Playfair Mining Ltd.: Favourable Metallurgy and Capital Cost Estimates for Grey River Tungsten
Last Update: 4:01 PM ET Jan 15, 2007
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, Jan 15, 2007 (CCNMatthews via COMTEX) -- Playfair Mining (CA:PLY: news, chart, profile) is very pleased to announce that it has received a favourable metallurgical assessment of a bulk sample from the company's Grey River, Newfoundland deposit and has also received a positive review of this report from an independent third-party.
Playfair Mining commissioned SGS Lakefield Research Europe to conduct metallurgical testing of a Wolframite-bearing bulk sample from Grey River, Newfoundland. SGS also prepared a preliminary capital cost estimate for the construction of a traditional gravity separation plant for this project. Playfair then commissioned a review of the SGS report from GraviTa Inc., an independent third party who noted, "..the ore is ideally suited to inexpensive and efficient treatment by gravity concentration."
SGS is the metallurgical market leader in metallurgy, particularly in the development of gravity flowsheets, having significant experience in gravity flow sheet development world-wide. With more than 7,000 employees world wide, they have significant metallurgical facilities in Canada, Chile, Australia, Mexico, South Africa and the UK.
Mike Hallewell, BSc, C.Eng, General Manager, Metallurgical Operations, Cornwall, UK was the QP that supervised the testwork which was a follow up to initial metallurgical scoping testwork carried out on a wolframite-bearing sample from Grey River in 2006 that indicated the material was amenable to a simple traditional gravity concentration process.
In part, the SGS Phase Two Scoping Testwork Report states, "The estimated capital cost of a traditional gravity separation plant is US$3.7 million, the major share of this capital being crushing and concentrate dressing sections." While the construction of a gravity separation plant is only one component of the potential capital costs that would be required to bring the Grey River project into production, the importance of this initial cost estimate is explained by Neil Briggs, President of Playfair Mining, "Relative to the historical resource(i) on this property, the opportunity to potentially expand this deposit through additional underground work, and the current supply and demand fundamentals for tungsten itself, this construction cost estimate is very attractive as Playfair works to advance this deposit. It has been the company's goal to put Grey River into production in the most cost efficient manner possible and this initial capital cost estimate for the separation plant assists us dramatically in working towards this objective."
The independent review of the SGS report was carried out by Richard Burt, President of GraviTa, who is recognized as one of the world's leading experts on gravity concentration technology. He has published more than 50 papers on a variety of subjects including the authoritative work on gravity concentration processes, equipment selection and plant design, titled Gravity Concentration Technology which was published by Elsevier in 1984. Mr. Burt has 43 years of experience in minerals processing including 40 years of experience related to gravity concentration. Mr. Burt concludes, "Having reviewed the reports and correspondence between SGS and Playfair Mining, provided by Playfair for review, the writer can confirm that the work to date has been appropriate, and successfully carried out, allowing suitable, phased, decisions to be made regarding the potential for proper treatment of the Grey River tungsten ore. The proposal for further work has been reviewed, and apart from a couple of minor suggestions, is considered to be the most appropriate. It should provide sufficient information for the optimum plant to be engineered."
With Phase One and Phase Two of Metallurgical Testing now complete, Playfair will undertake a third and final stage of testing. As described by Mr. Burt of GraviTa, "The third and final stage of the test programme will develop the optimum flowsheet, and provide enough information for a suitable plant to be engineered, and for the owners to develop their project economics with full confidence especially with regard to the optimum recovery and concentrate grade." Following the recommendations set forth in the Phase Two Scoping Testwork from SGS and the positive review of these recommendations by GraviTa, Playfair intends to collect a five ton representative sample from underground at Grey River in order to carry out pilot scale metallurgical testing to confirm, refine and improve the results to date.
In conjunction with a program of underground exploration, Playfair will use the metallurgical data contained in the SGS reports along with the initial capital cost estimates for the construction of a gravity separation plant to further this advanced stage property towards production. This advancement towards production at Grey River comes at a time when Playfair is simultaneously executing aggressive exploration programs on other tungsten projects.
Current Tungsten Market
Playfair Mining's focus on advancing its Canadian tungsten projects towards production comes at a time of strong tungsten prices (relative to prices experienced prior to 2005). Tungsten is an extremely hard, heavy, steel-grey to white metal that is remarkable for its robust physical properties and vast uses and cannot be substituted in many industrial applications. Tungsten is a strategic metal and emerging economies such as India and China are consuming increasing amounts of tungsten. Until 2005, China was the world's largest exporter of tungsten concentrate but rapid industrialization within China, structural economic changes, and changes in economic policies towards industry have resulted in the restriction of tungsten exports from China. China is now the world's largest consumer of tungsten. Escalating Chinese consumption, in conjunction with the ongoing demand in the world's principal economies along with the supply issues noted above, has resulted in increases in the price of tungsten. Tungsten prices have increased significantly from a level of US$65-95/MTU in 2004 to an average price of approximately US$250 in 2006. Tungsten prices are generally quoted per Metric Ton Unit ("MTU" - one hundredth of a metric ton of 1,000 kilograms) of contained tungsten trioxide (WO3) in Ammonium Paratungstate. One MTU contains 10 kilograms of WO3 and is the standard weight measure of the tungsten trade. Ammonium Paratungstate is an intermediate product in the production of tungsten metal for which prices are available. A price of US$250 per MTU equates to US$25 per kilogram or US$11.26 per pound.
About the Company
Playfair owns 4 tungsten deposits(i), Grey River (Newfoundland), Risby (Yukon), Lened (Northwest Territories) and Clea (Yukon). Playfair's primary focus has been the Grey River deposit where consistently favourable results have advanced the project towards production.

