Sie sieht phantastisch aus, weiß was los ist, und sie kann so grandios die Augenbrauen hochziehen wärend sie Moderiert. Es wirkt jedes Mal, als ob sie damit alle Verachtung für die ganzen Lügen und die Arschlöcher auf der Welt ausdrücken würde.
Ich schaue fast nur noch BBC, fast der einzige Sender, wo man nicht für blöd verkauft wird.
Die BBC ist einer der Kriegsgewinner. Auf dem Amerikanischen Markt wachsen sie mit ihrer ausgewogenen Berichterstattung in bestem journalistischen Sinne, überpropotional. Ein Glück, daß es noch solche Sender gibt. Ebenso der World Service ist eine Oase der Informationen, Hintergrundberichte, Analysen und Kommentare.

Mishal Husain anchors BBC World`s evening news from Washington at 6 pm/et. The newscasts are seen live around the world by an audience of more than 180 million and across the United States through cable and satellite on BBC America and public television. Mishal is also a contributing correspondent for BBC News.

Mishal`s family is from Pakistan but she was born in 1973 in England and grew up largely in the Middle East. Living in that region meant she was able to keep close links to Pakistan, including annual trips to the mountainous areas in the north. Earlier this year she traveled up the Khyber Pass and to the border with Afghanistan.

After several years in the United Arab Emirates the family moved to Saudi Arabia and Mishal began boarding school in England. After graduation in 1991 she had a year off which included her first journalistic work - interning at `The News`, one of Pakistan`s English-language daily papers. Here she reached the dizzy heights of the `city pages` for Islamabad - covering events in the capital and even investigating whether a `silver` garnish on sweetmeats could cause lead poisoning. The latter part of the year was spent in Russia - having studied Russian at school, she taught English in Moscow and had the chance to travel all over the former Soviet Union, including Uzbekistan and Georgia.

Mishal studied law at Cambridge University, graduating in 1995, and then completed a Master`s in Law at the European University Institute in Florence. Her thesis was human rights issues arising from the status of Bosnian refugees in Europe - topical then, as the refugee crisis caused by the Balkans wars was ongoing. She retains a keen interest in international law and human rights in particular.

Mishal`s first job was at Bloomberg Television in London, where she spent two years and which gave her the opportunity of on-camera work for the first time. She then moved to BBC World as a producer and then to the BBC`s specialist Economics and Business Unit. Here she began reporting, covering anything from the problems of the manufacturing sector to house prices to share options for internet entrepreneurs.

She then tried her hand at anchoring and in September 2000 was asked to launch a new business program from the BBC`s hub Asia bureau in Singapore. `Asia Business Report` is part of the BBC`s regional programming.

Mishal returned to London in January 2001 to co-anchor `World Business Report`, BBC World`s flagship business program, with Patrick O`Connell. The job involved frequent stints in New York - on the day the markets re-opened after the post-September 11th shutdown, Mishal was live in Times Square continuously, charting the reaction to the terrorist attacks. A year later she would cover commemorations at the Pentagon for the one-year anniversary.

Since moving to the main news on BBC World, Mishal has had the chance to interview a host of high-profile figures, including former Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and James Wolfensohn of the World Bank. Her first day on air as a news anchor coincided with the Queens plane crash in New York last November - that first week in her new role also saw the fall of Kabul. Since then she`s anchored live through the Los Angeles airport shooting on July 4th, several suicide bombings in Israel, the controversial Israeli air strike on an apartment building in Gaza and the mid-air plane collision over Switzerland in August.

Unglaublich war z.B. wie er neulich den Demokratischen Senator Nelson in der Sendung interviewte, und der die Internierung der Taliban (enemy combatants) mehr oder weniger als Club Med Urlaub darstellen wollte.

In 2001 Tim Sebastian won Britain`s prestigious Royal Television Society Interviewer of the Year award for the second year running.

Based in Warsaw from 1979, Tim became the BBC`s Europe Correspondent in 1982.

Two years later, as the BBC`s correspondent he went to Moscow, where he stayed until 1985 before moving to Washington, where he was based from 1986 to 1989.

In 1982, Tim was awarded the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Richard Dimbleby Award.

This award was for the most important contribution to factual television.

He was also named Television Journalist of the Year by the Royal Television Society.

Born in London on 13th March 1952, Tim speaks Russian and German and is the author of six novels and two non-fiction books.

He holds a BA Honours degree in modern languages from Oxford University.

For HARDtalk, Tim has travelled all over the world interviewing presidents, prime ministers and kings, as well as authors, actors and musicians - each of his guests have their own, unique story to tell.

lese zur zeit den guardian, einfach aus interesse, was ein teil der "koalition" bzw. der menschen aus einem "koalitionsland" denken - bin sehr positiv überrascht, wie hart die mit ihrer kolonie zu gericht gehen! respekt!

seit dem inet habe ich eigentlich keine richtige Tageszeitung mehr. Wenn ich Zeit habe, klicke ich mich durch die üblichen Netzangebote von Spiegel, Handelsblatt, FTD, FR, etc. Seit dem Krieg sind auch der Guardian und die BBC Seite dazugekommen. Hin und wieder schau ich mal bei Indymedia und der FAZ rein, die machen aber inzwischen einen Großteil der Artikel abopflichtig.
Um den Info-Overkill perfekt zu machen, kann man noch Seiten wie Deutschlandfund Info-Radio, Zeit-online, iraqwar.ru, div. Newsletter, die Welt, yahoo news und und und dazunehmen.
Wenn es dann noch Vorgänge gibt in der Welt, die einem verborgen bleiben, dann sind das sicher Verschwörungen von Geheimdiensten oder irgendwelche Plots die von zwielichtigen Regierungsstellen ausgeheckt wurden.
