Wer weis näheres zu Identix?
Das ist ein US- Hersteller von Sicherheitssoftware ( Erkennungssoftware. Fingerprint, etc)
Könnte doch 2004 eine guten Aufschwung hinlegen.
Chart hat ein doppeltes Tief ausgebildet.
Ab jetzt könnte es aufwärts gehen.
Ich hätte gerne Meinungen dazu
Einstieg oder nicht
Bin selber bereits seit Jahren investiert.

gestern gut gehalten.
Ebenfalls eine gute Handelswoche

Identix Reports Fourth Quarter Results; Announces More Than $5 Million in New Orders for Biometric Products
2004-08-12 06:00 ET - News Release
MINNETONKA, Minn. -- (Business Wire) -- Aug. 12, 2004
Cash and Marketable Securities Balance Unchanged at $45.4 Million;
Expects 30-45% Year-Over-Year Revenue Growth in Fiscal 2005
Identix Incorporated (Nasdaq:IDNX) today reported financial
results for its fiscal 2004 fourth quarter and year ended June 30,
2004. Fiscal 2004 fourth quarter revenue was $16.2 million, up 18%
when compared to revenue of $13.7 million in the same quarter last
year. Fiscal 2004 fourth quarter loss from continuing operations was
$4.6 million, or $0.05 per fully diluted share, compared to a loss
from continuing operations of $159.5 million, or $1.86 per fully
diluted share in the year-earlier quarter, which included a charge of
$154.8 million or $1.81 per share related to the impairment of
goodwill. Gross margin for the fiscal 2004 fourth quarter was 35
percent, down from year-earlier gross margin of 36 percent.
Revenue for the fiscal 2004 year was $55.2 million, with a loss
from continuing operations of $23.5 million, or $0.27 per fully
diluted share. This compares to revenue of $52.7 million for the
fiscal 2003 year ended June 30, 2003, with a loss from continuing
operations of $183.9 million, or $2.16 per fully diluted share.
As a result of the Company`s sale of its project management
services subsidiary, Identix Public Sector, Inc. (IPS), in February
2004, the Company`s financial statement presentations have been
reclassified to present IPS as a discontinued operation. All prior
period financial information and comparisons in this press release and
all future financial reports issued by the Company will reflect the
reclassification of the IPS business net operating results as
discontinued operations.
The Company`s net loss for the fiscal 2004 fourth quarter, which
includes the impact of the discontinued IPS business, was $4.6
million, or $0.05 per fully diluted share compared to a net loss of
$159.1 million, or $1.86 per fully diluted share for the year earlier
quarter. The Company`s net loss for the fiscal 2004 year, which
includes the impact and sale of the discontinued IPS business, was
$18.4 million or $0.21 per fully diluted share, compared to a net loss
of $187.4 million or $2.20 per fully diluted share in the year earlier
period.
Identix also announced today that it has received several large
purchase orders from government agencies totaling more than $5
million. The new orders are all expected to ship in the Company`s
fiscal year ending June 30, 2005. The customers, who are unnamed
either due to their request or for competitive reasons, include U.S.
state and federal agencies, as well as an international government
agency.
"Our fiscal 2004-year was marked by the achievement of several
significant strategic and technological initiatives, as well as many
important contract wins," said Identix President and CEO Dr. Joseph J.
Atick. "While we exited our fiscal fourth quarter with revenue
slightly below the lower end of our previously provided expectations,
our net loss was within the range previously provided. Over the course
of the fiscal 2004 year," he said, "we broadened our product suite
in-line with current and future customer requirements, we strengthened
our leadership team at both the Board and executive level, and we
sharpened our focus on higher-margin biometrics products, while
maintaining a strong, debt-free balance sheet."
"The hard work we accomplished last year is paying off," Atick
continued. "Including the previously announced initial $2.3 million
purchase order from the Department of Homeland Security, we have also
now received several seven figure orders for our biometric products,
all with expected shipment in fiscal 2005. To put this into better
perspective, throughout our fiscal 2004 year we delivered on only one
product purchase order that exceeded one million dollars. We see
sizeable initial awards starting to be made in the biometrics market
for established technologies now, and, as reflected in our revenue
growth expectations, Identix expects to benefit from this positive
development."
Current Fiscal 2005 Financial Outlook
The Company is providing the following ranges of expectations for
its fiscal 2005 year ending June 30, 2005. Identix cautions that these
financial expectations are forward-looking statements that fall under
the provisions contained in the Company`s Safe Harbor statement.
Identix cautions that delivery on orders, as well as product mix that
could impact gross margin, can move or vary from one quarter to
another, which could materially adversely impact the Company`s current
expectations.
Fiscal year 2005 revenue is expected to increase 30 - 45% over
fiscal year 2004 comparable revenue to between $72 - $80 million, with
a net loss per share for the full year of between $0.17 - 0.13 per
share vs. a net loss of $0.27 per share in the fiscal year 2004.
Gross margin is expected to be in the 35-39 percent range for the
fiscal 2005 year. Operating expenses are expected to be stable
throughout the year at approximately $10.5 - $11.0 million per
quarter, which includes expected amortization of approximately $1.3
million per quarter.

Identix Awarded Contracts from California Law Enforcement Agencies for Full Hand Live Scan Systems; Combined Orders Valued at $500,000
2004-08-17 08:20 ET - News Release
MINNETONKA, Minn. -- (Business Wire) -- Aug. 17, 2004
Identix Incorporated (Nasdaq:IDNX), the world`s leading
multi-biometric technology company, announced today that it has
recently been awarded contracts from California law enforcement
agencies for Identix(R) TouchPrint(TM) 3800 Full-Hand Live Scan
Systems. The orders, which total approximately $500,000 in value, are
all expected to ship and be installed in the Company`s fiscal 2005
first quarter ending September 30, 2004.
The TouchPrint 3800 employs a proprietary cylindrical imager that
enables the full hand - including the carpal crease, cup of the palm,
and fingertips - to be captured in a single, intuitive step. There is
no `stitching together` of partial palm and finger images, which can
result in images being associated with the wrong record. Proprietary
optics capture resolution enhances image quality, giving operators
optimal ridge detail information that can be used to help solve more
crimes. Users of the TouchPrint 3800 have attested to the systems`
ease of use, high image quality and reliability.
Identix President & CEO Dr. Joseph J. Atick commented, "California
continues to be a demonstrated leader in the law enforcement community
with its commitment to adopt the latest technologies available to
assist its officers in performing their jobs in an easier and more
efficient manner. We believe the benefits and value proposition of our
full hand scanner are becoming clear to our current customer base
across the United States, for which we have installed more than 7,500
10-print live scan systems. We began to see initial market penetration
for our full hand scanner in the second half of our fiscal 2004-year,"
Atick said. As more and more states and law enforcement departments
throughout the Nation begin to realize the advantages in additional
data collection, suspect processing and crime solving that Identix`
full hand scanners offer, we believe the demand for our full hand live
scan systems will continue to grow."

