So viel ich weiß, habe ich gar keine Stellung bezogen, geschweige denn hier veröffentlicht. Habe das Schreiben von Fortuna ohne eigenen Kommentar eingestellt, damit sich jeder selber seine Meinung bilden kann.

Fortuna has presence in the state of Oaxaca since 2006. We have taken the San Jose project from exploration to discovery to resource definition/expansion to construction and to production, since last September. Our operation is fully permitted and complies with all local, state and federal Mexican environmental/mining regulations. The San Jose mine is a zero-discharge underground operation which does not use cyanide nor use water from the freatic mantle. To meet our water balance requirements, we collect rainfall water in the tailings dam and use water we bring from the grey water treatment plant in the town of Ocotlan de Morelos, +-15 kilometers from the mine site.
We are the most important employer in the area; 450 people employed at the mine, +-50% come from the San Jose del Progreso community and annexes. We also foment local businesses as we source locally all the goods we can purchase. As an example of our community relations programs, we have formalized the local women’s weavers association at San Jose and now they sell us work overalls and safety vests. Regarding the posting you are making reference to, San Jose is a very convoluted area where acts of violence related to local political/financial struggles constantly take place. As an example, the entrance to the mine was blockaded at the beginning of 2009 by a fringe group of activists/environmental demonstrators [demonstrators were claiming that we were in operation (false, doing pre-feasibility study), we were contaminating the river with cyanide and killing their animals (false, we do not source water from the river nor use cyanide), we had an open pit operation (false, it is an underground operation) amongst other arguments with no back-up. The blockade was resolved by Mexican authorities and the federal police removed the demonstrators from the federal highway (+-500 meters from the mine’s entrance). Please click on:

Since the beginning of the year there have been two murders in the town of San Jose. In both cases, activists/demonstrators have tried to link our presence in the area with the incidents.
Last Saturday, a shooting took place in the town of San Jose del Progresso involving members of the municipal government and their political opponents. The unofficial version is that the Municipal members were attacked by a faction of opponents while driving through the town. In retaliation, a person in the vehicle opened gun fire from the truck against the aggressors. The shots severely injured Bertín Vasquez (transported to the hospital using Cuzcatlan´s ambulance) and wounded Guadalupe Andres Vasquez Ruiz. The incident is currently being investigated by local and state authorities.
Electronic media reports/articles have started to circulate since Saturday linking members of the municipality involved in the incident with Minera Cuzcatlan. The company categorically denies any association or relationship of any sort with the constant acts of violence in the area.

Am Samstag Abend gegen 20:30 h Ortszeit wurden erneut zwei Mitglieder der lokalen Buergerbewegung gegen die Mine von Fortuna - Coordinadora de los Pueblos Unidos del Valle de Ocotlán (COPUVO) - angeschossen. Eine der beiden Personen wurde dabei schwer verletzt.
Dies ist nun schon die dritte schwere Gewalttat, die allein deses Jahr an Gegnern der Mine in San José veruebt worden ist. Zwei Menschen fielen diesen Attentaten bereits zum Opfer. Bernardo Méndez Vásquez am 18. Januar und Bernardo Vásquez Sánchez am 15. Maerz.
Dies sollte zu denken geben, bevor man hier investiert, oder wenn man schon hier investiert ist!!! Ihr tragt hierfuer mit die Verantwortung!
