Red Herring Sites Mediaplex As One of the Few Internet Advertising Stocks With
Long-Term Opportunity
Mediaplex Joins Cisco, Oracle and CMGI in Red Herring`s Virtual Technology Portfolio
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 20, 2000-- Mediaplex, Inc. (Nasdaq:MPLX - news), a leading advertising technology company, has ``got its MOJO rising,``
according to the July 2000 issue of Red Herring.
Rating Mediaplex in his ``Stocks to Watch`` column, Red Herring`s Peter Henig says, ``We`re convinced that the real-time nature of the company`s banner technology positions it to steal
a nice chunk of the online advertising market in the years to come.`` According to market research firm Forrester Research, the Web advertising market is projected to reach $33 billion
worldwide by 2004.
As a result of the rating, Red Herring added Mediaplex to its virtual-investment portfolio of technology stocks, currently totaling 11 companies, including infrastructure stocks such as
Cisco, Intel and Oracle as well as Internet advertising technology holding company CMGI.
Red Herring`s evaluation of Mediaplex quotes SG Cowen internet analyst, Scott Reamer, ``Mediaplex`s MOJO technology is the Rosetta Stone of the online advertising world...it`s the
right technology at the right time.``
Mediaplex`s pioneering MOJO(TM) (mobile Java objects) technology is the only platform with the capability to automatically change advertising messages in real-time response to
changes in an advertiser`s key business data, such as pricing, inventory, customer information and promotion initiatives, then report back results for ongoing optimization.

Hallo Seen, Hallo Philipz,
Comdirect ist Comdefect - a Grachalfirma !!!

An der Nasdaq gibt es keine WKN`s. Comdirect braucht nur die deutsche um die Order an der Nasdaq einzugeben. Wenn es keine deutsche WKN gibt, dann geht auch kein Nasdaq-Kauf. Also einfach WKN 926821 nennen ;-)

The Company also announced that is has accelerated plans to establish ad-serving facilities in Sydney and Singapore
to accommodate a growing customer base throughout the Asia-Pacific region. Targeted for early 3rd Qtr., this expanded

``The capacity demand on our server systems has increased exponentially over the past few months, with a 92% gain in
total number of impressions served,`` said Gary Ogle, Vice President, Network Operations for Mediaplex. ``Additionally,
the number of MOJO-enabled ads, which require a much greater level of technical sophistication, increased by 1,350%.

Na also, da isser der 16$-Boden!

Company Press Release
Mediaplex to Acquire Ad Agency Management ASP AdWare from Interpublic`s
McCann-Erickson
Acquisition Allows Mediaplex to Offer a Complete Online-to-Offline Media-Management Solution for Traditional
and Web-Based Advertising
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 17, 2000-- The advertising technology company Mediaplex, Inc. (NASDAQ: MPLX - news) today announced that it has entered into
a definitive agreement to acquire AdWare Systems, Inc., a global media management applications service provider, from The Interpublic Group of Companies, Inc. (NYSE:IPG - news)
and its McCann-Erickson Worldwide unit, the world`s largest ad agency network.
The acquisition of AdWare will allow Mediaplex to offer to agencies, advertisers and other partners a complete online-to-offline media-management solution, leveraging the latest digital
technologies. The transaction dramatically expands Mediaplex`s strategic market opportunity, from being a provider to the $7 billion, Internet-only advertising arena to one serving the far
larger $400+ billion total advertising marketplace.
``In conjunction with AdWare, Mediaplex now has the technology to manage media intelligently across print, radio, TV, billboards, the Web and wireless devices,`` said Gregory R.
Raifman, chairman and CEO of Mediaplex. ``This builds on Mediaplex`s proven ability to integrate corporate information, such as real-time product pricing or availability data, directly
into a Web or wireless ad campaign. IPG has long been viewed as a technology leader in the advertising community, and we look forward to working with them and others to develop
increasingly innovative capabilities.``
Sal LaGreca, Vice Chairman and Chief Financial Officer of IPG`s McCann-Erickson WorldGroup, said: ``Mediaplex, by integrating its online products with AdWare, is creating a
much-needed bridge between the Web and the world of traditional media management. The result is an innovative, end-to-end solution that positions the combined Mediaplex/AdWare
to provide the next generation of infrastructure for the marketing communications industry.``
As part of the transaction, Mediaplex/AdWare executed a five-year services agreement under which McCann-Erickson will continue as an AdWare charter client. At the same time,
Mediaplex/AdWare will continue to offer its services to other agencies and partners throughout the marketing communications industry.
AdWare, which offers a suite of capabilities ranging from agency accounting to media buying to digital asset management, will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Mediaplex.
Headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, AdWare currently employs 116 people. The combined company will employ approximately 300 people in San Francisco, Silicon Valley,
Louisville, New York City and Toronto.
Donald G. Fitzpatrick, president of AdWare, said: ``The marketing communications landscape is changing dramatically, increasingly requiring dynamic, integrated solutions to streamline
the processes for message creation and effective targeting and distribution. AdWare`s robust suite of business applications and digital media-management offerings, coupled with
Mediaplex`s abilities to harness real-time advertiser business information, will make the `closed-loop` process a reality.``
Mediaplex`s next-generation MOJO technology is unique in drawing on an advertiser`s real-time business data to instantly tailor advertising and marketing messages around variables
important to both advertisers and consumers. These variables can include pricing, inventory availability and customer data. Mediaplex`s MOJO Works media-management system links
that valuable business information into an automated online media campaign. With the AdWare acquisition, Mediaplex will now extend this strategic data linkage and real-time automation
across all media campaigns, online and traditional.
Mediaplex has been laying the groundwork for industry-wide integration with its development of advertising XML (adXML), an open-standard technology schema for both online and
offline media. Originally conceived as part of the infrastructure to automate the online advertising market, adXML - under the aegis of the organization adXML.org (www.adxml.org) - is
now being expanded to address all forms of advertising. It is gathering wide industry backing, with more than 250 companies worldwide as adXML.org members.
The agreement, dated June 30, 2000, involves Mediaplex acquiring all outstanding shares of AdWare in exchange for approximately $27.3 million in cash and stock. The transaction will
be accounted for by Mediaplex as a purchase.

MPLX continues to slide
--10:37 am - By Michael Baron
Mediaplex (MPLX: news, msgs) is falling 2 3/16, or 17.5 percent, to 10 5/16. The San Francisco, Calif., advertising technology firm has been in freefall since reporting its second-quarter results, which beat Wall Street loss expectations by a penny. The stock lost roughly 20 percent on July 20 after reporting a second-quarter operating loss of $5.1 million, or 15 cents a share, wider than last year`s equivalent loss of $1 million, or 6 cents a share. Revenue rose 227 percent in the June quarter to $18.6 million, from $5.7 million in the same period a year earlier. The shares then slipped another plus-15 percent to 12 1/2 on Friday. Earlier in Monday`s session, the stock set a new 52-week low of 9 3/4. Dana Serman, an analyst with Lazard Freres, theorized the decline could be related to one large shareholder gradually exiting a significant position. "All it takes is one big seller that wants out," said Serman, who has a "buy" rating on the stock. "Fundamentally, things are fine but fine doesn`t get you too far in terms of a valuation these days." He also cited weakness in DoubleClick, which also participates in the online advertising space. "As it stands now, it`s guilty until proven innocent for small-cap Internet stocks," said Serman. "And that probably won`t change until these companies get closer to profitability."
