BroadVision to Power Four Portals for Leading Colorado Healthcare System



REDWOOD CITY, Calif.—August 19, 2002 — BroadVision, Inc. (Nasdaq: BVSND), the leading provider of enterprise business portal applications, today announced that Exempla Healthcare of Denver, Colorado, will use BroadVision One-To-One® Portal™ and BroadVision One-To-One Content™ applications to build enterprise portals for the company’s clinicians, employees, patients and business partners.
The first portal to go live will be the Clinical Portal, which will aggregate content from key legacy systems and offer web-based information access for Exempla physicians, surgeons, nursing staff and others. Exempla selected BroadVision as the solution provider for its enterprise business portal on the strength of its advanced personalization technology, powerful search capabilities, and features enabling enhanced collaboration among care providers.

“The out-of-the-box functionality of the BroadVision portal applications, especially in the areas of personalization, collaboration, and workflow management, will help Exempla clinicians work more efficiently and deliver the highest possible quality of care,” said Lots Pook, chief technology officer, Exempla Healthcare. “The Clinical Portal will enable caregivers to retrieve aggregated information quickly, collaborate with other healthcare professionals, and find the information they need to practice evidence-based medicine.”

Exempla expects the Clinical Portal, running on a Sun Solaris hardware platform and storing data to be used by 500 to 1,000 employees. The portal will aggregate information from key Exempla legacy systems—the Meditech database, the SoftMed chart management system, and the PowerScribe radiology transcription system. Features of the portal will include remote access; single sign-on to information systems and sources accessible via the portal; access to key information reference sites (via pass-through initially); access to physician-related information, such as physician directories and schedules; personalized home pages with targeted communication; and access to policies and procedures.

After deploying the Clinical Portal, Exempla plans to build an employee portal to reduce desktop management costs and deliver more self-service functionality; a patient portal, to enable patients to access care-specific information and facilitate patient-clinician communication; and a business-to-business portal to streamline and automate transactions with suppliers, partners and customers.
