The Stock Exchange has received a message from Stone Electronic Technology
Limited which is reproduced as follows:-

"This statement is made at the request of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong
Limited.

The board of directors (the "Board") of Stone Electronic Technology
Limited (the "Company") has noted the recent increase in trading volume of
the shares of the Company and wishes to state that it is not aware of any
reasons for such increase.

The Board confirms that there are no negotiations or agreements relating
to intended acquisitions or realisations which are discloseable under
paragraph 3 of the Listing Agreement, neither is the Board aware of any
matter discloseable under the general obligation imposed by paragraph 2 of
the Listing Agreement, which is or may be of a price sensitive nature.

Made by the order of the Board the directors of which individually and
jointly accept responsibility for the accuracy of this statement.

Stone Elec Tech (0409-HK) expects $25m
profits

The president of Stone Electronic Technology
Limtied, Duan Yong-ji, said that the net profit of the
group will continue to grow at a fast rate due to the
relatively low base point.

The group`s 71 pct owned Stone-MTI is expected to record a net profit of $12 million
while the 25 pct owned Mitsubishi Stone is expected to record $60 million.

These two projects could contribute a minimum of $25 million to the group`s net profits.

However, the share price of Sina.com which is 10 pct owned by the group, has dropped
significantly.

Nevertheless, the group had a 70 times return on investment.
