Automakers` Internet Site Expects Antitrust Approval (Update1)

Traverse City, Michigan, Aug. 8 (Bloomberg) -- The Internet purchasing exchange being set up by General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co. and DaimlerChrysler AG is confident of winning U.S. and European antitrust approval, a co-chairman of the site said.
The Covisint exchange expects U.S. Federal Trade Commission approval within 60 days, said Alice Miles, who represents Ford at the venture. The government agencies ``will see the substantial benefits to manufacturers, suppliers and consumers,`` she said.
The U.S. agency in March said it was reviewing plans for the exchange to make the arrangement wouldn`t lead to collusion to lower purchase prices, and recently asked for more information. Covisint also is awaiting European Union regulatory approval.
The FTC investigation ``is going along well,`` Miles said at the University of Michigan`s annual automotive seminar in Traverse City, Michigan. ``We are answering all the questions.``
GM, Ford and DaimlerChrysler decided in February to combine online buying to increase purchasing leverage and cut costs. Automakers Renault SA, Nissan Motor Co. and Toyota Motor Corp. later said they would participate. Delphi Automotive Systems Corp, Lear Corp., Dana Corp. and other major parts suppliers also have said they would join.
The FTC held a two-day seminar in late June to ask suppliers how they felt about the proposed exchange. ``Suppliers said, `We want this,``` Miles said.
Covisint is in discussions with 25 suppliers and is talking with other manufacturers interested in joining, she said.
The exchange has set up a European office in Stuttgart, Germany, managed primarily by DaimlerChrysler and Renault. Two weeks ago, the Stuttgart office hosted an information session for 250 European suppliers, Miles said.
Covisint also is setting up offices in Asia, which will be managed by Nissan and Ford`s Mazda unit.
The search for a chief executive for Covisint is ``very active,`` Miles said, though the exchange doesn`t plan to choose a CEO until after getting FTC approval. Covisint wants a non- automotive leader, she said.
Covisint has a temporary base in Southfield, Michigan, and doesn`t plan to pick a permanent location until the chief executive is chosen, Miles said.

Vielleicht auch deshalb CMRC nachboerslich 53$
Hm, klingt eigentlich nicht schlecht.
Aber was ist mit dem 8-K SEC-Filing von CommerceOne mit dem sinngemäßen Inhalt "the FTC requested more information and we [cmrc] will respond as soon as possible, but it will take a significant amount of time to produce this information."?
