Perma-Fix Environmental Services, Inc. (ticker: PESI, exchange: NASDAQ) News Release - 15-Nov-2000

      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Perma-Fix Environmental Reports Record Revenue and EBITDA for the Quarter and Nine Months Ended September 30, 2000

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 15, 2000--PERMA-FIX ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES, INC. (Nasdaq:PESI - news; GERMANY:PES.BE) reported that consolidated revenues for the quarter ended September 30, 2000, totaled a record $15,360,000, as compared to revenues of $13,858,000 as reported by the Company for the comparative three month period ended September 30, 1999. The Company also reported that it achieved net income of $657,000 for the quarter ended September 30, 2000, or $.03 per fully diluted share, versus net income of $598,000 or $.03 per fully diluted share for the comparable three month period ended September 30, 1999. In addition, during the recent quarter ended September 30, 2000, Perma-Fix achieved EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization) of $2,055,000, also a record for the Company, as compared to $1,741,000 for the quarter ended September 30, 1999.

Perma-Fix also reported that consolidated revenues increased by approximately 34.7% to a record $43,441,000 during the nine months ended September 30, 2000, as compared with revenues of $32,243,000 as reported for the comparative nine month period ended September 30, 1999. For the nine months ended September 30, 2000, net income totaled $532,000, or $.02 per fully diluted share, versus a net income of $1,505,000 or $.08 per fully diluted share for the comparative nine month period ended September 30, 1999. EBITDA for the nine-month period ended September 30, 2000, was a record $4,370,000, as compared to $3,674,000 for the nine months of 1999.

The record growth in revenues and the return to profitability achieved during the quarter is principally the result of growth in our nuclear treatment group. This growth was the result of the North Florida advanced mixed waste treatment facility, which began commercial operations under its expanded permit in September 2000 and the acquisition of DSSI completed on August 31, 2000. In addition, the Company also achieved strong internal growth within its industrial waste treatment facilities, as a result of increased customer demand for the Company`s technologies and services.

Dr. Louis Centofanti, President of Perma-Fix, commented, ``I am very proud of the record growth that we have achieved during the most recent quarter and over the last nine months. The revenues at each of our waste management operating facilities have reflected strong growth during 2000. I am most excited about the progress of our mixed waste treatment group. In the third quarter of 2000 the group accomplished two major milestones. In September we began commercial operations under our expanded permit at the advanced mixed waste treatment facility in North Florida and completed the acquisition of the DSSI mixed waste treatment facility in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. This resulted in a return to profitability in the month of September for the nuclear group. The profitability of our mixed waste group for the first eight months of 2000 was adversely affected by construction, preparing for our new permit and the acquisition of DSSI. With our North Florida facility currently operating under its expanded permit and the acquisition of DSSI behind us, we look forward to these strategic investments continuing to translate into near term contributions of both revenues and earnings.``

Dr. Louis F. Centofanti, added, ``The commercial operation of our new advanced mixed waste treatment facility has been the top goal of the Company. The ability to treat the vast quantities of mixed waste stored throughout the U.S. will provide the opportunity to enhance our company, while allowing us to be part of solving one of the greatest environmental problems facing our country and the nuclear industry. The overwhelming response from our customers indicates a great demand for such a nuclear non-incineration treatment process.``
