Alliances Spur Vignette`s Growth
New York, Aug 31, 2000 (123Jump via COMTEX) -- As the Internet
continues to grow, a new generation of e-commerce applications is
emerging - offering everything from increased ease and speed of
online shopping to discounted pricing. In the rat race are hundreds of
e-commerce portals, providing value-added services to customers.
And catering to these e-commerce portals are several solution
providers offering platforms and applications that meet their
transactional, content and integration requirements. Among them is
Vignette Inc. (NASDAQ: VIGN ), a company that provides Customer
Relationship Management (CRM) tools to customers, enabling them
to enhance their Web site sales operations. Vignette primarily offers
content management software, and has repackaged its flagship
StoryServer product under the V/5 E-Business Platform suite,
expanding into online customer personalization and other
business-to-business tools.
The Vignette Syndication Server enables businesses to distribute
electronic goods and services outside of their own Web site through
a network of reseller, affiliate, and partner Web sites. Vignette`s
clients are generally in the retail, finance, telecommunications,
technology and media industries. These clients include Bank One,
Charles Schwab, Chicago Tribune, Land`s End, Nokia, American
Express, CNET Networks and CBS. These customers use Vignette`s
CRM software to create Web-based applications in the areas of
content management, customer channel integration, customer
segmentation and marketing, and application deployment. Vignette`s
services also include consulting, implementation and training.
eCRM - The Emerging Trend
With the evolution of the Internet as a primary business medium, the CRM concept has
become more complex than what it used to be and interaction with customers is now beyond
just telephone calls. Businesses need to keep in touch with their customers though their
Web sites or e-mails in addition to the traditional methods. This is where eCRM comes into
the picture. The eCRM packages help businesses organize their interactions with customers,
whether or not those interactions take place over the Web. And companies expect this to
significantly enhance their sales as well. Joint research by International Data Corp. and the
Cap Gemini consulting group indicates that 44% of U.S. and European corporations expect to
increase turnover by 10% to 20% via CRM software; 23% expect to increase turnover by 20%
to 50%.
Cisco Systems (NASDAQ: CSCO ), one of the world`s leading e-businesses, is a CRM role
model. Cisco has increased customer satisfaction ratings by 23%; reduced delivery times by
between three-to-five days on domestic shipments and seven days for international
shipments; increased sales force productivity and been able to deploy 100 engineers and 600
customer support personnel to other departments. It has realized $330 million in various cost
savings. Currently, 82% of Cisco`s orders are placed online and 83% of customer support
questions are answered via Web self-service. In addition to Vignette, other leading CRM
vendors include Siebel (NASDAQ: SEBL ), Tibco (NASDAQ: TIBX ), BroadVision (NASDAQ:
BVSN ), E.Piphany (NASDAQ: EPNY ) and Kana Communications (NASDAQ: KANA ).
Vignette`s Growth Strategy
Vignette`s growth strategy includes the formation of strategic alliances and establishment of
key relationships with leading players in the industry. Vignette`s recent acquisition of
OnDisplay was an important milestone for the company - OnDisplay`s business-to-business
infrastructure products will be a great value-addition to Vignette`s customers. The company
has been in the news often for its several partnerships. Recent agreements signed include
those with Speedera Networks, AV Labs, Popmail.com, ExpertCommerce, Center 7 - all of
which were announced within a matter of two weeks. Prior to this, the company signed
noteworthy agreements with Inktomi (NASDAQ: INKT ), Sun Microsystems (NASDAQ:
SUNW ) and IBM (NYSE: IBM ).
The agreement signed August 30 with Speedera Networks, a pioneer of global Internet
content delivery and traffic management services, provides Vignette customers looking for a
service-based approach to managing their web sites with direct access to Speedera`s global
content delivery and traffic management services. Speedera is joining Vignette`s Partner
Program as a technology partner and integrating its UDN with Vignette`s V/5 E-business
Platform.
In its strategic relationship announced on August 28 with AV Labs, an early stage venture
fund focused on seed and first round investments in Internet companies delivering B2B,
B2B2C applications and infrastructure products and services through the Internet, AV Labs
portfolio companies will have access to a broad range of e-business solutions, services, and
programs offered by Vignette. Vignette will provide preferential access to technical and
architectural resources, product support services, e-Business development and strategy,
training and marketing programs.
Vignette was recently selected by permission and affinity-based e-mail marketing company IZ
Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of PopMail.com Inc. (NASDAQ: POPM ) to power its
next-generation publishing system. By using the Vignette V/5 E-business Application
Platform, content can be entered one time for use many times in multiple formats, such as
e-mail, Web pages and Wireless Application Protocol (WAP). In addition, the Vignette
software eases the process of editing, workflow, formatting, production and delivery. Three