MINNETONKA, Minn. -- (Business Wire) -- Sept. 15, 2004
PCPA Places New Order under Previously Announced Statewide Blanket
Purchase Agreement with Identix
Identix Incorporated (Nasdaq:IDNX), the world`s leading
multi-biometrics security technology company, announced that it has
received a purchase order from the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police
Association (PCPA) to provide Identix(R) TouchPrint(TM) 3800 Full-Hand
Live Scan Systems for deployment to select law enforcement agencies
across the state. The purchase order, which is valued in excess of
$550,000, was placed by PCPA under the previously announced statewide
Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) awarded to Identix in December 2003.
The BPA has a one-year term, with two additional one-year options that
may be exercised by mutual agreement of Identix and PCPA. Including
this order, PCPA has placed orders under the BPA with an aggregate
value of approximately $1,050,000 for Identix` line of live scan
systems. The live scan systems under the purchase order announced
today are expected to ship and be installed over the course of the
Company`s fiscal 2005 first and second quarters ending September 30,
2004 and December 31, 2004, respectively.
Identix President & CEO Dr. Joseph J. Atick commented, "We
appreciate Pennsylvania`s commitment to keeping its law enforcement
agencies equipped with leading-edge technological tools and are
extremely proud to be a continuing and integral part of its Statewide
biometric data sharing network. This new order under the BPA from
PCPA, coupled with our recently announced purchase orders for full
hand live scan systems from a number of other unnamed law enforcement
agencies, is further support of our belief that there is growing
demand in the law enforcement arena to upgrade to new technology. We
look forward to supporting Pennsylvania under this BPA as the State
continues to roll-out Identix live scan systems to law enforcement
agencies throughout the State."

Identix Wins the U.S. Department of State Facial Recognition Solicitation
2004-09-29 06:00 ET - News Release
MINNETONKA, Minn. -- (Business Wire) -- Sept. 29, 2004
Identix Led Team to Immediately Begin Deployment of Facial
Recognition Systems for DoS Visa Processing
Identix Incorporated (Nasdaq:IDNX), the world`s leading
multi-biometrics technology company, announced today that it has been
selected by the U.S. Department of State (DoS) to supply and integrate
its biometric knowledge discovery engines (ABIS(TM)) for large scale
facial recognition systems for DoS visa processing. The award to
Identix is part of DoS`s mandate to augment its automated
fraud-detection assistance capabilities through the use of facial
recognition to screen for duplicates, aliases and for faces on a watch
list prior to issuance of a visa. Identix was selected after a
competitive bidding process and detailed technical evaluation as the
sole recipient of the DoS`s Facial Recognition System and Integration
Support contract.
The facial recognition system Identix is integrating into the
DoS`s visa application processes will be the largest deployment of
facial recognition technology to-date in the world and is expected to
provide functionality that includes:
-- Initial enrollment of approximately 35 million legacy visa
images;
-- Acquiring and enrolling approximately 8 million new visa
images in the initial year of the contract, as well as in each
option year exercised by DoS;
-- Acquiring and enrolling at least 10 million e-Diversity Visa
applicants per year;
-- Matching against variable galleries and databases provided by
DoS;
-- Processing up to 2,000 matches per hour.
The award to Identix consists of a one-year base contract with
four one-year options to renew in favor of DoS. The contract contains
multiple program specifications and project deployment options. The
initial scope of work under the contract involves immediate supply,
integration and deployment of facial recognition systems for visa and
e-Diversity Visa applicant processing. If authorized and funded by
DoS, potential additional project deployments under the contract could
include the design and implementation of a facial recognition system
for the passport application processing environment. Identix expects
to recognize more than $2.2 million over the next 12 months from the
initial options that have been exercised to-date under this contract.
"We are extremely proud to be selected by the DoS to play such a
primary and critical technological role in protecting our Nation while
helping to ensure that the U.S. is able to maintain an open door
policy for legitimate visitors," said Identix President & CEO Dr.
Joseph J. Atick. "The DoS and its Bureau of Consular Affairs maintains
some of the largest databases of face images in existence, making the
integration of facial recognition technology into their existing
processes a logical and powerful tool.
"The integration of our ABIS 3.0 biometric knowledge discovery
platforms into the DoS visa issuance programs is by far the largest
facial recognition project in the world to-date, and is a most
significant landmark project for border security and for the
biometrics industry as a whole," Atick continued. "The combination of
this award from DoS with our recent 5-year blanket purchase agreement
from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for our fingerprint
biometric live scan systems, further validates Identix` position as
the global leader in multi-biometric technologies. It is an honor and
a privilege for Identix to have our patience, hard work and
persistence in the biometric arena recognized by two such important
and influential agencies. We look forward to continuing to help meet
the identification and enhanced security needs of federal, state, and
local governments, as well as commercial entities, on a worldwide
basis."
As part of its responsibilities for issuing visas to foreign
nationals, the DoS has the obligation to verify applicant identities,
prevent the issuance of visas to those who pose national security
threats, and to prevent the issuance of visas to applicants using
fraudulent aliases. In furtherance of these responsibilities, and
based on DoS maintaining some of the largest face image databases in
the world, the agency wanted the ability to compare biometric facial
images of applicants against large databases from multiple agencies,
such as DoS, the FBI, and the Department of Homeland Security.
According to the DoS, the addition of facial recognition
technology is expected to increase homeland security and better
facilitate the anti-fraud goals of DoS`s existing travel document
issuance processes in the following ways:
-- The automated detection of applicant fraud through the
one-to-many matching of the submitted photo with those already
in the database;
-- The verification of the identity of an applicant for visa
renewal through the one-to-one matching of his or her
submitted photo with one already in the database;
-- The detection of wanted or missing persons through the
one-to-many matching of submitted photos against a limited
"watch-list" of images.
Identix is the prime contractor on the project. The Identix team
includes two leading systems integration firms: San Diego, CA-based
Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) and New York
City-based, International Biometric Group (IBG).
About Identix ABIS
ABIS 3.0 is Identix latest generation multi-biometric knowledge
discovery in databases and search engine powered by Identix` FaceIt(R)
G6 technology, which integrates Identix` proprietary skin biometric
technology. ABIS 3.0 provides increased scalability up to 100 million
images, coupled with image quality control modules to help ensure
maximum accuracy.
The ABIS System is Identix` advanced multi-biometric knowledge
discovery in databases and search system, designed for developing
large-scale, one-to-many systems, with specific applicability to end
user ID programs such as Passport and Visa issuance, National IDs,
DMVs and large-scale enterprise employee ID issuance and verification.
The ABIS System contains built-in features such as failover protection
that are required in an enterprise environment. Its architecture is
modular, making it easy for users to expand their system as needs
grow. Identix` ABIS System also integrates easily with existing
business applications using XML-based web services.
ABIS 3.0 is the first Identix product incorporating skin biometric
technology into a facial search system. The skin subcomponent utilizes
the micro-features of the skin for significantly enhanced accuracy and
has clearly distinguished between identical twins in Identix tests.
The combination of skin biometrics with a considerably enhanced FaceIt
Feature quality control subcomponent provides uniformly accurate
performance across a wide variety of facial image resolutions.

