On January 30, 2006, the company entered into an agreement with International Frontier Resources Corporation ("IFR"), an oil and gas exploration company based in Calgary, Canada, pursuant to which Eternal Energy acquired a ten percent working interest in the project. As consideration, Eternal Energy paid an initial cash payment of $75,000 and agreed to pay fifteen percent of test well drilling costs, production testing costs and all completion costs, plus its proportionate share of the royalty and annual license fees to which the project acreage is subject. In addition, Eternal Energy agreed to provide an irrevocable letter of credit for $1,500,000 in favor of Palace Exploration Limited, another participant in the project. Such letter of credit is for the purpose of securing the company`s portion of the turnkey dry hole costs for the exploratory test well. Eternal Energy also agreed to be bound by the terms and conditions of an agreement and a joint operating agreement between IFR and Palace Exploration Limited relating to the project. The 970 square kilometer (240,000 acre) acreage block is located in Quad 41 and Quad 42 in the North Sea. A three-dimensional seismic survey has been conducted over the project and indicates the potential trapping of hydrocarbons in three potential zones. Subject to rig availability, drilling of the initial test well is tentatively scheduled to commence during the third or fourth quarter of this year.

Quad 41 and Quad 42 will be Eternal Energy`s second petroleum exploration project in the North Sea. Eternal Energy Corp is investing 15% ($1.5 million USD) towards the cost of an 8,500 foot exploration well to earn a 10% interest in a 63,000 acre block in Quad 14 of the North Sea.

Regionally, the prospect is located in a very prolific trend. The block is located 24 kilometres south of the 639 million barrel Claymore field; 20 kilometres south of the 132 million barrel Scapa field; and 9 kilometres north of the 592 BCF Goldeneye field.

Recent 3-D seismic data indicate the potential for trapping hydrocarbons in at least 3 potential reservoirs in the Quad 14 acreage block.

Successful fields in the area including Scapa, Britannia, Goldeneye and Hannay were developed on graben trends identified by seismic data.

Based on the 3-D seismic survey, a similar graben exists over the Laurel Valley prospect. Based upon the work and estimates of Exploration Geosciences Ltd., the prospect generators, the prospect has potential of 380-600 million recoverable barrels of oil.

Quad 41/42, North Sea
Eternal Energy Corp. is investing 15% ($1.5 million USD) towards the cost of a 5,500 foot exploration well to earn a 10% interest in a 240,000 acre block (970 square kilometres) in Quad 41/42 of the North Sea.

A 3-D seismic survey over a portion (20%) of the block indicates that the Lytham prospect can be tested significantly updip from the 41/10-1 well. Seismic data shows over 7,000 acres of closure at the Plattendolomite level.

Based on the estimates and work of Exploration Geosciences Ltd., the prospect generators, the Lytham prospect alone could contain 380-500 BCF of recoverable reserves from three potential reservoirs.

The St. Anne prospect has also been identified from the 3-D seismic and appears to hold significant potential in the Hauptdolomite formation. Based again on the work and estimates of Exploration Geosciences Ltd., St. Anne`s prospect could contain up to 140 BCF of recoverable gas reserves.

Five additional prospects exist from the 3-D seismic interpretation, and based on the success of the first two prospects, Exploration Geosciences Ltd. anticipate that these could be drilled to develop an additional potential gas reserve of over 200 BCF of gas.

Based on the successful drilling of the initial prospects, it is likely that additional seismic work will be undertaken on the Quad 41/42 block. It is anticipated that this work could result in additional prospects with multi-TCF potential.

Erdöl in der Nordsee



Durch die in der Nordsee gemachten Ölfunde hat auch Europa einen beachtenswerten Anteil an den Weltreserven gewonnen. Die Nordseereserven betrugen Ende 1996 Mrd. 2,2 Mrd t Erdöl. Das sind 1,6% der Weltreserven von 138 Mrd t Erdöl.

In dem nur begrenzten, der Bundesrepublik durch internationale Vereinbarung zugestandenen Explorationssektor, konnte allerdings trotz großer Anstrengungen keine einzige Fündigkeit erzielt werden. Über 1 Milliarde DM und über 50 Bohrungen waren hier für die Suche nach Kohlenwasserstoffen von der Industrie aufgewandt worden. Bedeutend günstiger sieht es in den Sektoren der übrigen Anrainerstaaten Dänemark, Niederlande, Großbritannien und Norwegen aus.