(i) Estimates of tungsten resources are historical in nature, predate and are noncompliant with NI 43-101. Playfair is not treating the historical estimates as current mineral resources or reserves. Playfair has not undertaken any independent investigation of the resource estimates nor has it independently analyzed the results of the previous exploration work in order to verify the resources, and therefore the historical estimates should not be relied upon. However, Playfair believes that these historical estimates provide a conceptual indication of the potential of the occurrences and are relevant to ongoing exploration.
Mr. Michael Moore, P. Geo is the qualified person who has reviewed the technical information contained in this release on behalf of Playfair.

Playfair was a pretty good trade this fall going from mid .30's and peaking at just over .70 in mid November. They are steadily working the Grey River Tungsten deposit towards feasibility and have just passed another milestone in that process by gettign favorable metallurgy results as well as capital cost estimates for construction of a gravity separation plant for this project from an independent research company.
This milestone and currently weak share price provide an excellent trading and investor entry point alike. With traditional mining season starting to gear up, cyclical pressures, anticipation of fast tracking the Grey River Tungsten project, and the potential to add to reserves at Grey River significantly will see Playfair testing recent highs of .70 with a breakout imminent if it can hold the .70 - .72 mark.

0.4 (205) / 0.415 (25)

We have been way oversold for some time now and are very undervalued. I think Tungsten will shine again soon. And on a technical level, seeing how this is oversold and under its 200 day ma @.49 and 50 day ma $.53, this is going to rebound hard. Not to mention increasing Tungsten prices and promising results from this company.