Identix Reports First Quarter Results; Top-line Performance at High End of Company Expectations; Bottom-line Beats Expectations
2004-10-28 06:00 ET - News Release
MINNETONKA, Minn. -- (Business Wire) -- Oct. 28, 2004
Identix Incorporated (Nasdaq:IDNX) today reported
financial results for its fiscal 2005 first quarter ended September
30, 2004. Fiscal 2005 first quarter revenue was $16.6 million, up 33
percent when compared to revenue of $12.5 million in the same quarter
last year. Fiscal 2005 first quarter loss from continuing operations
was $4.8 million, or $0.05 per fully diluted share, compared to a loss
from continuing operations of $4.9 million, or $0.06 per fully diluted
share in the year-earlier quarter. The net loss for the fiscal 2005
first quarter included a special charge of $451,000 related to the
increase in the Company`s lease obligation reserve related to its
vacated facility in California. Gross margin for the fiscal 2005 first
quarter declined as expected to 30 percent of revenue, compared to 38
percent of revenue in the year earlier quarter. The expected decline
in gross margin, as detailed in the Company`s August 12, 2004 press
release, is due to Identix` planned upfront investment in certain
customer programs. The Company believes the return on this investment
and a shift in product mix will result in significantly higher gross
margin between 40 and 44 percent of revenue in the second half of its
fiscal 2005 year.
The Company`s balance sheet remains solid with no long-term debt
and a combined cash and marketable securities balance of $43.8 million
as of September 30, 2004, down by $1.6 million from June 30, 2004.
The Company`s net loss for the fiscal 2005
first quarter was not impacted by the discontinued IPS business. The
net loss for the year earlier quarter, including the impact of the
discontinued IPS business was $4.7 million, or $0.05 per fully diluted
share.
"This was a quarter of record biometrics-related revenue for
Identix," said Identix President & CEO Dr. Joseph J. Atick. "Our
multi-year focus on, and commitment to, the government sectors as the
key markets for adoption paid off with Identix receiving and
announcing purchase orders for more than $11.5 million in federal,
state and local government awards during the quarter. The quarter was
highlighted by our award from the Department of State to create the
world`s largest facial recognition program to assist in the
application and issuance processes of travel documents. This
significant win," Atick continued, "coupled with our ongoing
involvement in providing Identix ten-print live scan systems to
support US-VISIT, gives Identix a leading role in the two highest
profile biometrics projects ever awarded, and in our view sets the
stage for continued worldwide adoption of biometrics."
Identix CFO Elissa Lindsoe commented, "We began fiscal 2005 with
in-house purchase orders representing approximately 25 percent of our
expected full fiscal year biometrics product revenue. This is a
significant shift from prior years, where it was not uncommon to have
only five percent or less in-house at the start of the fiscal year.
Continued strong order flow for our biometrics products brought us in
near the top end of our range of revenue expectations, while solid
expense management enabled us to beat our bottom line expectations.
The increased volume of orders has also provided us with enhanced
visibility for the remainder of our fiscal year. As of the beginning
of our second quarter," Lindsoe continued, "more than 35 percent of
our projected second through fourth quarter product revenues were
supported by in-house purchase orders. This trend further validates
our expectation that fiscal 2005 revenue will be 30 - 45 percent
greater than in fiscal 2004, while we also achieve meaningful
bottom-line improvement."
Current Fiscal 2005 Financial Outlook
The Company is affirming the ranges of financial expectations for
the remaining three quarters of its fiscal 2005-year ending June 30,
2005. Identix cautions that these financial expectations are
forward-looking statements that fall under the Company`s Safe Harbor
statement below. Identix cautions that delivery on orders, as well as
product mix that may affect gross margin, can move or vary from one
quarter to another, which could materially adversely affect the
Company`s current expectations.

Identix Receives Two New Purchase Orders for State and Local Government Deployments; Orders for TouchPrint Live Scan Systems with Total Value Exceeding $700,000
2004-11-04 07:30 ET - News Release
MINNETONKA, Minn. -- (Business Wire) -- Nov. 4, 2004
Identix Incorporated (Nasdaq:IDNX), the world`s leading
multi-biometric technology company, announced that it has received two
new purchase orders for multiple units of the Identix(R)
TouchPrint(TM) 3000 line of ten-print live scan fingerprint systems.
The two orders, which have an aggregate value exceeding $700,000, are
for deployment of Identix TouchPrint 3500`s, 3100`s and 3000`s by two
unnamed state and local governmental agencies. The systems under these
purchase orders are expected to ship and be installed over the course
of the Company`s fiscal 2005 year ending June 30, 2005.
Identix President & CEO Dr. Joseph J. Atick commented, "As
expected, we are experiencing solid demand by state and local
governmental agencies for our TouchPrint systems. We believe the
increasing requirements for identification that are being promulgated
at all levels of U.S. government will be a continued driver for live
scan systems generally, and in our view particularly those such as our
own that demonstrate the highest level of image quality. We are very
pleased with these two new orders, which build onto the already solid
foundation of purchase orders for our biometrics products that we have
received over the past four months."

Identix Selected by Pennsylvania State Police to Provide Live Scan Systems to Help Meet TSA HAZMAT Requirements
2004-11-16 07:00 ET - News Release
MINNETONKA, Minn. -- (Business Wire) -- Nov. 16, 2004
$1.8+ Million Order To Assist State in Meeting TSA Deadline for
Fingerprint Biometric Background Checks On HAZMAT Drivers and
Applicants Statewide
Identix Incorporated (Nasdaq:IDNX), the world`s leading
multi-biometric technology company, announced that it has received a
purchase order from the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) with a value
in excess of $1.8 million for Identix(R)` industry-leading full hand
and ten-print TouchPrint(TM) 3000 line of live scan systems. The
TouchPrint systems will be deployed at PSP offices throughout the
State to assist Pennsylvania in meeting the requirements of the
Transportation Security Administration (TSA) under the U.S. Patriot
Act to conduct focused background checks, including fingerprint-based
biometric criminal history checks, of all commercial drivers who apply
for, renew or transfer an endorsement to transport hazardous materials
(HAZMAT), including explosives. PSP will also use the Identix systems
for routine criminal bookings. The TouchPrint systems under the order
are expected to ship and be installed over the course of the Company`s
fiscal 2005 year ending June 30, 2005.
In one of the its first major non-aviation regulations in response
to the requirements laid out in the U.S. Patriot Act, the TSA is
requiring all truck drivers who want HAZMAT endorsements to undergo
background checks that include the submission of fingerprint
biometrics. Up to 3.5 million or more current truck drivers and
applicants are expected to be required to undergo background checks,
with an estimated additional hundreds of thousands of new and renewal
HAZMAT endorsement applicants requiring screening on an annual basis.
Currently, the plan requires conducting fingerprint-based criminal
history background checks beginning no later than January 31, 2005, as
well as name-based terrorist focused background checks and an
immigration check to determine whether any present a potential
terrorist threat. TSA will notify the States of the results of the
background checks and states will either issue or deny HAZMAT
endorsement based on that information. TSA developed this plan to
protect against the threat posed by terrorists transporting HAZMAT,
and to maximize flexibility for the states so the issuance of HAZMAT
endorsements is not impeded by security requirements. TSA has provided
all States with the choice of participating in a Nationwide
TSA-sponsored program (still to be implemented), or to implement their
own statewide programs.
PSP Major John K Thierwechter, Director of the Bureau of Records
and Identification, commented, "We are very proud to be among the
first States in the Nation to begin preparing to implement the
requirements by the TSA for fingerprint-based biometric background
checks for HAZMAT drivers and applicants. As with our other Statewide
deployments utilizing fingerprint biometrics, the quality of the image
capture is of utmost importance to us since our ability to properly
identify an individual can often come down to the smallest details of
the fingerprint minutiae. Based on our experience with Identix`
TouchPrint systems and the image quality produced, as well as the ease
of use of the systems, the selection of Identix to meet our Statewide
biometric HAZMAT requirements was an easy choice."
"All states have the option of either implementing their own
programs to comply with the TSA HAZMAT requirements or participating
in a TSA sponsored program that is expected to be implemented
shortly," said Identix President & CEO Dr. Joseph J. Atick. "While it
remains to be seen how many states will opt-in to the TSA program or
will instead decide to implement their own program, fingerprint
biometric solutions will play a role at both levels and we are
aggressively pursuing the opportunity to participate regardless of
federal or state architecture.
"Pennsylvania continues to be a leader in the adoption and
deployment of biometric solutions in response to the ever increasing
security requirements of our Nation, as shown by their leadership in
designing and implementing their own program to meet TSA HAZMAT
requirements," Atick continued. "We are proud to align our leadership
position in the multi-biometrics industry with the forward looking
activities and leadership role both the PSP and the State of
Pennsylvania and its other law enforcement agencies have undertaken.
We look forward to providing them with the technology needed to meet
the mandates of the TSA, and to working closely with the State and its
law enforcement agencies to meet all of their biometric needs."

