Es sah alles nach einem schönen Turnaround aus und nun der Absturz!

Orckit and CopperCom Prove Interoperability for End-to-End Voice-Over-DSL Solution
TEL AVIV, Israel, Aug. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Orckit Communications Inc. (Nasdaq: ORCT - news) and CopperCom, the company that is Creating Voice Services over Broadband(TM), announced today that they have successfully proven interoperability between Orckit`s DSL access multiplexer (DSLAM) systems and the CopperCom Gateway, a component of the CopperComplete Architecture(TM). Orckit and CopperCom first demonstrated this successful collaboration at Supercomm 2000 in Atlanta.

``We are pleased to be partnering with CopperCom,`` said Nigel Cole, Vice President of Business Development, Orckit Communications. ``We are confident that the interoperability between Orckit`s DSLAM and CopperCom`s Gateway will enable seamless integration of voice with existing DSL infrastructure.`` The CopperCom Gateway is a carrier-class, NEBS-compliant platform that converts packet voice to conventional voice signals for delivery to a Class 5 PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) switch. The Gateway features true telephony with seamless integration, flexibility and efficiency, ease of provisioning and management, and 99.999 percent reliability. It has been verified for interoperability with Orckit`s DSL access multiplexer systems which includes Orckit`s FastInternet(TM) DSLAM, deployed worldwide, and the SPEEDPORT(TM) DSLAM which is supplied in North America by Fujitsu Network Communications, Inc.

``In order to remain competitive in a rapidly growing VoDSL market, service providers are demanding high quality, interoperable solutions,`` said Jennifer Stagnaro, Chief Marketing Officer at CopperCom. ``The combination of CopperCom`s Gateway and Orckit`s DSLAM will give our mutual customers the call routing and reliability they need in order to serve their targeted business markets.``

      About Orckit`s DSLAM

Orckit`s DSL Access Multiplexer (DSLAM) is based on either ATM, IP or Frame Relay switches, built in a multi-shelf system configuration. The system can be deployed in star, chain and ring topologies, featuring Quality of Service (QoS) that enables the differentiation of service classes. In addition, the system is capable of OAM (Operation, Administration and Maintenance), enabling the carrier to remotely detect and localize failures on the backbone network service level, as well as verifying the Service Level Agreement (SLA) using the system`s comprehensive Performance Monitoring (PM) feature.

      ciao
