London, 4 August 2000 - ignite Application Services today announced the roll-out of its BTMediacaster service. Developed in association with The Fantastic Corporation, this groundbreaking service enables companies to broadcast broadband content, such as real-time audio, video and high resolution graphics, via satellite to multiple sites at the touch of a button.

Designed to meet the increasing requirement of organisations, BTMediacaster enables companies to transmit rich content and data to their partners, employees, suppliers or retailers spread over wide geographical areas quickly and efficiently. Using satellite technology even the most remote locations, inaccessible via land-based broadband technology, can be reached within seconds.

The BTMediacaster service has been developed through the highly successful integration of Fantastic`s leading multimedia broadcasting application, the Channel Management Center™ (CMC), and BT`s satellite platform. BTMediacaster delivers an information `push service` via a satellite Internet protocol (IP) multicast service, combining the emotion of TV with the interactivity of the Internet.

Sally Davis, President of ignite Application Services said "We are very excited to announce the full launch of this service, the first of its kind to be available in the UK. By working with Fantastic we are now able to offer companies a really innovative and efficient way of sending high bandwidth content to their audiences, however remote."

The BTMediacaster service enables companies to tailor, package and schedule the broadcast of their multimedia data. At BT Tower, Fantastic`s CMC technology is used to transmit users` broadband files via satellite to the designated recipients, identified by their individual IP addresses.

It has the largest broadband network in Europe and plans to invest around £4 billion over the next three years to expand its backbone network and web hosting and application service provider (ASP) capabilities.