"The ore is ideally suited to inexpensive and efficient treatment by gravity concentration."
Playfair receives Grey River metallurgy, cost estimates
2007-01-15 16:18 ET - News Release
Mr. Neil Briggs reports
PLAYFAIR MINING LTD.: FAVOURABLE METALLURGY AND CAPITAL COST ESTIMATES FOR GREY RIVER TUNGSTEN
Playfair Mining Ltd. has received a favourable metallurgical assessment of a bulk sample from the company's Grey River, Nfld., deposit and has also received a positive review of this report from an independent third party.
Playfair Mining commissioned SGS Lakefield Research Europe to conduct metallurgical testing of a wolframite-bearing bulk sample from Grey River, Nfld. SGS also prepared a preliminary capital cost estimate for the construction of a traditional gravity separation plant for this project. Playfair then commissioned a review of the SGS report from GraviTa Inc., an independent third party which noted, "The ore is ideally suited to inexpensive and efficient treatment by gravity concentration."
SGS is the metallurgical market leader in metallurgy, particularly in the development of gravity flow sheets, having significant experience in gravity flow sheet development worldwide. With more than 7,000 employees worldwide, it has significant metallurgical facilities in Canada, Chile, Australia, Mexico, South Africa and the United Kingdom.
Mike Hallewell, BSc, CEng, general manager, metallurgical operations, Cornwall, U.K., was the qualified person that supervised the testwork which was a follow-up to initial metallurgical scoping testwork carried out on a wolframite-bearing sample from Grey River in 2006 that indicated the material was amenable to a simple traditional gravity concentration process.
In part, the SGS phase two scoping testwork report states, "The estimated capital cost of a traditional gravity separation plant is $3.7-million (U.S.), the major share of this capital being crushing and concentrate dressing sections."
While the construction of a gravity separation plant is only one component of the potential capital costs that would be required to bring the Grey River project into production, the importance of this initial cost estimate is explained by Neil Briggs, president of Playfair Mining, who stated: "Relative to the historical resource on this property, the opportunity to potentially expand this deposit through additional underground work, and the current supply and demand fundamentals for tungsten itself, this construction cost estimate is very attractive as Playfair works to advance this deposit. It has been the company's goal to put Grey River into production in the most cost-efficient manner possible and this initial capital cost estimate for the separation plant assists us dramatically in working towards this objective."
The independent review of the SGS report was carried out by Richard Burt, president of GraviTa, who is recognized as one of the world's leading experts on gravity concentration technology. He has published more than 50 papers on a variety of subjects including the authoritative work on gravity concentration processes, equipment selection and plant design, titled, "Gravity Concentration Technology" which was published by Elsevier in 1984. Mr. Burt has 43 years of experience in minerals processing including 40 years of experience related to gravity concentration. Mr. Burt concludes: "Having reviewed the reports and correspondence between SGS and Playfair Mining, provided by Playfair for review, the writer can confirm that the work to date has been appropriate, and successfully carried out, allowing suitable, phased, decisions to be made regarding the potential for proper treatment of the Grey River tungsten ore.
Burt of GraviTa, "The third and final stage of the test program will develop the optimum flow sheet, and provide enough information for a suitable plant to be engineered, and for the owners to develop their project economics with full confidence especially with regard to the optimum recovery and concentrate grade."
Following the recommendations set forth in the phase two scoping testwork from SGS and the positive review of these recommendations by GraviTa, Playfair intends to collect a five-ton representative sample from underground at Grey River in order to carry out pilot-scale metallurgical testing to confirm, refine and improve the results to date.
In conjunction with a program of underground exploration, Playfair will use the metallurgical data contained in the SGS reports along with the initial capital cost estimates for the construction of a gravity separation plant to further this advanced-stage property toward production. This advancement toward production at Grey River comes at a time when Playfair is simultaneously executing aggressive exploration programs on other tungsten projects.
Current tungsten market
Playfair Mining's focus on advancing its Canadian tungsten projects toward production comes at a time of strong tungsten prices (relative to prices experienced prior to 2005). "We have been way oversold for some time now and are very undervalued. I think Tungsten will shine again soon. And on a technical level, seeing how this is oversold and under its 200 day ma @.49 and 50 day ma $.53, this is going to rebound hard. Not to mention increasing Tungsten prices and promising results from this company."
Ignore the clownish comments of Steve the Clown (guess his last handle). Time for a PLY rebound and much moneymaking from my favorite money machine team of Don and Neil who have never let me down

