently being used to satisfy this demand. Of all the various technologies used in the purification of water, (such as distillation, reverse osmosis and filtration), distillation is the only one that puts the water through a phase-change. This provides a significant advantage.


Superiority of Distillation

From an operational point of view, several significant differences exist amongst the technologies used. A small hole in a reverse osmosis membrane can drastically reduce water quality yet go unnoticed. Filters can become clogged and re-release contaminants back into the water, unknown to the user. A distiller on the other hand, because of the phase-change, which occurs when water is boiled, builds in a natural block between the contaminated water source and the final purified water. This robustness of design separates distillation from all other water purification technologies.


Types of Distillation Technology

There are many variations in distillation technologies ranging from simple direct distillation to low pressure vacuum distillation using vacuum pumps and air ejection systems. Vacuum distillation has a significant advantage as it avoids scale buildup when hard water is being distilled. The high cost of vacuum generation prohibits the use of vacuum pumps in the home use markets. In the ATG vacuum distiller, however, the advantages of vacuum distillation are achieved without the need for expensive vacuum pumps or air ejectors. The ATG distiller brings the benefits of vacuum distillation into the home for the first time.


Operational Problems

The major problem of water distillation technology is the damage caused by scale buildup in hard-water areas. Severe damage to boilers and heating elements can occur within a few months of distilling hard water, resulting in a large reduction in distiller performance. The hard-scale buildup is not easy to remove and requires the use of specialized chemicals. Vacuum distillers avoid this scale problem because they boil the water at low temperatures, which are below scale formation ranges. However, vacuum technology requires high cost and high maintenance vacuum pumps. Additionally, the low temperatures of vacuum distillation allow growth of bacteria. The ATG vacuum distiller technology has successfully overcome all of these problems by creating a vacuum without vacuum pump. Moreover, the system is sterilized during the vacuum formation process.


Advantages of the ATG vacuum distiller Technology

ATG`s proprietary new vacuum distillation technology solves the scale buildup problem by recognizing that scaling is caused by the reverse solubility curve of calcium bicarbonate in water that initiates scaling deposits at 140°F. When water is boiled at 212°F the rate of scale formation, particularly on heating element and boiler surfaces, is high. The problem is accelerated by the rapid increase in hardness that occurs as the volume of water in the boiler is reduced during the distillation process.

The ATG distiller uses a proprietary method of creating a vacuum, allowing boiling to occur at a lower temperature, thus minimizing hard scale formation. The ATG vacuum distiller solves both major problems currently affecting distillation systems, that is elimination of scale buildup and the extra costs of a vacuum pump or air ejector. The simplicity of design of the ATG vacuum distiller also keeps repair and maintenance costs to a minimum.