Identix Reduces Quarterly Cash Burn by Approximately $600,000 Through Buyout of Remaining Lease Obligation on Vacated Northern California Office Facilities
2004-12-16 06:30 ET - News Release
MINNETONKA, Minn. -- (Business Wire) -- Dec. 16, 2004
Cash Savings of Approximately $1.6 Million Expected to Result in
Gain of $1.1 Million, or $0.01 per share, in the Company`s Fiscal 2005
Second Quarter Ending December 31, 2004
Identix Incorporated (Nasdaq:IDNX), the world`s leading
multi-biometrics security technology company, said today that it has
entered into an agreement with Vasona Business Park (VBP) to terminate
Identix` current lease obligations related to the Company`s dormant
office and manufacturing facilities in Los Gatos, California. Identix
will pay VBP, the lessor of the facilities, a one time sum of $5.25
million in return for the early termination and release of Identix`
obligations under the lease. The Los Gatos facilities, which have been
vacant since the Company relocated its corporate headquarters and
manufacturing operations to Minnetonka, MN following its merger with
Visionics Corporation in June 2002, consist of approximately 33,000
square feet. Identix would have been obligated to make payments in
excess of $6.8 million over the remaining term of the lease, which
would have ended in December 2007.
Identix CFO Elissa Lindsoe commented, "We believe this is a smart
deal for both Identix and VBP. Although we have been actively and
aggressively marketing this property, the market for commercial office
space in the Silicon Valley area has been extremely slow since we
vacated in mid-2002, and remains extraordinarily weak today. With one
of our most important objectives being the continuing prudent
management of our cash balances, we believe this is an opportune time
to enter into this transaction, which will result in an approximate
annual return on our investment of 18%. Importantly, this buyout
enables us to conserve approximately $1.6 million in cash over the
next three years. This early termination arrangement also relieves the
Company of potential additional costs, expenses and resource
allocation associated with ongoing building maintenance, repairs and
utilities.
"Based on this transaction," Lindsoe continued, "Identix will
record a one-time payment of $5.25 million in our fiscal third quarter
ending March 31, 2005. Beginning January 1, 2005, we will immediately
begin reducing our quarterly cash usage by approximately $600,000 per
quarter. Additionally, we expect to improve by $0.01 the previously
provided range of bottom line expectations for the quarter ending
December 31, 2004, as the result of the recouping of $1.1 million of
previously reserved funds related to our ongoing lease obligations."

Identix` ABIS Facial Recognition Data-Mining Platform Selected to Power National ID Program for Middle Eastern Country
2005-01-03 07:00 ET - News Release
MINNETONKA, Minn. -- (Business Wire) -- Jan. 3, 2005
Identix Incorporated (Nasdaq:IDNX), the world`s leading
multi-biometrics technology company, announced today that it has been
selected by an unnamed country in the Middle East to supply and
integrate Identix` ABIS(TM) biometric data-mining platform and search
engines into the Country`s National Identification program. ABIS
provides a biometric knowledge discovery platform that enables users
to harness the powerful identification and security tools encompassed
in the unique physical characteristics of each individual that are
inherent in biometrics. ABIS integrates Identix` proprietary facial
recognition and skin biometric technology in an open and modular
architecture, providing heightened accuracy and scalability up to 100
million images, ensuring easy system expansion for users as needs
grow. ABIS is easily integrated with existing business applications
using XML-based web services, and its image quality control modules
help ensure maximum accuracy. Identix tests have demonstrated that the
fusion of the Company`s proprietary skin technology algorithms with
its industry-leading facial recognition technology produces
performance results that exceed the accuracy of single fingerprint
recognition in one-to-one authentication applications.
The Country selected Identix` facial recognition-based ABIS
biometric data-mining platform and search engines as the core of its
National ID program to assist in national security efforts, as well as
to provide a highly accurate, user friendly means of ensuring its
citizens receive all the benefits to which they are entitled. The
deployment of ABIS is expected to help ensure the integrity of the
Country`s National ID card issuance process by screening for
duplicates and aliases. The powerful data-mining capabilities of ABIS
will also be used to enhance the Country`s National security and
criminal justice objectives by searching against existing databases of
facial images for individuals on various wanted, watch and terrorist
lists.
Several million citizens are expected to be enrolled and
participate in the National ID program within the first few years of
deployment. Identix began preliminary stage deployment of ABIS for
this program in the Company`s fiscal 2005 second quarter ending
December 31, 2004, with the majority of the work expected to be
completed in its fiscal 2005 third quarter ending March 31, 2005.
"We are seeing significantly increased opportunities throughout
the world for large-scale biometric data-mining capabilities," said
Identix President & CEO Dr. Joseph J. Atick. "Countless databases
totaling hundreds of millions of biometric images exist across the
world today. Nations are realizing at the highest levels of government
that the ability to tap into this information can potentially provide
a powerful tool towards heightened national security, as well as for
regulating critical internal programs.
"High levels of accuracy, coupled with rapid response times and
extremely robust scalability are must haves for these types of
programs," Atick continued. "Identix is the only company to fuse face
and skin biometrics into a single powerful offering. We believe this
powerful fusion gives ABIS an advantage over any competition in
meeting each one of these critical end user requirements. The open and
modular architecture of ABIS provides a user friendly and easy to
implement solution, which positions Identix very well to benefit from
the projected exponential expansion of biometric use in the many
programs throughout the world expected to be awarded over the next
several years."
The integration of Identix` ABIS technology into the Country`s
National ID program is expected to help ensure the integrity of the
Country`s National ID card issuance process and enhance the Country`s
national security and criminal justice objectives in the following
ways:
-- The automated detection of ID applicant fraud through the
one-to-many matching of the submitted photo with those already
in the database;
-- The verification of the identity of an applicant for National
ID renewal through the one-to-one matching of his or her
submitted photo with one already in the database;
-- The detection of wanted or missing persons through the
one-to-many matching of submitted photos against existing
databases of facial images for individuals on various wanted,
watch and terrorist lists.
About Identix ABIS
ABIS is Identix` advanced multi-biometric data-mining and search
system, designed for end-users and integrators developing large-scale,
one-to-many systems, with specific applicability to ID programs such
as National ID, Passport and Visa issuance, DMVs, large-scale
enterprise employee ID issuance and verification, and other
large-scale National security programs. ABIS contains built-in
features such as failover protection that are required in an
enterprise environment. Its architecture is modular, making it easy
for users to expand their system as needs grow. Identix` ABIS also
integrates easily with existing business applications using XML-based
web services.
ABIS incorporates Identix` skin biometric technology into a facial
search system. The skin subcomponent utilizes the micro-features of
the skin for significantly enhanced accuracy and has clearly
distinguished between identical twins in Identix tests. The
combination of skin biometrics with a considerably enhanced FaceIt(TM)
Feature quality control subcomponent provides uniformly accurate
performance across a wide variety of facial image resolutions.
Identix` internal tests utilizing FaceIt G6 have demonstrated that
for most data image populations - including the databases utilized in
the latest US government Facial Recognition Vendor Test (FRVT 2002) -
the typical Correct Match Rate (CMR) increases substantially. These
tests showed FaceIt G6 performance significantly exceeding the highest
levels of performance from the FRVT 2002 results (of which Identix was
in the top tier of performance). In addition, Identix tests
demonstrated that when photo capture and quality guidelines associated
with mug shots and biometric passports from NIST and ICAO are
followed, CMR performance was even higher. While fully compatible and
extremely accurate with existing databases, Identix believes ABIS
offers consistent breakthrough performance for face images meeting the
format and quality requirements for biometric travel documents (visa
and passports), which are based upon the new face recognition
standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO),
the International Standardization Organization (ISO), and the American
National Standards Institute (ANSI).