Our system posted a BUY-IF today. The previous SELL recommendation was issued on 12.12.2006 (38) days ago, when the stock price was 0.6000. Since then PLY has fallen -35.00% .
A bullish pattern has developed and a BUY-IF alert is issued today. The task is now to confirm the validity of this bullish pattern. We will guide you through this process but the prime star of this game is nobody but you. First you must do your homework. A good starting point may be to keep an eye on after-hours and futures trading to get preliminary hints about the direction of the market. Related news, events, economic data, and the world stock markets should also be closely followed prior to confirmation session.
There are three possible cases of confirmation. You have to follow the next session carefully to check if these cases will hold or not:
The market opens with an upward gap, signaling a bullish sentiment in the first case. Your benchmark will be the opening price. If the prices stay over the benchmark, go long. Any white candlestick with an upward gap is a valid confirmation criterion.
In the second case, ...

We are very happy with the news releases that have recently been issued by the company. The company is advancing Grey River and has flown an airborne in Granite Lake. We have a really good basket of projects, have a solid treasury and are working hard. We hope, like you, that this hard work and these fundamentals are soon recognized differently in the marketplace.
I can call this a good response.
With 43-101 soon to be released, playfair is headed for a good run in the near future.

Da sollte man lieber in Hydroflo invetieren...

Metals CatalogChinese exports of energy, resource, and pollution intensive products fell sharply last year, according a report released by the Ministry of Commerce yesterday. In 2006, exports of crude oil fell 21.4 percent, finished oil products dropped 11.5 percent and coal slid 11.7 percent.
Aluminium ingot exports dipped 8.1 percent compared to the previous year.
In the first 11 months of last year, exports of tungsten, antimony and tin dropped 10.4 percent compared to the corresponding period a year earlier, according to the MOFCOM report.
In contrast, China's export of machinery and electronic products increased by 28.8 percent and high-tech product exports rose 29.0 percent from the previous year. Machinery and electronic products make up 56.7 percent of China's total exports while high-tech products make up 29 percent, the report said.
There is some overlap between the high-tech products and machinery and electronic product categories, so some products may be counted in both categories, a MOFCOM official told Interfax.
Either way you slice the pie, Playfair will get it's piece real soon.
Supply and demand, China starts cutting supply and the price will rise. To the moon Alice and take Zigs and Steve with you.

PLY has derzeit eine 100% ige Mehrheit an vier kanadischen Tungstenprojekten in fortgeschrittenem Stadium.
Playfair's* historische Gesamtresourcen an Tungsten
Grey River (Neufundland): 473.000 Tonnen 0,97 %igen WO3's (458.000 MTU's)
Risby (Yukon): 2.700.000 Tonnen 0,81% igen WO3's (2.187.000 MTU's)
Lened (NWT): 737.000 Tonnen 1,14% igen WO3's (840,200 MTU's)
Clea (Nordwest Territorium) 257.000 Tonnen 0,93% igen WO3's (239.000 MTU's)

* China (84,1 %)
![](http://img.wallstreet-online.de/smilies/eek.gif)
![](http://img.wallstreet-online.de/smilies/eek.gif)
![](http://img.wallstreet-online.de/smilies/eek.gif)
* Russland (5,9 %)
* Kanada (4,2 %)
* Österreich (2,1 %)
* Portugal (1,1 %)
Ringen verarbeitet.

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) - Canadian stocks closed slightly lower Friday as gold and other metals prices declined, but technology stocks finished the session with gains.
The S&P/TSX Composite Index (CA:SPTSX: news, chart, profile) fell 33 points, or 0.25%, to 13,111.57. But advancers beat decliners 857 to 674. Trading volume was 379.4 million shares, down from Thursday's total of 439 million shares.
The benchmark index finished higher for the week, by 1%.
The outlook for Canadian equities is good, with cold weather boosting energy stocks, strong demand for other commodities, and signs the North American economy is humming along without significant price pressures.
However, commodities lost significant ground Friday as copper prices slid to 10-month lows and gold futures fell from recent gains. The gold sub-index declined nearly 1% and the metals and mining sector sank 3.4%, dragging the materials group down 1.7%.

.........wenn ich die nachfolgende NEWS richtig deute,

bezahlt machen !!!
(14.02.2007/ac/n/a)

good trades & schönes WE!

