Hi Leute,
nach meinem Komag Tip hier eine weitere CuttingEdge
Empfehlung ... nur diesmal aus der US Ausgabe:
February 29, 2000
"
Okay, I¹m a little behind on the next Cutting Edge issue. All of this travelling
researching companies has put my schedule a little off track. I hope you don¹t
mindŠ it¹s the nature of the beast. And if you¹ve been with me for sometime,
you know my hard-nose research has paid off handsomely.
But I¹m going to give you the next Cutting Edge recommendation now. It¹s
Hometown Auto (HCAR-NASDAQ).
I love this stock. The company is a franchise of car dealerships, and they¹re
now leveraging their brand equity on the Internet.
Check out their revenue growth:
This is massive. And once the market recognizes the company¹s core growth
and value appeal, they¹ll buy en masse.
The stock trades at a market cap of about $35 millionŠ on revenues of $269
million. Absurd!
Even more absurd, HCAR just received a $25 million investment from
institutional investors. So the company is trading at a price-to-cash ratio of
1.4. Remember, this is an emerging Internet company.
Buy it under $7 a share.

Cutting Edge #354
Hometown Auto (HCAR-NASDAQ) is a still on this pullback. If you
haven’t bought the stock, buy it now. If you have bought the stock, use this
temporary weakness to add to your position.
Think about this — at a market cap of just $42 million, and on trailing twelve
month sales of $269 million, HCAR trades at a paltry market cap of 0.16.
Peanuts — when compared to other e-commerce stocks.

HCAR (Hometown Auto) is an undervalued & undiscovered internet & cash cow stock; based on the following facts:
- CYBERLOT - an internet listing of all cars - launched & announced 1/14/99; http://www.hometownautoretailers.com/
- Only 5.8 mill shares o/s; much less in float
- HCAR was an ipo in 7/98; came out at $9.00; & got crushed by the Asian contagion
- $150 mill in revs & $.80/e.p.s. expected in `99
- NASDAQ National stock - trading around it`s low of $4.75
- the internet aspect has been totally overlooked - as they are the only dealer I know of to put their cars on the net - $16 mill & growing
- acquiring other dealers
- book value: $5.00/share
- Cash of $6.4 mill
- $100 mill line of credit w/ GE Capital
- Dealerships for: Ford, Chrysler, Toyota, GM, & Isuzu
- Dealer industry is consolidating - and HCAR is a perfect buyout candidate
- finally, if the internet craze hits HCAR, the stock could go to $100; given its tremendous book value & earnings.

Hometown Auto (HCAR-NASDAQ) is my favorite retail e-commerce stock. Trading under a market cap of just $35 million on trailing-twelve-month revenues of $269 million, HCAR trades at a price-to-revenues ratio of 0.13. The stock could trade at $59 a share and still be considered undervalued.

I like to think of Elcom International (ELCO-NASDAQ) as an example.
When I recommended ELCO in 1997, it was trading at a market cap of about $35 million on revenues in excess of $600 million. ELCO has recently caught the attention of investors as an emerging e-commerce stock—getting as high as $38 a share. Unfortunately I sold it no higher than $6 a share. That`s a shame.
But I can guarantee that I won`t fall for the same mistake twice. That`s why I`m recommending Hometown Auto (HCAR-NASDAQ) aggressively.
I`m not going to spend a lot of time on this recommendation. I think HCAR`s solid fundementals speaks for itself. Check out the revenues growth—massive. Yet the stock can be picked up for peanuts—under $8 a share.
E-commerce and retail Internet stocks trade at enormous price-to-sales ratios. It wouldn`t be anything for a solid e-commerce stock to trades at 10X revenues. At just half of that, HCAR would trade at a market cap of $1.34 billion —NOTHING compared to today`s Internet valuations. At that kind of market cap, HCAR would trade at a per share price of $335.
Now, before you take out a second mortgage to buy shares of HCAR, just remember that HCAR has been public for over two years. It doesn`t have the media hype that Autobytel or Autoweb had. But if HCAR were to IPO right now, with the revenues it currently generates, this stock would be running on rocket fuel —all the way to the moon.
Buy it under $8 a share.