Identix Reports Second Quarter Results; Record Biometric-Related Sales Drive 54% Year-over-Year Increase in Quarterly Revenue
2005-01-26 16:16 ET - News Release
MINNETONKA, Minn. -- (Business Wire) -- Jan. 26, 2005
Identix Incorporated (Nasdaq:IDNX) today reported
financial results for its fiscal 2005 second quarter and first six
months ended December 31, 2004. Fiscal 2005 second quarter revenue was
$18.6 million, up 54 percent when compared to revenue of $12.1 million
in the same quarter last year. Fiscal 2005 second quarter loss from
continuing operations was $2.8 million, or $0.03 per fully diluted
share, compared to a loss from continuing operations of $5.5 million,
or $0.06 per fully diluted share in the year-earlier quarter. The net
loss for the fiscal 2005 second quarter included a special gain of
$1.1 million, or $0.01 per share, related to lease exit cost reserves
in excess of the buyout of the Company`s former California facilities
lease, as announced on December 16, 2004. As expected, gross margin
for the fiscal 2005 second quarter declined to 32 percent of revenue,
compared to 36 percent of revenue in the year earlier quarter. The
Company`s balance sheet remains solid with no long-term debt and a
combined cash and marketable securities balance of $42.8 million as of
December 31, 2004, down by $1 million from September 30, 2004.
"I am very pleased to report that this was the fifth consecutive
quarter of top line growth for Identix," said Identix President & CEO
Dr. Joseph J. Atick. "As demonstrated by our record biometric revenue
this quarter, which drove the second quarter`s 54 percent
year-over-year revenue growth, we continue to see strong opportunities
for biometric solutions throughout the world. Identix` premier
position as the leading provider of multi-biometric technology is
paying off in winning significant business and we remain on track for
a record setting year for biometrics revenue. Additionally," Atick
continued, "the expected pay back from the completion of our planned
up-front investment in certain customer programs in the first half of
our fiscal 2005, as well as recent sales of our ABIS data-mining
platform, positions us to deliver on our previously announced plan to
reap the benefits of higher gross margins in future periods."
Revenue for the first six months of fiscal 2005 was $35.2 million,
with a loss from continuing operations of $7.6 million, or $0.09 per
fully diluted share. Fiscal 2005 first six months revenue was up 44
percent when compared to fiscal 2004 first six months revenue of $24.5
million, with a loss from continuing operations of $10.5 million, or
$0.12 per fully diluted share.
As a result of the Company`s sale of its project management
services subsidiary, Identix Public Sector, Inc. (IPS), in February
2004, the Company`s financial statement presentations have been
reclassified to present IPS as a discontinued operation. All prior
period financial information and comparisons in this press release and
all future financial reports issued by the Company reflect the
reclassification of the IPS business net operating results as
discontinued operations. The Company`s net loss for the second quarter
and first six months of fiscal 2005 was not impacted by the
discontinued IPS business. The net loss for the year earlier quarter,
including the impact of the discontinued IPS business was $5.6
million, or $0.06 per fully diluted share. The net loss for the year
earlier first six months, including the impact of the discontinued IPS
business was $10.2 million, or $0.12 per fully diluted share.
Identix CFO Elissa Lindsoe commented, "As illustrated by today`s
results, we are executing well from a revenue standpoint and expect to
continue to see solid top line growth as we remain on track for full
fiscal year-over-year revenue growth of 35-43 percent. Importantly,
several of the large orders we have received are of a size where our
customers are scheduling shipments over more than three or four
quarters, which means we are also beginning to build a base for our
fiscal 2006 year. We believe we are continuing to manage costs well
and are on schedule to achieve sustainable increases in our gross
margins starting in our third quarter ending March 31, 2005. We
believe our continuing focus on, and commitment to, strong execution
will continue to drive bottom line improvement throughout the fiscal
year."
Current Fiscal 2005 Financial Outlook
The Company is reaffirming the ranges of financial expectations
for the remaining two quarters of its fiscal 2005-year ending June 30,
Third quarter ending March 31, 2005:
Revenue is expected to be between $19.0 - $21.0 million, with an
expected net loss of $0.02 - $0.04 per share.
Fourth quarter ending June 30, 2005:
Revenue is expected to be between $20.5 - $23.0 million, with an
expected net loss of $0.01 - $0.03 per share.
Other fiscal 2005 second quarter highlights included:
-- Identix has experienced strong order flow over the past five
quarters, which continues to significantly increase the
Company`s visibility into future quarters` revenue. To-date,
Identix has received purchase orders representing
approximately 35 percent of its projected biometrics product
revenue for the remainder of the fiscal 2005-year.
-- Identix received an addition order from the U.S. Customs and
Border Protection Agency for its industry leading
TouchPrint(TM) ten-print live scan technology for deployment
as part of the U.S. Visitor and Immigrant Status Indicator
Technology (VISIT) program. This new purchase order brings the
total amount of U.S. border protection-related orders from CBP
to more than $3.6 million in fiscal 2005.
-- Identix` technology was selected by Pennsylvania to help meet
the requirements of the Transportation Security Administration
(TSA) under the U.S. Patriot Act to conduct focused background
checks, including fingerprint-based biometric criminal history
checks, of all commercial drivers who apply for, renew or
transfer an endorsement to transport hazardous materials
(HAZMAT), including explosives. The Pennsylvania State Police
(PSP) ordered more than $1.8 million of Identix(R) live scan
systems for deployment at PSP offices throughout the State.
-- Identix saw strong order flow from all vertical markets, with
announced purchase orders during the fiscal 2005 second
quarter, including the CBP and PSP orders, of more than $6.8
million for its TouchPrint(R) 3000 line of 10-print and full
hand live scan systems.
-- Identix continued to do a good job of cash management,
utilizing $1 million net in its fiscal 2005 second quarter.
Continuing focus on prudent cash management enabled the
Company to take advantage of the opportunity to exit its
previously vacated Northern California office facilities with
a cash buyout, which resulted in cash savings over the
remaining three years of the lease obligation of more than
$1.6 million, or a 18%+ return on this investment. The company
paid a one time lump sum payment of $5.25 million to Vasona
Business Park on January 4, 2005, which will impact the
Company`s third quarter cash utilization.
-- Identix` real-time, mobile identification IBIS system adoption
and successful deployment by Hennepin County Sheriff`s Office
and the Minnesota BCA was recognized by Government Computer
News for an Agency Award.