I called the company yesterday as I have been very discouraged with the current share price and the fact that we have not heard anything about the 43-101 compliance. I talked with Wayne for over an hour! He was a wealth of info. The 43-101 paperwork, numbers and everything else that goes into it has been compiled and is being handed to the Certified Engineer. Now what Playfiar does not know is how many companies may be in front of us in the line. But once the certified engineer starts with the Playfair file is should take 6 to 8 weeks for finalization.
Because there has been this delay in getting the 43-101 done, Playfair has gone on to other items on the list to get the property ready to mine. The 5 tonnes of material, talked about in a recent NR, was sent to a speciality engineering firm in England to be divided up and run thru several different milling methods. This will tell managemnet which milling method will be the most cost effective and thats the mill they will install at the mine.
The road from the bridge at the village, to the mine, has been repaired and upgraded to handle the heavy equipment that the mine needs.
The entrance to the mine has been cleared of debris and structural repair done in advance of a safety inspection from governmental engineers.
An Enviromental firm has been hired to do the enviromental impact study and has already started with that. I was told that could take as long as 18 to 24 months.
The up shot of all of this is that the management of Playfiar is NOT sitting around. They are actively doing anything that they can get done, while they wait for the paper pushers to do their thing.

Pinnacle Digest: Playfair Mining: Grey River Update
3/6/2007
Mar 06, 2007 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX News Network) --
Playfair Mining Ltd (TSX-V: PLY) had an uneventful day in the markets Monday, as shareholders witnessed no movement in their company's share value following the exchange of 7,400 shares trading hands by the closing bell. The share price remained steady at $0.33 throughout the day, leaving investors to wonder, what is going to happen tomorrow for this small cap company? In the article below, PinnacleDigest intends to further explore Playfair Mining and the gold sector in which it resides in. To continue this read and find out why our client base continues to grow, come explore www.pinnacledigest.com.
Gold is in the news once again, as the popular commodity is showing recent weakness because of domestic and foreign events. It seems that gold's spot price has been falling steadily amid a devastating week in the equity markets. In fact the spot price for gold dropped to its lowest point in six weeks. According to an article by Reuters, gold has been sold over the last week to pay for losses on equity markets. The times have gotten so bad that some people have had to take their profits on gold to meet margin calls on stocks. "It's the good for bad trade ... It started last week when China stocks collapsed." With markets seeing triple digit losses the question is, where does the gold spot price from here?
In corporate news, representatives from Playfair Mining reported that the company has started a search for a full-time Project Manager to focus on advancing Playfair's wholly-owned Grey River tungsten deposit towards production.
Playfair will be advertising for this Project Manager position in industry trade publications as well as within more general national media publications. The Project Manager's sole responsibility will be to advance the Grey River deposit towards production in the most time-efficient and economically attractive manner for shareholders. The Project Manager will be expected to create a detailed mining plan for the project for consideration and evaluation by management and outside mining consultants engaged by the company.
In preparation for this next stage of property advancement, Playfair has contracted Newfoundland Mine Services Incorporated to rehabilitate the access to the underground entrance. This work will include improving the road from Grey River to the portal, reinforcing the existing bridge, excavating the portal and old dump site area, re-timbering the portal area, and laying track at the entrance. This work will be supervised by Donald Seymour of Baie Verte, Newfoundland. Mr. Seymour has 37 years of mining experience including supervisory roles in mining development and production. The cost estimate for this preliminary work is approximately $53,000 Canadian funds and a crew from Newfoundland Mine Services Incorporated has been mobilized to start this work.
According to the company's management team, the improvement work on the property infrastructure noted above is being completed to allow the company to cost effectively obtain a 5 tonne bulk sample that is representative of the deposit above the current adit for metallurgical testing. This will likely require taking small slashes from raises that have already been driven, totaling approximately 10 tonnes of material that would then be removed to surface for crushing, sampling and mixing at a metallurgical laboratory. Once this bulk sample is obtained, Playfair intends to retain SGS Minerals Services in Cornwall, England to perform pilot scale test work on the material. PinnacleDigest is interested in this company's progress and will be watching for additional corporate developments in the coming months.

aber zeigt was möglich währe.

