Lenovo Boosts Latin America Focus in Reorganization

Lenovo Group Ltd., the world’s second-biggest maker of personal computers, will create a new Americas division to sharpen focus on Latin American markets.

Gerry Smith, president of North America operations, will oversee the enlarged division starting April 1, the company said in an internal e-mail to employees today that was confirmed by Lenovo spokesman Jeffrey Shafer. The Beijing-based PC-maker’s Latin America business had been grouped with Asia Pacific under Milko Van Duijl.

The new setup will smooth operations as employees in South America will no longer need to coordinate decisions with Asia- based managers in different times zones. Lenovo has also announced plans for a new computer factory in Brazil and bought a local maker of PCs, smartphones and tablets as economic growth spurs demand.

“Geographic alignment makes management easier and more effective for all of our leaders and for their teams,” Lenovo said in the e-mail. “We are confident that the efficiency benefits of this change will be significant.”

Latin America and Brazil accounted for the majority of a 1.6 percent decline in third-quarter sales at the Asia-Pacific and Latin America business, Chief Financial Officer Wong Wai Ming said on an earnings conference call Jan. 30.

The $147 million acquisition of Digibras, the maker of CCE brand PCs, “will help accelerate our expansion in the country,” Wong said on the call. The purchase, completed last month, doubled Lenovo’s PC market share in Brazil and boosted its sales ranking to third from seventh.

Lenovo in July announced plans to spend $30 million building a computer factory and a distribution center in Itu, in the Brazilian state of São Paulo. The unit will have as many as 700 employees in two years, when it’s expected to reach maximum capacity, Lenovo said at the time.

Dell ist nirgends "raus aus der Nummer".

Der Gründer Mister Dell hat alle Aktien von der Börse genommen (hat alle aktienbesitzer ausgezahlt), also er ist nun alleiniger Inhaber der Firma. Wer finanziell noch daran beteiligt ist, weiß ich nicht.

Von Null auf Platz 5 in nur 1 Jahr bei den Smartphone-Verkäufen, das ist wirklich rasant:

Da LENOVO im Gegensatz zu HUAWEI und ZTE über ein ganz ordentliches Vertriebsnetz außerhalb Chinas verfügt, ist die Prognose doch wohl nicht zu gewagt, dass sich LENOVO schon recht bald auf Platz 3 wiederfinden wird. LENOVO kann hier also noch ein sehr ordentliches Wachstum generieren. Und wo sind DELL und HP in der Statistik?

Dann müssten eigentlich nur noch abschließend die Nettomargen stimmen (APPLE = 20%, LENOVO = 0%).

LENOVO GROUP (00992.HK) surprised the market as it was re-picked into blue-chip constituents after six years in the quarterly review of the Hang Seng Index Company.

Jackson Wong, Vice President of Tanrich Securities Company Limited, said the inclusion is reasonable as the coming results of the Company is expected to be satisfactory and the business is expected to see breakthrough in the coming one to two years. He recommends that it is the right time to buy, with short term target at $9.

Ellie Chan, Investment Analyst of Shenyin Wanguo Securities (H.K.) Ltd., said as many analysts had considered ABC (01288.HK) and GALAXY ENT (00027.HK) the favorites, Lenovo is expected to see massive capital inflow after the revision announcement. She estimates that the stock may break above $9, saying that the potential participation in the mobile phone business and overseas acquisition may become another catalysts for the stock price.

Hallo siba,

das klingt sehr gut durch dieses Effekt dürfte der Kursverlauf weiter positiv verlaufen, wenn die Newslage weiter gut ist und es gesamtmarkttechnisch nicht zu grösseren Kursrückgängen kommt wird der Kurs uns weiter Freude machen.

Sehe den Kurs bei circa 10 HK Dollar.

Lenovo Group Ltd., the world’s second-biggest maker of personal computers, will be added to Hong Kong’s benchmark Hang Seng Index effective March 4, Hang Seng Indexes Co., compiler of the city’s benchmark stock market- index, said in a statement today.

Aluminum Corp. of China Ltd., the nations’ biggest producer of the metal, will be removed from the index, according to the statement. The total number of index members will remain at 50. Haitong Securities Co. will be added to the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index of Chinese companies’ so-called H shares, while ZTE Corp. will be removed, Hang Seng Indexes said.

The changes may affect the share-price movements of the added or removed companies, as Hang Seng Index-tracking funds such as the Hang Seng Index Exchange-Traded Fund, with a total asset value of HK$36.4 billion ($4.69 billion) as of February, adjust their holdings.

The Hang Seng Index has jumped 9.9 percent to 23,256.93 since its last quarterly review on Nov. 16, when the addition of Kunlun Energy Co. to the gauge was announced.