Identix Expands Deployment of IBIS Mobile, Real Time Identification Network in Minnesota with Deployment by Additional Government Agency
2005-02-08 08:15 ET - News Release
MINNETONKA, Minn. -- (Business Wire) -- Feb. 8, 2005
Continued Excellent Results From the Field Drive Additional
Roll-out of IBIS Server and Handheld Units
Identix Incorporated (Nasdaq:IDNX), the world`s leading
multi-biometrics technology company, announced today that the State of
Minnesota continues to increase the ability of its law enforcement
officers to conduct real-time, on-the-spot identification of
individuals in the field with an expansion of its rollout of the
Identix(R) IBIS system. A new IBIS server, along with 16 IBIS
additional mobile handheld units, has been deployed by the Minnesota
Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA). The BCA IBIS server will
increase overall system capacity and provides law enforcement officers
in the field with an additional data mining server to transmit,
process, and respond to their real-time IBIS transactions from their
mobile units, helping to ensure rapid response times. The BCA is also
deploying an additional 16 IBIS handheld units for distribution to
Minnesota law enforcement officers. The IBIS handheld units provide
officers with the ability to capture and wirelessly transmit
fingerprint and facial image data of suspects in the field through the
IBIS server. With this rollout of additional units, Minnesota now has
more than 80 IBIS handheld units for officer use throughout the State.
Minnesota currently employs more than 9,000 law enforcement officers.
The Minnesota IBIS deployment has been funded by grants
2000-9347-MN-IJ and 2000-9345-MN-IJ from the National Institute of
Justice.
"The power that Identix` IBIS solution places in the hands of our
officers is clearly demonstrated in the fantastic field results we
have seen," said Lieutenant Bob Hamborg of the Hennepin County
Sheriff`s Office. "Through November of 2004, we conducted 3,807
submissions of fingerprints from subjects detained in the field
against the Minnesota AFIS. Of those submissions, 848, or 22 percent,
came back with a hit, meaning this individual was already in the
database and probably warranted additional investigation."
Lieutenant Hamborg commented on a recent IBIS transaction:
"Earlier this month, the Woodbury Police Department responded to a
call from a bank related to a report of a fraudulent check being
passed. Officers made contact with the woman who was passing the check
and she provided a Minnesota driver`s license as proof of identity.
The woman repeatedly told the officers she was the person on the
driver`s license, but the officers were suspicious due to the fact
that the picture on the license did not look exactly like her. One of
the officers pulled out an Identix IBIS handheld unit and captured two
fingerprints from the woman and a photo, and wireless transmitted the
information to search against the Minnesota AFIS. Within two minutes,
the officers received a response on the IBIS handheld unit that
indicated a positive hit on the woman`s fingerprint along with her
correct name and date of birth. Confronted with indisputable facts
based on her biometric identification, the woman confessed that she
had provided another person`s driver`s license. It was later
determined that she had committed a forgery and had multiple other
identifications and stolen checks in her possession."
Lieutenant Hamborg concluded, "The additional IBIS server will
help ensure that the response time for searches from the field
continues to be under three minutes. IBIS is a valuable tool for our
deputies."
Identix President & CEO Dr. Joseph J. Atick commented, "As we bid
on projects and enter into pilot programs for IBIS deployments
throughout the Nation, Minnesota, and specifically Hennepin County,
continues to provide an excellent example of the power that Identix`
cutting-edge biometric technology provides real world encounters in
the field. IBIS is proven to remove suspected criminals from the
streets, while assisting law enforcement officers in becoming even
more efficient and effective. We look forward to continuing to meet
Minnesota`s needs for real-time, on-the-spot identification in the
field and to helping them reach their objective of an IBIS for every
officer."

Identix Receives Purchase Order Valued at More Than $1,000,000 from State Law Enforcement Agency for New Enhanced Definition Live Scan Systems
2005-02-15 08:15 ET - News Release
MINNETONKA, Minn. -- (Business Wire) -- Feb. 15, 2005
Agency Upgrading Legacy Systems & Expanding Existing Live Scan Network
Identix Incorporated (Nasdaq:IDNX), the world`s leading
multi-biometric technology company, announced today that it has
received a new purchase order valued in excess of $1.0 million for
multiple units of its recently introduced Identix(R) TouchPrint(R)
Enhanced Definition 3000 Series of live scan systems. The TouchPrint
Enhanced Definition 3000 Series exceeds the FBI Appendix F standard by
providing 3.5 times the pixel density and 300 percent more contrast,
resulting in images that have far more fine ridge detail than dictated
by the Appendix F requirements. The Live Scan systems will be deployed
at agency locations throughout the State to upgrade the State`s
existing legacy Identix live scan systems and to significantly expand
the State`s live scan network. Identix expects to ship and install the
systems in calendar 2005.
"The biometrics industry in general, and Identix specifically, is
now regularly seeing the award of more seven figure and high six
figure contracts for finger and facial recognition technology
applications than at any other point in time that I can recall in
Identix` 20+ year history in the industry," said Identix President &
CEO Dr. Joseph J. Atick. "These continued sizeable awards within the
industry support Identix` belief that the inflection point for
biometrics in terms of accelerated and expanding adoption is upon us.
"The response to our newly released TouchPrint Enhanced Definition
3000 Series has been excellent," Atick continued. "It reinforces the
Company`s belief that our commitment to superior image quality,
coupled with the marketplace`s increasing realization that not all
live scan systems offer equal performance, will continue to
differentiate Identix and what we believe are our superior quality
live scan products. We see today`s announced order as a partial
reflection of what we believe is a growing opportunity to sell
upgraded technology into our large existing customer base throughout
the United States and internationally. Additionally, we feel our newly
released Enhanced Definition Series positions us even better to
continue to expand the reach of our penetration into the law
enforcement, civil applicant, national ID, travel and other related
markets throughout the world."