Bin wieder einige ZEit unterwegs...
Gruss an Euch

Freunde,

Was habe ich da bloß angerichtet.

@sos:

With the price of moly going through the roof, it only adds to the value of the Granite lake property. Playfair is currently waiting for approval from the NL goverment giving them the O.K. to enter the mine shaft and remove the bulk sample.
Playfair plans to drill the Risby property this year at a cost of some 2 million. 43-101 is taking longer than expected, but that being said we are alot closer than we were 6 months ago.

Playfair Mining Ltd.: Environmental Baseline Study in Grey River, Newfoundland
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - April 10, 2007) - Playfair Mining (TSX VENTURE:PLY) is pleased to announce the expansion of responsibilities of Jacques Whitford Ltd., environmental consultants, to design and carry out a baseline environmental study for the company's Grey River tungsten project.
The commencement of this baseline environmental study will be the first step towards the completion of an Environmental Assessment for the project. The company has consulted with Jacques Whitford Ltd. (www.jacqueswhitford.com), who has been contracted by the company to begin the permitting process necessary for the company's planned underground drill program. The retention of Jacques Whitford Ltd. to undertake the baseline study is an important step in achieving the company's goal to advance Grey River through environmental assessment and into production.
Playfair's Grey River property is a high-grade tungsten deposit with historical resources(i) (calculated by ASARCO in 1970) totaling more than 10 million pounds (458,000 Metric Ton Units) of tungsten. In addition to commencing the baseline study on the property, Playfair has recently worked onsite to rehabilitate road and underground portal access, which will allow the company to take a 5 tonne representative sample above the current adit for metallurgical testing. With planned activity in Grey River increasing as the project advances towards production, Playfair has started to search for a Project Manager whose duties will include drafting a detailed mining plan for this deposit.
In addition to Grey River, Playfair owns three other high-grade tungsten deposits in Canada. The Risby, Yukon deposit is the largest of these high-grade deposits with more than 48 million pounds or 2,187,000 MTUs (2.7 million tonnes at 0.81% WO3) of historical high grade tungsten resources(i) (calculated by HBED in 1982).
Playfair's rapid advancement of Grey River comes at a time of very strong tungsten market, with current tungsten prices at approximately US $11.79 per pound (US $260 per MTU).
About the Company
Playfair owns 4 tungsten deposits(i), Grey River (Newfoundland), Risby (Yukon), Lened (Northwest Territories) and Clea (Yukon). In addition, Playfair controls an early stage tungsten project at Granite Lake (Newfoundland) with excellent exploration targets already being identified.

About Tungsten
Tungsten is an extremely hard, heavy, steel-grey to white metal that is remarkable for its robust physical properties and vast uses and cannot be substituted in many industrial applications. Tungsten has the highest melting point of all metallic elements. Tungsten prices are quoted per Metric Ton Unit of contained tungsten trioxide (WO3). One MTU contains 10 kilograms of WO3 and is the standard weight measure of the tungsten trade. Ammonium Paratungstate ("APT") is an intermediate product in the production of tungsten metal for which prices are available. A price of US$260 per MTU equates to US$26 per kilogram or US$11.79 per pound.

Playfair's primary focus has been the Grey River deposit where consistently favourable results have advanced the project towards production.

Produktionsstart sei in rund eineinhalb Jahren.
(Ausgabe 25/07a vom 19. Juni 2007) (20.06.2007/ac/a/a)

fürwahr Wahnsinn was hier abgeht in den letzten Wochen!

Weiteres Urteil: dabeibleiben

DGAP-News: Playfair Mining Ltd.: Playfair Mining beginnt mit Explorationsarbeiten in Granite Lake
Playfair Mining Ltd. / Sonstiges
19.07.2007
DGAP 19.07.2007