Das Gebiet der Nordsee ist seit dem Paläozoikum, dem Erdaltertum, immer wieder von Meeren überflutet worden, die hier ihre Ablagerungen zurückließen. Es wird von einem Nord-Süd verlaufenden Grabensystem durchzogen, das Teil einer transkontinentalen, über den Oberrheingraben bis ins Mittelmeer verlaufenden Schwächezone ist. Von den Nordseegräben wurden besonders während des Jura, der Kreide und des Tertiär mächtige Sedimentserien aufgenommen, die sowohl gute Mutter- wie auch Speichergesteine enthalten. Die mit der Grabenbildung verbundenen tektonischen Verstellungen haben zu wirkungsvollen Fallen geführt, in denen teils Erdöl, teils Erdgas gespeichert ist.

Die Exploration der für ihre Rauhheit bekannten Nordsee begann während der sechziger Jahre in ihren südlichen Teilen, wo die Klimabedingungen günstiger und die Wassertiefen geringer als im Norden sind. Hier sind die geologischen Verhältnisse vergleichbar mit der salzstockgespickten Norddeutschen Tiefebene. Besonders in Rotliegend-Sandsteinen, aber auch im Buntsandstein wurden hier zwischen England und den Niederlanden beachtliche Gaslagerstätten gefunden.

Von hier aus wandte sich die Bohraktivität schrittweise weiter nach Norden, wo die meisten Öl- und Gasfelder an den Rändern und den Schultern des Mittel-Nordsee- und des sich nördlich anschließenden Viking-Grabens liegen. Speicher sind Sandsteine des Jura, sowie Sandsteine und Karbonate des Alttertiär, doch gibt es auch in devonischen und in Zechsteinschichten Lagerstätten. Einige Felder haben beachtliche Reserven, so dass sie auch im internationalen Vergleich zu den großen Feldern gehören. Das von Mobil gefundene, 100 km nördlich der geographischen Breite von Bergen gelegene Statfjord-Feld, das gegenwärtig größte produzierende Ölfeld der Nordsee, enthielt ursprüngliche Reserven von etwa 450 Mio t Öl und rd. 75 Mrd m³ Gas in jurassischen Sandsteinen.

Das Gebiet nördlich des 62. Breitengrades, wo die Wassertiefen 200 m erreichen, wurde von der norwegischen Regierung erst zu Beginn der achtziger Jahre zur Exploration freigegeben. Hier sind bereits vielversprechende Funde gemacht worden. Insbesondere hat man gasführende Strukturen angetroffen, die in die Kategorie der Riesenfelder gehören. Sogar in der weit nördlich vom Polarkreis und nördlich vom Nordkap gelegenen Barents-See wurden schon gasführende Strukturen erbohrt, die für eine fernere Zukunft hoffen lassen.

Exploration im Meer



Die uns vom Festland her vertrauten geologischen Gegebenheiten setzen sich auch noch jenseits der Küsten im Schelfbereich der Meere in gleicher Weise fort. Erst jenseits des Kontinentalsockels, wo die Tiefsee beginnt, findet die Erdölexploration nach heutigen Vorstellungen aus geologischen Gründen ein Ende; in diesem Bereich gibt es keine Sedimentgesteine mehr.

Zwar hat man schon um die Jahrhundertwende herum in Kalifornien (1896), am Maracaibo-See in Venezuela (1914) und bei Baku am Kaspischen Meer mit Bohrungen erste Schritte in ganz flaches und ufernahes Wasser hinein getan, aber erst nach dem 2. Weltkrieg (1947) wagte man sich im Golf von Mexiko vor der amerikanischen Küste bis in etwa 60 m tiefes Wasser vor und begann, weitab vor der Küste Ölfelder zu erschließen. Damit begann die eigentliche Offshore (jenseits der Küste)- Förderung. Das trieb während der letzten Jahrzehnte technisch-wissenschaftliche und unternehmerische Entwicklungen voran, die die weltweiten finanziellen Aufwendungen für die Raumfahrt weit übertreffen.