Identix and NEC Team to Upgrade and Expand Indiana`s Statewide Live Scan Network
2005-02-22 07:30 ET - News Release
MINNETONKA, Minn. -- (Business Wire) -- Feb. 22, 2005
New Purchase Order for Enhanced Definition Live Scan Systems
Valued at Approximately $1.1 Million to Identix; Brings Total Orders
From NEC/Indiana to Nearly $2.0 Million Over Past Three Months
Identix Incorporated (Nasdaq:IDNX), the world`s leading
multi-biometric technology company, announced today it is teaming with
Sacramento-based NEC Solutions (America) to upgrade and expand
Indiana`s statewide live scan network with the newly introduced
Identix(R) Live Scan TouchPrint(TM) Enhanced Definition 3000 Series.
Identix and NEC have worked closely together for a number of years to
provide live scan workstations that integrate Identix` live scan
technology with NEC`s AFIS (Automated Fingerprint Identification
System). The integrated systems, NEC LS 21(TM) workstations, are being
deployed to law enforcement agencies throughout Indiana to expand the
reach of the State`s existing live scan/AFIS network, as well as to
upgrade legacy workstations.
Identix said it has received a new purchase order valued at
approximately $1.1 million from NEC for multiple units of its recently
introduced Identix Live Scan TouchPrint Enhanced Definition 3000
Series. NEC incorporates Identix` live scan systems as part of the NEC
LS 21 workstation. Including today`s announced purchase order, Identix
has received purchase orders from NEC for Identix live scan systems
totaling approximately $2.0 million over the past three months. Two of
the earlier purchase orders were announced by Identix in its fiscal
2005 second quarter, which ended December 31, 2004. For then existing
competitive reasons and confidentiality purposes, the customer went
unidentified at the time. Under the most recent purchase order,
Identix expects to deliver the live scan systems to NEC and to install
them in locations throughout Indiana over the course of the next three
calendar months.
Barry Fisher, associate vice president, AFIS Division of NEC
Solutions America commented, "This is an excellent win for NEC and
Identix. Identix continues to differentiate itself in the live scan
market through superior image quality and consistent technological
breakthroughs that provide significant benefits to our customers. We
look forward to continuing to work with Identix as AFIS and live scan
requirements increase throughout North America and around the world."
"Continuing to team with leading AFIS providers such as NEC is an
excellent way to further extend the reach of our penetration into the
biometrics market," said Identix President & CEO Dr. Joseph J. Atick.
"Our relationship with NEC goes back a number of years and we are
pleased that NEC continues to recognize the superior quality, value
and customer satisfaction that Identix` technology provides. This is a
great win for both companies."
Dr. Atick continued, "Last week we shared Identix` continuing
belief that the aggregate dollar size of technology awards in the
biometrics industry is trending higher. In February alone, Identix has
announced more than $2.5 million in new purchase orders for our
recently released Enhanced Definition Systems. We believe this order
provides continuing validation that today`s customers are more and
more appreciating that quality matters, and that Identix is the multi
biometrics provider with superior quality technology."

Nikon Integrates Identix` FaceIt Technology into Latest Digital Camera Offerings
2005-02-16 06:45 ET - News Release
MINNETONKA -- (Business Wire) -- Feb. 16, 2005
Advanced Face Finding Capability From Identix Makes Nikon COOLPIX
Cameras Smarter, Delivering Enhanced Usability and Customer Experience
Identix(R) Incorporated (Nasdaq:IDNX), the world`s leading
multi-biometric technology company, announced today that its
industry-leading FaceIt(R) technology has been integrated into Nikon
Corporation`s latest line of COOLPIX digital cameras.
Nikon and Identix worked in partnership to develop Face-priority
AF (Autofocus), a state-of-the-art photography feature that uses the
latest digital face finding technology from Identix to automatically
detect human faces in the scene, and to automatically adjust camera
settings - such as focus and gain - to produce optimal images of the
faces irrespective of background, lighting or other viewing
conditions. The Face-priority AF feature will initially be available
with Nikon`s COOLPIX 7900, COOLPIX 7600 and COOLPIX 5900 models. The
licensing agreement between Identix and Nikon covers production for
the entire COOLPIX camera line, which is expected by Nikon to be in
the multimillions of camera units. According to Identix President &
CEO Dr. Joseph J. Atick, this license by Identix to Nikon represents
the largest deployment to-date of FaceIt technology in a commercial
application.
The face finding technology works in real time and it is able to
control the auto-focus even if the person moves or the photographer
recomposes the picture. The feature works effectively for both
horizontal and vertical positions or even if the camera is tilted. The
end result is a smarter camera eliminating the need for the user to
manually adjust the settings, making the camera more user-friendly,
more fun and easier to use.
"As a photography enthusiast myself," Dr. Atick said, "I truly
appreciate the value of the Face-Priority AF camera mode enabled by
FaceIt. With this feature photographers are able to automatically
adjust camera settings faster than any human capability allows, to
capture that unique, split second expression on someone`s face,
resulting in the ability to consistently produce perfect human
portraits. I am pleased to see Identix contributing to the historical
list of innovations in photography alongside creative giants such as
Nikon that provided so much technological leadership and helped define
modern photography throughout the second half of the 20th century and
up through today."
Nikon General Manager of Marketing Kazuyuki Kazami commented, "We
are very happy to be the first to achieve the Face-priority AF
function in collaboration with Identix. It is a truly innovative
function that makes it simple for virtually anyone to take
satisfyingly sharp portraits. It is also another successful step in
our quest to make COOLPIX digital cameras ever more easy to use, and
to make digital photography ever more enjoyable."
"We believe our agreement with Nikon, which will generate
meaningful U.S. dollar royalties for Identix, represents the opening
of an entirely new frontier - the licensing and integration of our
enabling biometric technologies for mass market consumer
applications," Dr. Atick said. "We expect to continue to see similar
unique and totally new applications with commercial appeal begin to
generate meaningful opportunities for the potential generation of
material revenues in the commercial and consumer vertical sectors."
Identix FaceIt technology has numerous capabilities that can be
integrated into a wide range of applications. The face finding
capability of FaceIt is especially important since it serve as the
initial step for a number of applications, including enrollment and
matching. Face finding provides integrators with the highly accurate
and hands off ability to locate faces in the field of view regardless
of background, or lighting or viewing conditions, a benefit that has
been embraced here by Nikon to deliver a unique new offering to the
consumer market.
Identix and FaceIt are trademarks or registered trademarks of
Identix Incorporated in the United States and other countries.

function in collaboration with Identix.