other companies Abilizer, Obongo and Catalog City, also chose Vignette`s e-business
integration products to power their online commerce applications recently.
Through its partnership, announced August 22, with ExpertCommerce Inc., a provider of an
online business-to-business purchase-evaluation technology, Vignette and ExpertCommerce
will jointly market ExpertCommerce`s eValEngine and Vignette`s e-business integration
platform. Combined, the companies will provide a more comprehensive solution that enhances
businesses` ability to implement leading edge eCRM and eProcurement initiatives, ultimately
driving more efficient and effective eBusiness. Vignette has also formed a partnership with
Ask Jeeves Inc. (NASDAQ: ASKJ ) that will integrate its e-commerce and customer-support
software with Vignette `s e-business platform. The deal will help Ask Jeeves provide an online
content management system for enterprises to help them respond quickly to customers`
questions.
Vignette`s alliance with Inktomi will integrate the Inktomi Commerce Engine with the Vignette
V/5 eBusiness Application Platform. The joint solution automates entry into Inktomi`s robust
commerce infrastructure platform, enabling Vignette customers to instantly tap into Inktomi`s
leading portal network and leverage opportunities for incremental online commerce sales.
Under the agreement, the companies will develop a Vignette Application Foundation(TM)
commerce module, which will enable product data from Vignette customers to become
instantly compatible and available within the Inktomi Commerce platform. These product
offerings will be distributed to consumers through Inktomi`s network of more than 40 leading
Internet portal and destination sites. The commerce module is expected to be available this
fall and will be jointly distributed by Vignette and Inktomi to customers at no charge.
With Sun Microsystems, Vignette has signed a comprehensive global agreement, including
joint sales, marketing and engineering services, that will provide e-business hardware and
software solutions for companies to build successful online businesses. Based on customer
demand, the companies will develop next-generation e-business solutions initially targeting
the fast-growing new media and telecommunication markets, including wireless. With this
agreement, Sun and Vignette have significantly expanded their long-standing relationship to
deliver solutions based on Sun`s industry-leading Sun Enterprise servers, Solaris Operating
Environment platform and Java 2, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) technology, and the recently
announced Vignette V/5 E-business solutions.
In its strategic relationship with IBM, Vignette will combine its e-business applications with
IBM`s WebSphere e-business platform. The integration will give customers the technology to
build their market share while decreasing time of deployment and infrastructure to support
e-business development. The partnership with IBM is expected to contribute "substantially" to
Vignette`s revenue growth over the next three years. The multi-year agreement calls for
Vignette and IBM to market the technologies jointly.
On the international front, Vignette had announced a deal with Terra Networks (NASDAQ:
TRRA ), a subsidiary of Telefonica (NYSE: TEF ), in the previous quarter, whereby Terra
would use Vignette to deploy all its initiatives throughout Spain, Central America and South
America. Vignette now plans to focus on Europe, Asia and Latin America.
Investment Considerations
The global market for CRM is expected to see huge growth in the future. Despite the large
number of players in the field, enough room is anticipated to accommodate all of them.
According to International Data Corp., the global CRM market in 1998 was estimated to have
been $33.2 billion, and is expected to grow to $90 billion by 2003 - an average annual
increase of 35%. Software license revenue alone will jump to $10.1 billion in 2003, from $2.3
billion in 1999; the services market is seen growing to $125 billion in 2004, from $34 billion in
1999. The International Data Corp./Cap Gemini study indicates that 32% of corporations in
the U.S. and Europe expect to spend between $2 million to $5 million on CRM software and
implementation in the next two years; 31% expect to spend over $5 million. Forrester
Research analysts also agree that this is a multi-vendor space. Given this scenario, Vignette,
which has already made a name for itself in the industry, is expected to have bright
prospects. The company`s strategic partnerships are expected to significantly contribute to
its revenue streams in the future.
Financially, Vignette has performed well so far. During its second quarter, concluded June 30,
2000, the company`s total revenue increased to $77.1 million, representing a 419% increase
over the second quarter of 1999 and a 40% increase over last quarter. Core operating loss
was $3.5 million, beating Wall Street consensus estimates of a $4.4 million loss, while the
core EPS of a penny beat Wall Street consensus estimates that earnings would stay flat.
The 17 Wall Street research analysts that cover the Vignette stock expect the company`s
losses to decrease in 2000. The deficit is expected to be nil, down from 31 cents per share
last year. The company`s shares are presently trading in the range of 34, compared to its
52-week high of 100 21/32. One year ago, shares stood at 8 11/32. Currently, Vignette`s
shares are considered to be a "Buy" by Wall Street analysts.