Tennessee Awards Identix Additional One Year Contract as Exclusive Provider of Electronic Fingerprinting Services Statewide
2005-03-23 06:30 ET - News Release
MINNETONKA, Minn. -- (Business Wire) -- March 23, 2005
Identix Sees Adoption and Deployment of Biometric Systems and
Solutions Continuing to Expand; Identix Identification Services
Generating Solid Recurring Revenue Streams
Identix Incorporated (Nasdaq:IDNX), the world`s leading
multi-biometric technology company, announced today that the Tennessee
Bureau of Investigation (TBI) has awarded Identix Identifications
Services (IIS) an additional one year contract as the exclusive
provider of electronic fingerprinting services for the State. This
award, which has an expected value in excess of $1,000,000, is an
extension of the three-year contract for fingerprinting services TBI
awarded IIS in early 2002. IIS will continue to provide electronic
fingerprinting services for all Tennessee employers and agencies
required to run fingerprint-based applicant background checks for
their employees, volunteers and/or applicants. The Tennessee State
Legislature has mandated that these background checks be conducted for
paid or volunteer employment or licensing in a wide variety of areas
such as child care, teachers, security and armed guards, security
systems contractors and others. IIS provides statewide electronic
fingerprinting services to Tennessee, California, Illinois and
Michigan.
"TBI processes more than 60,000 electronic fingerprint
applicant-based background checks every year," said Tennessee Bureau
of Investigation Assistant Director Brad Truitt. "Identix` well
organized and efficient fingerprinting services business has been a
key component to the success of the Tennessee Applicant Processing
System (TAPS), which has proven to be a tremendous asset to employers
and licensing agencies throughout the State by enabling them to make
employment or licensing decisions more quickly. The extremely high
quality image capture provided by Identix` live scan systems helps
ensure that our applicants need to submit fingerprint images only
once, which greatly assists employers and licensing agencies ability
to complete fingerprint-based background checks in days. We believe
the end result is that the State of Tennessee applicant processing
system is second to none."
"We are seeing the adoption and deployment of biometric systems
and solutions continue to expand in every one of the markets in which
we operate," commented Identix President & CEO Dr. Joseph J. Atick.
"We continue to see solid recurring revenue streams from our IIS
business, with this follow-on contract with TBI valued in the seven
figures for the next year alone. Legislative efforts, as well as
security concerns, across the U.S. are targeting more and more job
categories where identity and accompanying fingerprint-based
background checks are becoming a critical requirement of the hiring
process. We believe we have an excellent opportunity and are well
positioned across the U.S. to continue to expand both the depth and
breadth of IIS` reach."

Identix Awarded $8 Million Contract from One of World`s Largest State & Local Law Enforcement Agencies
2005-04-07 06:15 ET - News Release
MINNETONKA, Minn. -- (Business Wire) -- April 7, 2005
Identix` Industry-Leading Full Hand TouchPrint High Definition 3800
Systems Selected by Los Angeles County Regional Identification System
to Replace One of Nation`s Largest Law Enforcement Live Scan Networks
Identix Incorporated (Nasdaq:IDNX), the world`s leading
multi-biometrics technology company, announced today that it has been
awarded a contract valued in excess of $8 million from the Los Angeles
County Regional Identification System (LACRIS). Identix` latest
industry-leading, high image quality Full Hand TouchPrint(TM) High
Definition 3800 live scan systems were selected over a number of
competitor`s systems to replace LACRIS`s live scan network in its
entirety. The LACRIS network is utilized by all of the full service
Law Enforcement Agencies in Los Angeles County, including the world`s
largest Sheriff`s Department, the Los Angeles Police Department (the
Nation`s third largest police department) and the Los Angeles County
criminal courts. LACRIS oversees and operates one of the Nation`s most
expansive live scan networks covering more than 150 agency locations.
Agencies under LACRIS employ more than 20,000 sworn officers who
provide direct law enforcement services for over 10,000,000 citizens
in a territory encompassing 4,084 square miles in Southern California.
Identix` TouchPrint High Definition Full Hand live scan system, which
is FBI certified for 1,000 ppi image capture and transmission, is the
latest in a series of live scan developments by Identix focused on
improving image quality and enhanced identification.
"Identix` TouchPrint High Definition 3800 Full Hand Live Scan
system offers exactly what LACRIS requires for our Officers: the
ability to capture a superior quality image of a complete hand, from
fingertip to carpal crease," said LA Sheriff`s Department Lieutenant
Larry Bryant. "The image quality produced by Identix` systems is
extraordinarily impressive and sets a new standard for excellence in
the industry. With more than 30 percent of all latent prints found at
a crime scene coming from parts of the hand other than the fingertips,
LACRIS believes it is imperative for all Los Angeles Regional Officers
to have the ability to capture the best possible image of a suspect`s
full hand," Lt. Bryant said. "The ease of use of Identix` systems and
Identix` demonstrated commitment to customer success through
exceptional customer support are added bonuses to this logical choice
for LACRIS."
Identix expects to begin shipping and installing the live scan
systems under this award, which also includes five years maintenance,
in its fiscal 2005 fourth quarter, ending June 30, 2005. The majority
of Identix` systems deliverables are expected to be fulfilled in the
Company`s fiscal 2006 first quarter, which ends September 30, 2005.
"This is a landmark win for Identix that we believe represents a
resounding confirmation from one of the Nation`s largest State & Local
law enforcement agencies that superior image quality - above and
beyond the FBI`s Appendix F standards - is priority number one,"
commented Identix President & CEO Dr. Joseph J. Atick. "The solution
we are providing for LACRIS also represents an important milestone not
only in image quality, but also in system architecture. It is being
deployed as part of an overall enterprise solution that ties in all of
the LACRIS live scan systems as part of one network. The solution for
LACRIS contains central administration tools for performing individual
system updates and configurations; monitoring the quality of
fingerprint submissions by operator; and web-based reporting for
viewing the performance of individual live scan systems in the
network. This system architecture solution translates into a fully
integrated criminal ID management approach, which helps deliver
significant performance advantages and operational efficiencies aimed
at workflow optimization. Additionally," Atick continued, "as
illustrated in the importance it played in the decision making process
by LACRIS, we believe our technology`s ability to capture an image of
a full hand in a single, simple and seamless roll of an individual`s
hand may well become a very important requirement for other prudent,
leading-edge law enforcement agencies throughout the U.S.
"LACRIS and its member agencies have long been one of the Nation`s
leading law enforcement groups in terms of ensuring that its Officers
are equipped with the best and latest technology to enable them to
perform their jobs in the most effective and efficient manner
possible," Atick said. "Ultimately, part of Identix` job is to help
provide law enforcement personnel, like those in LA County, with the
tools to make their jobs easier and help make our streets and country
safer. We are extremely proud to have been selected by LACRIS in what
is one of the largest single live scan contracts ever awarded by a
State & Local agency, and we look forward to continuing to provide
LACSRIS and all of our valued customers with industry leading
biometrics technology and service." ....