Analysten´-
konferenzen sollen sehr positiv gewesen sein. Unerklärlich, warum
solch eine Aktie so stark gefallen ist. Liegt wohl am Umfeld, Internet
ist ja out.

It is quite nervous to watch VIGN drop 10%/day for last 3 days. I think this is due to pre-earning jitters: there are no many buyers willing to step in. But VIGN is really dirty cheap at this point, no matter how you look at it.
Markets still lump VIGN and BVSN together. I guess the perception is they sell software to startups, hence the nervousness. Ironically, the perception is totally wrong.
Markets still don`t get that VIGN is absoultly the leader in its sector by wide margin. VIGN`s revenue recognition policy didn`t help on that. The sector VIGN is in is one of the sweetest spots in software industry. Big corporations are starting using their intranet as the media of choice for collabration. Web is the media of future, and VIGN`s software makes that possible. VIGN should enjor the market cap of ARBA`s, or even more, depends on their future excution.
I just want do a comparison of VIGN and BEAS. Markets now realize BEAS is one of leaders in an important sector, application server. Hence it enjoys market cap of 24b. But application server is an awefully crowded field. For market leaders, there are IBM, SUN/Netscape. And NT/W2k can play the role of application server too.
But VIGN is the dominat leader in content managment, hence the SUN and IBM alliance. And content managment is very important and difficult to replace once installed. VIGN did about half of BEAS`s revenue last Q, but grow much faster. And more than half of BEAS`s revenue came from Tuxdo, which grows very slow. I think VIGN should have at least 2/3 market cap of BEAS` right now, which will be around $70.
Further more, the transition from Story server to V/5 came just at
right time (can you say vision?) Now VIGN can incorporate a lot of more functionalities like personaliztion (sorry BVSN) into one platform.
Application is the way to go. We saw the news Yesterday that BEAS is going to bundle IWOV`s content managment software with Weblogic. You can bet the content management is what market demands right now.
I guess because the new SEC rule, everybody is in the dark. The momentum traders are dominate the price action now. But if you are long term investor, you will be richly awarded if you pick up shares at this price.
One more point, operating marging should be the way to evaluate the future profitblity of high growth companies. VIGN had margin about 56% last Q. The margin will be high once it has more installed base. I think JDSU had about the same operating margin last Q.

Graf,
05.10.2000
Aktuelles Urteil: kaufen
Letztes Update: 27.07. 2000
Aktueller Kurs: 22,81 USD
Marktkapitalisierung: 5,3 Mrd. USD
KGV 2000/2001: k.A. / 760
KUV 2000/2001: 16 / 6,4

Was hältst Du von INSP?
Ich denke, daß diese Kurse Kaufgegelegenheiten darstellen.

Die Customer list as of Q300 ist upgedated!
Zahlreiche neue Kunden.

Mark my words.

Grüße an alle Vignette-Bullen.

Leading Mortgage Lender Chooses Vignette
AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 8, 2000--Vignette Corp. (Nasdaq:VIGN - news), the leading supplier of e-business applications, today announced that mortgage lender DiTech selected the Vignette® V/5 E-business Application Platform(TM) to re-launch its mortgage origination Web site, www.ditech.com.
DiTech, a subsidiary of GMAC, originated $4.3 billion in loans in 1999. DiTech has become one of the largest and most innovative mortgage lenders by enabling customers to handle the entire loan process online from application to signing documents online and on the telephone in a fast and convenient customer focused experience.
The new site offers mortgage tools such as credit reports and financial calculators, as well as personalized features including an up-to-date loan status section and an e-appraisal service. In addition the site contains a robust, searchable frequently asked questions and glossary section. Rates are updated on a daily basis to provide users the most current lending information.
Due to the site`s growing consumer demand, DiTech sought a solution that would be scalable and enable it to rapidly deploy new features and capabilities to sustain that growth. In addition, the ability to personalize content was a critical requirement for the re-launch.
``Vignette`s products were extremely effective in helping us design a solution for the demanding e-business requirements of our client, ditech.com,`` said Greg Gentling, executive vice president of content and design for Digital Convergence. ``Vignette`s tools allowed us to rapidly deploy a high-performance solution that provided simplified content management for the client and a friendly, personalized experience for users.``

(will sagen not so much profit), dann kann noch mal die
